For me buying games, chances are it's either going to be a boxed copy or from Steam and that's pretty much it. I'll make an exception and buy something from Direct2Drive if it's ridiculously cheap though, I've got nothing against it. Basically I can't be dealing with making another account and having my games split into even more download services, I can't even remember what I've bought from D2D, let alone some other places I've definitely got accounts so I definitely don't want to have to sign up to Origin.
I mean, I've got accounts with something like Green Man Gaming or whatever the hell it's called and there's definitely at least one game on there. I can't remember the account details off the top of my head though so that's an issue right off the bat.
Call me simple but I don't want to make yet another account to play or buy my games.
can steam and origin users still join the same servers?
Uh guys. I don't see the point. You're all acting exactly as how people acting how steam came out. At least EA is covering EADM's tracks and trying to start over. I'd at least give it a trial and see how it turns out before being all like "waaah I don't want to download extra crap to play games" even though you already did it with steam and you aren't even bothering.
I'm still getting Battlefield 3. Why? Because Origin isn't going to change my gameplay experience at all. Their servers are crap, but we've had to use them since Battlefield 1942.
Actually it's very good, you haven't even used it have you? Games are pretty cheap, download infinitely faster than Steam, and do not require Origin to run.
I have 282 games on my steam account.
Why should I go to the effort of getting an account with EA and then have some Origin exclusive games on that?
That's really unorganised and it'd be much better if it was all in one library where I can access all of them from one program?
Oh and it's faster because nobody's using it.
Not buying BF3 if forced to use Origin.
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. I was afraid they would do this ever since they said Old Republic would be an exclusive.
Let me assume something, many people will not get BF3 on PC because EA has their own digital download system leading to bad PC sales. Meanwhile PS3 and 360 sales will be unaffected then they will pull out of the PC market due to them digging their own grave.
no

its so much effort to type a username and password oh my god
and so it begins...
This is just a hunch, but maybe Crytek had it pulled. Why pull Crysis 2 and nothing else? It just doesn't make sense.
I don't want more than one game-manager programs and STEAM was my first and offers many services. I'll stay with it
I dont care if any EA games are on Origin, I will download it if necessary and will not complain
I'm not gonna NOT play a game just because of the way it's obtained.
What is this? The game is still on Steam, and I actually just recently bought it.
The new MMO, not Knights of the Old Republic.
ugh fuck you EA
i'm not buying a single origin game, i'd rather have a console version of BF3 than use their shit service
Not buying BF3 if forced to use Origin.
why
what's wrong with having steam and origin, its not like its one or the other

crytek didn't pull it, they're the developer, not the publisher

It's just the fact that I don't want every game publisher to make their own platform for all their games. Soon I'll have Steam by Valve, Origin by EA, AnotherPlatform by Activision, YetAnotherPlatform by whatever publisher, effectively raping my CPU, wasting my time by having to login 4 times every time I boot my pc, it's just a mess.
Uh guys. I don't see the point. You're all acting exactly as how people acting how steam came out. At least EA is covering EADM's tracks and trying to start over. EA has a history of fucking things up, investing any money into something EA makes as a long-term way to make money is a bad idea.
C'mon EA, you started doing so good in the last 3 years. Why stop now?
Just to be clear, I'll bring my point once again. You're acting just like you did when steam came out, acting like it's going to not let you play the games (And this was true for a long time for steam, since it would crash a LOT when you were downloading or trying to launch Half-Life 2), but now you're all using it without problems. Even though you need to have it running (Even if it has to be in offline mode which requires you to have logged on at least once), unlike Origin.
I may sound like evil shit head, but now I honestly hope Lulzsec strikes EA with saying: Move back to steam or go down.
Let me assume something, many people will not get BF3 on PC because EA has their own digital download system leading to bad PC sales. Meanwhile PS3 and 360 sales will be unaffected then they will pull out of the PC market due to them digging their own grave.
I doubt that. If you can still get a boxed retail copy, people who don't want to download through Origin will probably get that (if it doesn't need Origin to run as some people have said). I'm not saying I'm never going to get BF3 because of this, I could imagine a few people, like myself, are probably getting a little tired of making accounts everywhere to play games. I doubt many people are annoyed enough to entirely boycott a game though.
yeah making more money is dumb
They are dumb for alienating the couple million Steam users who don't give a damn about Origin.
what's wrong with having steam and origin, its not like its one or the other
Having both is unnecessary.
It's more convenient if they're all on one list.
EA is just making another terrible money grab with this Origin bullshit.
steam is already well established, i have a ton of games on it, i have a friends list and all the features i need
EA, piss off, just sell your fucking games without making me download your half assed digital distribution platform
yeah making more money is dumb
How does this make more money, explain.

I think I rather have 1 massive game library running instead of two. Building up new communities, groups and all that crap on it ( which I think will be made)
I seriously can't believe that the gaming community is this dumb. Remember the days before steam? When you had to find game exe's on your hard drive or have shortcuts plastered on your desktop? Oh wait everyone here is 12 so the answer is no.
Using Origin is not a big deal, fucking get over it. Or buy a retail copy.
Not buying BF3 if forced to use Origin.
Oh wow. Just cause its NOT on Steam doesn't mean anything. Just get the boxed copy then if your so butthurt.
I'm not using that origin shit, I'll just get my copies from Walmart.
