No, I looked on the kickstarter he has a whole team working on a simple 2d rts for andriod, iphones, and pc. If you spent 60,000 of your own money and needed another 50,000 you are doing something wrong
I'm not sure if you've ever developed a game but it's not just dragging and dropping clip art; it takes a serious amount of time and work $60,000 is nothing
I'm not sure if you've ever developed a game but it's not just dragging and dropping clip art; it takes a serious amount of time and work $60,000 is nothing
You clearly don't know how to make an iPhone game by what you're saying. You can have a single guy working on this in his spare time and he'd still get it done within a year. It's not that hard. I've worked on several iPhone games before with my uncle and it gets done within a few months.
If they were following their own progress at all, they should have made a blog update or something asking for fans to chip in a few dollars so it'd add up. Yeah it's sad they came so close only to not get anything, but there's so many things they could have done to prevent that.
Sad to see this, they were so close :-(
This is gonna be a stupid question, but can't they start another? Or does Kickstarter not allow such things?
I'm not sure if you've ever developed a game but it's not just dragging and dropping clip art; it takes a serious amount of time and work $60,000 is nothing
yeah for a AAA title, an app? No, anyone can make them for the 100$ it takes to get posted
yeah for a AAA title, an app? IIRC you don't actually get charged unless the kickstarter is successful, which saves them from re-distributing the cash back.
You seem to think these people are just doing this in their spare time
Well they should if it's a fucking iPhone game, a very pathetic one at that. And 20 weeks is certainly enough to create an iPhone game if they're doing it full-time. PS. Why are you putting massive spaces between all of your sentences? It's kinda' annoying to read.
Guys, it is primarily a PC game, the android and iPhone stuff came later on.
Guys, it is primarily a PC game, the android and iPhone stuff came later on.
it is primarily a non-existent game
it is primarily a non-existent game
Not entirely true since they have some resources ready :v:
Not entirely true since they have some resources ready :v:
Incredibly shitty resources, but nonetheless they exist.
This is actually their second attempt. Here's the first one, with a goal of $500000 ! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1547218311/alpha-colony-a-tribute-to-mule?ref=category

I wonder why nobody of the team donated that money themselves or ask a family member or a friend.
I would of donated the final 28 if I actually knew
Part of me would want to be an asshole and donate $27.99.

Okay, just for the record - I am not against kickstarter, I am simply trying to understand something here. People (like you and me) can donate money (and it seems like a LOT of money people donate on here) in order to "kickstart" a project, be it a game, music, whatever. And if the goal is reached for a group of people, they get all of the money, for free, with the exception of holding up the terms (such as donating $1 you get a Thank you on our Thank you list). So essentially, people are given free money, to invest with, so that they can hopefully become successful economically with whatever product they're making, and then the INVESTORS in short, get nothing? This is basically the equivalent of giving Microsoft $10,000 in investments back in the 1980's, and then receiving nothing in shareholder stocks back. They profited from your money and you receive nothing in return.

You are NOT an investor, the company is not obligated to give you shares or any profits or anything like that since all you do is donate and in return get some stuff.

What I'm not understanding is, you're donating, not towards a charity, or a church (usual donations involve this) you're donating towards a marketable idea. You don't usually get the product unless you donate the sale price ($10, whatever, I don't think donating $1 would get you the product). Which is my ultimate problem with the whole system.
