Find a photograph of the original painting, locate missing segment, print out segment, stick to cardboard, cut in shape of missing piece.

I personally don't; I'm on someone else's PC right now
Wow now that is moving news.
It is so awesome to see how the world still cares for actual events like some old guy who puts some pieces of a big puzzle together every few days losing once piece.
I mean this is an event that really moves the world unlike some other shit like wars or political changes.
I bet there were like 100 reporters at his house the last few weeks.
This instantly came to mind. (old man's reaction)

Just seven years, and you realize one piece is gone. Go berserk and flip the table.
Someone should donate him the piece.
i feel bad for him.
I think failing to do a 5000 piece jigsaw in 7 years is actually a bit poor, It's not that difficult or time consuming. Also, gutted, I'm sure he can get one made fairly easily.
That's a pretty awesome jigsaw puzzle, must've been nerve wracking trying to put it together.
He spent 7 years on it, so he probably only did a couple pieces a day.
The guy on "this morning" (I think) had the piece for him.
That's a pretty boss puzzle.
I wish I had a table big enough to let one sit for 7 years.
Poor old man :saddowns:
I wonder how much he wanted to kill himself
Holy shit...
I have that puzzle at home... But never did it...
How do i contact him?
"The Last Piece"

I'd love to have a puzzle like that. Something to do on sunday afternoons at least.
Although it'd suck to be missing the last piece. If that was me I'd probably just set fire to the goddamned thing or something.

Lets see you make one in under 7 years with a job and actual life.

Oh, thats right, you have neither.

It's a symbol that that old man is missing something. A vital piece of the human puzzle. The survival instinct. :v:
Have you even read the news article?
It says that the manufacture is UNABLE to provide a replacement piece, because it took the man too long to finish it, which they stopped printing the puzzle by the time it was finished.
I read it, but I must have missed that part because I didn't see it until it was pointed out to me. Thanks for helping me understand the article better.
There's bound to be another person somewhere in the world that is willing to give up their copy of the puzzle to find the piece for him. 7 years is a long time to finish a jigsaw puzzle, if I owned the puzzle I'd give up the missing piece for this man to finish it.
You could probably ebay the puzzle or something, even if some pieces are missing, out of 5000 it's unlikely to be the same piece.
Well that sucks.
Aww
:saddowns:
Now i see what they were talking about at school :v:
There's a lot of irony in this really... :v:
Please point it out.

Maybe email the newspaper or whoever had the story first.
In my opinion a massive 5,000 piece puzzle with a piece missing, is more valuable then a 5,000 without one missing. It shows that even a perfectly planned out and prepared for thing, (Jigsaw puzzle) something can always go wrong. Maybe I'm over-thinking it, but this could be interpreted as a really deep idea. :v:
When I was little I had a Teletubbies jigsaw with two pieces. I was king of that jigsaw :smug:
I don't think I'd really care. I'd just be happy that I finally got it done.
