Call me a dick, but I'm calling bullshit on that I'd be willing to bet money that 90% of you saying "fuck EA not buying BF3" are still going to buy it if it comes out and is as popular/big as any of the terrible COD series has been. [editline]17th June 2011[/editline] At this point the only real option is a boycott. Except boycott's inevitably fail because the vast majority will still dump their cash on the product with no second thought.
I withdraw my previous spite for this. Realized how much of a tool I looked when I protested an optional online service. Still, a pain in the ass. Also, waiting until some other collectors edition rolls out. I know you want to EA.
I'm sure EA wanted it off Steam. They're bragging about Crysis 2 being "Only on Origin." They also said no future EA games would come to Steam. If they wanted Crysis 2 on Steam they would be working it out with them instead of telling us that it was exclusive to Origin and that they were done with Steam. Sure Valve removed it, but didn't they willingly break a contract?
It's not because of EA, it's because of Crytek.
It’s unfortunate that Steam has removed Crysis 2 from their service. This was not an EA decision or the result of any action by EA. Steam has imposed a set of business terms for developers hoping to sell content on that service – many of which are not imposed by other online game services. Unfortunately, Crytek has an agreement with another download service which violates the new rules from Steam and resulted in its expulsion of Crysis 2 from Steam. Crysis 2 continues to be available on several other download services including GameStop, Amazon, Origin.com and more.

It's not because of EA, it's because of Crytek.
That gives me more hope for Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3. EA just released a new game on Steam, despite them saying no future EA games would be coming to Steam. If it's the developer's choice and not EA's I don't see why DICE would keep BF3 away from steam. But with Bioware apparently making The Old Republic Origin Exclusive that does worry me about Mass Effect 3.

Really annoyed that my EADM updated to origin. Wanted to reinstall mass effect 2 because project zomboid was down for the count again due to pirates and then it took about 10 minutes for it to decide it was going to launch. I am currently waiting for it to launch now. I dont have to wait minutes on end for steam to launch damnit. [editline]18th June 2011[/editline] OH AND IT WANTS ME TO UPDATE AGAIN FUCK THIS
Looks like I'll be waiting until it comes out on Wii U. v:v:v
Dice is ea's bitch, they can't choose really.
Yeah but if a company like Spicy Horse Games(a company I've never heard of) gets their game back on Steam, with support and appreciation from EA, that tells me EA may not want to keep their games off Steam.

why is everyone saying that they're not getting BF3 because of this? go out and buy it in stores for crying out loud, if its a good game it will be worth it.
To all the people crying out that they'll boycott, it reminds me of this:
As long as Activision is with Steam, PC gaming will be fine.
As long as Activision is with Steam, PC gaming will be fine.
Too many things wrong with this.
Too many things wrong with this.
Lesser of 2 evils. EA or Activision. People love Call of Duty Call of Duty is with Activision Activision is with Steam.
Lesser of 2 evils. EA or Activision.
EA by a LOOOOOOOOOOONG shot. They're EA partners program is fantastic. I can't say that for Activisions...
EA by a LOOOOOOOOOOONG shot. They're EA partners program is fantastic. I can't say that for [del]Activisions[/del] Activision...
Don't get me wrong, I hate Activision. But they hold a huge market share, which is good for Steam. Steam isn't going to be dead because of Origin.

At least Origin is better than GFWL.

Steam isn't going to be dead because of Origin.
You think Activision won't follow up with their own exclusive distribution store? Look beyond the bigger picture, EA isn't providing competition, its selling its games on a exclusive platform that everyone has to be apart of if they want to even play games released by EA. Activision will follow up with this by separating from Steam, then THQ, then Ubisoft, then 2k Games, etc. Eventually the online distribution market turns into a exclusive program on your desktop that takes you to a publisher's store.

My main concern is that these stores aren't stable, isn't Origin like the 3rd version of a store from EA? (I remember 2 previous versions of EADM, and I vaguely remember something before that as well). Steam on the other hand is quite stable. So for me, my only two options for buying games is retail stores (where I get charged 2x as much) or Steam, because I trust Steam to stick around (and I don't lose CDs)
Guys, if you want Crysis 2 it is £12.99 on play.com for a limited time only!

Steam isn't going to be dead because of Origin.
Not a single person on the planet is worried about Origin taking down Steam. Steam will continue to do just fine, not because of Activision. All we want is upcoming games like BF3 and Mass Effect 3 to come to Steam.
Hey EA, if you're reading, i was planing to buy BF3, ME3, and crysis 2 sometime later. If it's not on steam i won't buy it.
That's dumb, why wont you buy it, because precious gabe isnt getting money?
Valve has enough money anyways. I doubt they'll go broke and homeless even if the doomsday "every developer makes their own platform" scenario happens. Remember that one article that stated that Valve had the highest income per-employee (or something like that)?

Some people, especially in other countries seem to have stability issues with steam.
That's dumb, why wont you buy it, because precious gabe isnt getting money?
because i use steam more than anything else and i don't really need physical copies.
