SPOILER: JESUS DIES
Wow, thanks a lot fuck-face, I was still reading.
Bible's definitely something people should read, along with the Qu'ran and other religious books. Always good to have a touch of perspective on the mindsets of others.
Encouraging people to read the Bible thoroughly is probably the best way to keep them from turning christian
Encouraging people to read the Bible thoroughly is probably the best way to keep them from turning christian
in your opinion......
It's interesting if you skip the books that are just straight up Jewish law. Better yet, just watch that TV show that was on History a while back.
no the bible is pretty damn boring unless you are: a) a christian b) interested in the religion idk why they say it's the "word of god" because you would think an almighty being would be a better author. or at least hire better authors.
I wonder, how many people on this forum are religious?
Well, 11% of the people who did the census are Christian. Not a lot of Jews or Muslims though.

Like it or not those books are what a great deal of the world's societies are built around so can be a useful and informative read.
Probably very many that aren't vocal about it.
that'd be me, this site can be hostile at times. I'm actually a conservative Christian :O
useful, informative, interesting? sure. but it's still very poorly written/translated. it's a fucking horrible work of literature.
I was about to say that's expected from such an old book written in a different language but The Tale of Genji was written in the 11th century and it's beautiful. So either something went horribly wrong in translation or it was never good.

The bible was pretty much translated into every western language several times as those languages were formed. You see a ton of translation errors and discrepancies due to the sheer amount of variations and the times they were formed. You do also have to take into account plenty of these translations were daisy chained, where one person would interpret and translate one version, then another did that same to this first translation, then another, and so on. This results in a much less clean end result. I personally though actually enjoy analyzing the translation and interpretation variants and trying to see the common ground in them.
This should increase the Disbelief levels, all according to plan.
Awesome! Can we get a quote from the author for next week's newspaper?
He did that. in the bible.
Spoilers are seriously uncalled for. Even than, that's a stupid plot twist. So he dies for nothing than?
they are filled with so many translation errors it's worse than early Dragon Ball Z English dubs
Fans of the Koran and Torah have no taste. Jesus is my one and only Waifu.
I believe in Gaston, the god of sleep. My holy trinity is the couch, the bed and the holy recliner, and I make sure to pray for 8 hours every night.
I believe in Khorne, the God of War, Anger, Murder, and Hatred. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE.
Yeah there must be some album cover photo shoots going on or something One band ordered a pallet of bibles and it threw the stats off
Or maybe they have a hobby of just burning them (for the winter).
I don't mind people reading the bible and or convert to Christianity, just as long as they don't become a fundamentalist and shove their beliefs into people by force, however that is just wishful thinking as some people just end up being somewhat of a fundamentalist and forced it into people and become nothing more then the people that we fight against for obvious reasons.
I know of two religious Norwegians. A friend of my parents and the local priest :v:
THIS JUST IN. Massive Bible burning took place in Norway as the secular nation rallies around the giant blaze.
Pretty much all my friends and peers here in Norway are atheist or agnostic, but a few of them bought the new revisioned bible just to learn more about it, and the new changes in it.
My favorite part of the Bible is Ezekiel 23:20
My favorite part of the Bible is Ezekiel 23:20
gg.
if virgin mary is a virgin, but jesus came out of her and she is still a virgin. then who fucked her?
My favorite part of the bible is Ezekiel 25:17
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

if virgin mary is a virgin, but jesus came out of her and she is still a virgin. then who fucked her?
God I think? Some angel bloke came to her and told her God was going to get inside her and she just went along with it. As you can tell I paid a lot of attention in Sunday School
Well that's nice. I wonder what they did to the parts where Jesus walks on water.
I doubt they told the true story of him walking on the fishing jetty at high tide. (That's the way it's described in the Dead Sea Scrolls)
I got mine yesterday, been reading like crazy I like this "God" character, he seems chill as fuck
I got mine yesterday, been reading like crazy I like this "God" character, he seems chill as fuck
Except the part where he kills most of humanity because he was upset that they weren't acting the way he wanted to, because he gave them free will.
