Have they adressed the criticism surrounding no man's sky at all yet, or where all the missing features are? Last i heard murray was basically in hiding, is this incident the first time he's even tweeted since the release?
Not a single word since release. And of course they wouldn't admit to blatantly lying. Or lie about lying.

The tech behind NMS is something to admire. It's a shame there's very little assets for the engine to work with.
Honestly they need to do away with giving refunds for digital purchases for "i don't like the game" until people learn to stop fucking buying games they have unrealistic expectations for. I'm sure whoever handles all that billing / refund shit would appreciate it if people would do a little research before they spend their money and then bitch about having no idea what they were buying
Most people never will without some major systemic change in how people buy games. But, in this case it wasn't unrealistic expectations, it was them telling you things were in the game that weren't.
say what you about the game but their site is cute af
I agree. :)
it's video game development. Sometimes things just don't work out. It's not baffling by any means. ie: look at Rust when it started development compared to what it is now. lot's of things have been omitted because they didn't pan out.
four months before release tho?? features that were core to some peoples enjoyment of the game/concept?? features that had been objectively promised?? no mans sky isn't an early access game on steam. it released at full price, retail, after numerous delays. this isn't a good enough excuse.

Why did you have to drag a stellar show into this bullshit. Now I can't go into this subreddit without a shitty reference to Bye Games.
So do we know for sure that those were real builds, or could it have just been fake footage?
No, but that would arguably be even worse.
No, but that would arguably be even worse.
It honestly wouldn't surprise me if that were the case; it seems more likely than them cutting so many features they'd already worked on.
If Hello games says that isn't their statement, they are effectively saying they don't apologize for the game. Genius trolling.

The weirdest thing about No Man's Sky is that it semi-regularly gets updates. Nobody knows what they ARE, though, because they've quit documenting them since "patch 1.09," whichever one that was.
I still find it important to note that for a company the size of 16 people, they did an alright job with what No Man's Sky offered IF it wasn't for the overhyping and feature announcements that never existed in the first place.
mate there are mods for games with like, 5 people working on them that are better than no mans shit55
mate there are mods for games with like, 5 people working on them that are better than no mans shit55
modding isn't really all that comparable to building an engine from scratch
It's a very impressive technical achievement for such a small team, but it's not a very good game regardless.
Fuck you Sean Murray. Why did you have to drag a stellar show into this bullshit. Now I can't go into this subreddit without a shitty reference to Bye Games.
Does it matter? They're clearly mocking him.
it's the exploration genre's version of "cookie clicker"
what if sean murray's goals and claims were actually in the works until sony came and said "NO RELEASE IT NOW BUT WITH OUR STUFF INSTEAD"
Get back to """""""""""work"""""""". Unless they can add the content they fucking advertised, it's not good enough. I assume they'll sell it as paid DLC instead, though. Murray is a liar and a bloody snake-oil salesman, can't wait until his shitty game fades into obscurity, along with his career.
what if sean murray's goals and claims were actually in the works until sony came and said "NO RELEASE IT NOW BUT WITH OUR STUFF INSTEAD"
It's quite possible and been speculated before (including me repeating that speculation on this page), but if it did happen NDAs mean we won't hear about it for a while if ever.
Spore II
Spore still had significantly more content than No Man's Sky. Hell, with the expansions the game lets you walk around on planets surfaces too now.
what if sean murray's goals and claims were actually in the works until sony came and said "NO RELEASE IT NOW BUT WITH OUR STUFF INSTEAD"
Highly unlikely considering the game was delayed multiple times. [editline]30th October 2016[/editline] I get that people want the indie dev to be the underdog who got pushed around by Sony and their evil corporate empire, but there's nothing to support that. Hello Games just took on a project too big for a studio who had previously made a very casual Trials competitor. Bad luck hit Hello Games with the flood, but as they said they didn't actually lose much, and the hype train for the game had been at full steam since the reveal a full year before Sony got involved. All it comes down to is that Hello Games fucked up somewhere. Maybe it was a load of small fuck ups over the course of development or one huge fuck up near the end, but it comes squarely down on them. The people at Hello Games seem like nice people, and it'll be a real shame if this causes the company to go under, but you shouldn't be making excuses for a fuck up when you have no information either way.
