Also to be honest, the interface on the origin website is pretty awful. They really should learn from valve, on steam the store looks stylish and easy to use.
And I guess this will mean that none of EAs games will be on sale on steam in summer sales :(
Origin is the same thing as EADM. Calm down.
Origin is the same thing as EADM, EA Downloader, and EALink. EA just closed down their store, opened it up and rebranded it with Origin. In a sense, Origin has been around since 2005 (That's when EA Downloader started).
Guys guys!
You can chat to your friends and browse the internet, all whilst being in-game!
Innovative stuff!
This is bad
Oh EA, I was beginning to hope that BF3 actually had a chance of competing with COD. Hoping that my friends would finally play one game over another because it's simply better rather than because it's more popular. But instead you piss off the community with day 1 DLC and now you're hinting at keeping BF3 off steam. You are tragic. and you were doing so well, dragging yourself out of the hole you dug yourself into with your rushed games and poor customer service a couple years ago.
Steam is good. Usually a lack of competition leads to high prices and a poor service but this hasn't happened, valve have maintained it well with their free updates bringing in new features and very regular sales. Unless Origin serves to take prices even lower and also creates and even better service (which would be miraculous considering Steam's standard) there just isn't a point and only causes people to pay more for the same thing.
So why did they have to ruin Origin's name with this trash again
Couldn't they have just left it peacefully dead after they murdered it
fuck EA
Still waiting for ultima online 2
I don't see why having games on origin instead of steam is such a big problem for you guys unless you are genuinely autistic and can't deal with managing two libraries
If BF3 isn't on Steam I'll just buy it in the store. Problem solved.
and eadm sucks cocks
i bought bf2142 and it kept saying i needed to allow admin privileges or something similar to that and i did and no luck aswell as 20 bucks wasted :(
So will I be able to play crysis 2 on steam still? Because if it's forcing me to move my service over to origin to play a game I've purchased then I'm asking for a refund
You won't get a refund.

Why buy two cups of drink when you can buy one and refill it as many times as you want?

Wah no steam; the world isn't perfect.

This is a horrible analogy you only ever need to install a game once

This wasn't a problem when EA games like Battlefield and such weren't on steam and were exclusive to the EA store so why is it a problem now
If I can still play it through Steam, then too late EA :smugdog:
Well, I guess I know who isn't buying Crysis 2 then, me. I would only really buy it if there was a massive sale, but seeing as I would never really check on Origin if there was a sale I guess I'll just not buy it.

The only reason I bought Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was because it was on Steam. If it wasn't on Steam, I would have never bought it. And I will NOT buy BF3 if it's not on Steam (well, digitally, at least)

good for you
Wonder if this thing is going to have as awesome sales as on STEAM?
Origin better not be shit like every other non-Steam distribution service. The least they could do is make it a decent app.
Impulse is kind of nice. I like how it's more focused on just buying, download, and installing rather than that and having a community. I dislike opening STEAM to run games like Civ 5.
C'mon EA, you started doing so good in the last 3 years. Why stop now?
Spore.

well it's not ea's fault that you're an idiot
Can someone give me one good reason why not having a game on steam but available elsewhere is such a big deal
Wouldn't it be pretty cool if every single game had Steamworks

Because people like to bitch about everything. I couldn't care less on which digital distribution platform a game was sold on. I mean what the heck, I give a company money and the company gives me the game.
The End.
After all, it's the game I am after. Not the comfort to launch the game faster or having it easier accessible.
no
well it's not ea's fault that you're an idiot
Yeah, I bought a game for $19.99, oh I'm so stupid.
Wah no steam; the world isn't perfect.
That wasn't even my point though. I don't, personally, care about downloading origin and using it for just one game (well actually I do because it takes longer but it's petty so it doesn't bother me too much) because that game will be good but it's the arguments it causes, evident in this thread, which will inevitably reduce sales because people like to be able to just play the game through a familiar method, not by downloading new software and getting used to it. Convenience sells and EA have been blinded to this fact by greed.

enjoy being retarded while I play BF3
[editline]14th June 2011[/editline]
its so much effort to type a username and password oh my god
It is a lot of effort to type in a username and password, then one day wake up with our credit cards stolen because EA fucked up their Origin security, or one day we wake up and have to log on to 13 different distribution programs because every publisher wants full profits for their games. Oh and don't forget after Origins becomes successful EA will no longer need sales on their games.
The only reason I bought Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was because it was on Steam. If it wasn't on Steam, I would have never bought it. And I will NOT buy BF3 if it's not on Steam (well, digitally, at least)
Thats a DUMB reason to not buy a game. "Not on Steam? LOL NOT GONNA BUY IT"
What would you do if Steam NEVER existed?
If BF3 went on Steam it would hit top sellers
