A federal court in Washington is barring President Donald Trump from changing the government's policy on military service by transgender people.
Trump announced in an August memo that he intended to reverse course on a 2016 policy that allowed troops to serve openly as transgender individuals. He said he would order a return to the policy prior to June 2016, under which service members could be discharged for being transgender.
your source is incorrect
Unsurprising. The ban came out of nowhere and was clearly used as a distraction as the GOP was working on creating a new tax plan
Trumps not having the best Monday hahaha
Fuckin' A.
Don't feed the troll/shitposter.
Anyway, good, it was a retarded policy proposition by Trump anyway, and anyone who thinks the military is paying for any surgeries are equally retarded.
Boy oh boy is trump having a bad day today. Me? As a trans person? I'm having a good ass day.

We're all having good days :V
This was the day the American judicial system became President

unless the dems retake the senate, trump is nominating every right wing loon he can get to any bench and the senate is rubber stamping it all. if he isn't stopped we could see a stack of rediculously regressive judges

It seems the judicial branch is consistently the most sane branch of the democratic system - it happened in the UK with the article 50 case, and it seems that it's happening in America.

Rule of law baybeeee
Worth noting this is only a temporary block so it'll probably get a full case like the travel ban, though I doubt the ban will go anywhere considering it is blatantly discriminatory.
I read the title wrong and I think it's just a me thing, but I thought it was saying that Trump made a policy that forces transgender troops to reverse back to their original gender...

That was not the point for the ban, the reason was because of the side effects of some medication that these people require.
What side effects are you speaking of?
Emotional instability for one, mood swings, risks of blood clots, changes to muscle density and physical fitness.
Trans people really do get a rough time of it, more so in the army. But really what should also be acknowledged is that those who are trans and are serving are seriously giving it their all every day.

This is why the ban MIGHT be a good idea, along with general mental health tendencies.
But we don't really know yet, whether transgenderism has a high likelihood of causing issues in the military. The evidence isn't there, if it is eventually there and it affirms that there's problems, then sure, look at barring them from certain roles or service completely.
Though, the drugs are pretty problematic. If I recall correctly, the military generally sticks a burden of proof onto people to prove that they can function without stuff they take like anti-depressents. If an MTF has had an orchiectomy or SRS, and they don't get their meds, there's some serious negative effects. And even people without surgery will likely go through great distress without their medication.
Emotional instability and mood swings are temporal and only last till your body starts using estrogen or testosterone as fuel. Risk of blood clots is low unless you sit all day and don’t walk like 30 minutes or more in a day. Muscle density and physical fitness remain if you keep doing physically demanding tasks and not just stop. These ain’t job inhibiting side effects. I find your reasoning only aiming at mtf individuals and not ftms as well.
I just listed broad changes that affect both ftms and mtfs yes many of them are temporal but they're also things that the armed forces would have to deal with. For example those that come out while serving or people such as myself who are applying while transitioning.
