and if you're worried about legality osu already has plenty of problems: pretty much all of the songs in osu beatmaps are used without permission and don't really classify as fair use making osu guilty of large scale copyright infringement
the game itself is also a rip-off of this, or at least started out as one
Considering peppy, no wonder he'd go with such extreme measures.
"Even so, I can strictly say that the screenshot-taking ability was already removed after the last time this came up in discussion around 5 months ago (i tried to link to the reddit thread but apparently that's not allowed here)." I don't completely understand how Facepunch works; why is this thread in the popular section when the last post was more than a year ago? In any case, I actually wasn't aware of the spyware in Osu till today. I am glad I haven't played Osu since 2014, I think, but wow, I never expected this. I am glad it was apparently removed.
I don't completely understand how Facepunch works; why is this thread in the popular section when the last post was more than a year ago?
The Popular tab is based on how many people are currently reading a thread. Because of this, old or obscure threads may make an appearance if someone on a forum or content aggregator site links to this thread and a lot of guests start reading it.

When you get lots of random guest viewers it ends up on fp_popular where the regulars see it and click Getting Ninja'd is also a facepunch regular occurence ffs
