I'm okay with that.

Though you may not be able to get updates for the game through Steam anymore, but that's only if they're dropping Steam entirely.
It's a beta.
Christ, you people are like a bunch of babies crying over a service which is not required to be running whilst you are playing your games.
All I see in this thread is "cancelled my pre-order" and "fuck, EA have lost a bunch of sales thanks to this."
Shut the fuck up whining and get over it.
Remember the first time Steam was release. It was as buggy as hell.
Also what EA really need to do is to sell old games like road rash, desert strike or Battlefield 1942 collection and allow mod support on Origins
Rememebr the first time Steam was release. It was as buggy as a bug
Plus what EA really needs to do is to sell their old games. imagine they sell Battlefield 1942 collection or Battlefield Vietnam and make it as stable like how counterstrike depends on steam to play.
Imagine if EA actually start selling their old videogames dating back to the 16bit era of the sega genesis and SNES exclusively on origins.
No! I want Steam!!
:crying:
They better not force this upon Battlefield 3, I'm already pissed that ToR will be exclusive on this thing.
They better not force this upon Battlefield 3, I'm already pissed that ToR will be exclusive on this thing.
Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3 are Origin exclusive.
Well, EA would not let this project of theirs die. If origins become successful, Steam would face a serious competition.
If Origins become successful, the next thing you know Activision might start their own distribution network.
If you don't want origins to be successful, then don't buy any of EA's game and stop playing any games published by EA.
This means you will have to abandon battlefield and the Sims franchise forever.

Is this what you want? The chances are, people will still have to deal with it
I just got word from someone at EA. Here is their official response:
Hi Shawn -
It’s unfortunate that Steam has removed Crysis 2 from their service. This was not an EA decision or the result of any action by EA.
Steam has imposed a set of business terms for developers hoping to sell content on that service – many of which are not imposed by other online game services. Unfortunately, Crytek has an agreement with another download service which violates the new rules from Steam and resulted in its expulsion of Crysis 2 from Steam.
Crysis 2 continues to be available on several other download services including GameStop, Amazon, Origin.com and more.
So, it seems as though this was Valve's decision.

"Don't care if they do read it, she's a whore through and through. A liar. A cheat. Always has been for years, always will be."
So ~edgy~.
Looks like Valve don't want any competition which make sense.
I prefer to stick with Steam as the only 'DRM' program for my games, thank you.
Install Origin, buy Crysis 2, uninstall Origin and play Crysis 2.
Hopefully this will at least mean the demise of EADM. What a shitfestival.

EA Download Manager evolved into Origins actually

So yeah it's technically dead and he got his wish :v:
Install Origin, buy Crysis 2, uninstall Origin and play Crysis 2.
I'd prefer to buy it on Steam and download it 3 year later when I want to replay it. It is just inconvenient to have library there and here.

EA removed the 2 year expiration from their EADM I think, I can't find anything about it in the ToS any more, and if they want to compete with Steam they would have too. Boy you lot sure love your biased exaggerations don't you?
Origin isn't even a DRM itself. It is literally just a distribution platform. It is then up to each game to handle the DRM itself, the servers itself and so forth. Origin has fuck all impact on the game once you have downloaded it and installed it? How do I know this? I actually tried the fucking thing before throwing a bitch fit like a self-entitled kid.
Does this mean if I buy ME3 on Origin, I can also install it on my Dad's computer and we can both play it whenever we want without worrying about internet connections or which account gets to be logged in?
If so, sign me up.

The way people are going, "I'M GOING TO BOYCOTT BECAUSE IT'S ON SOMETHING I'VE NEVER USED BUT I STILL HATE IT BECAUSE IM A BANDWAGONING FAGGOT" is fucking hilarious.
I mean origin isn't even that bad, and you aren't going to be using just steam forever nomatter how convenient it may be.
You don't even have to launch it after you've downloaded and installed the game.

Yes, why can't we have standard DD where all our games are at.
Yes, why can't we have standard DD where all our games are at.
Because that is a monopoly, which is illegal from what I recall. having one service, that nobody is allowed to compete against is fucking stupid. You can still add the standalone game as a non Steam game just fine. So you can keep your precious list of games intact.
In origin I can just download the game and never run origin again. Unlike with steam, I don't need to run origin at all. It's just so easy. I don't know what's the fuss about.
And no I was not that guy, I hate drm, especially the one that forces me to stay online or has limited installs.
Why would you not want to use Steam? Steam is one of the highest quality piece of software I have ever used. Stop being purposefully dense, you know PC gamers have chosen Steam as their service, as their XBL or PSN. You know it's what the majority want and love.
You can argue monopoly and shit, but too bad, you have to be more pragmatic, we can't have a perfect system, sometimes one company just needs to dominate (look at Windows, just imagine if there were OSX exclusive games, and they argued "lol durr because we dislike monopolies")

Steam is good yes. But origin isn't nearly as bad as you think it is. Have you actually tried it yet? Or are you just listening to the biased hyperbole (going by the dumb rating, hyperbole)? There are no problems with using origin, it doesn't make it any hard to play the game, which, in the end is all that matters.

I'd like to have it stored on cloud and download it whenever I want from single library.

I'm sure most of the people in this thread would pipe down as soon as they actually use Origin.
They also don't compete Steam, it is EA games only

No, we want a Steam page, and downloadable through Steam without installing Origin.

I'd rather just have no Origin or Steam and just buy my games retail like in the good 'ol days.

Alice: The Madness Returns also had it's store page removed from Steam.
