There is nothing wrong with battlelog.
When a game takes up a lot of memory, and you have a browser constantly running in the background taking up more memory just so you can join servers and start the game, then you have a problem.
Battlelog was pretty bad when BF3 launched and it never worked right. Its gotten pretty reliable, and as a consequence of using battlelog they made BF3/BF4 optimized for windowed mode and minimizing which I love to do.
battlelog is shit Want to change server??? NO FUCK YOU LET ME SHUT DOWN THE GAME AND RESTART EVERYTHING AGAIN BECAUSE YOUR PC IS SUPER FAST AS FUCK AND YOU LOVE TO HAVE CHROME ON WHEN YOU PLAY I hate playing with background apps, it's the shittiest gimmicky shit DICE and EA made is battlelog and i hope whoever made it has a heart attack
Yet it's still miles better than any other Battlefield game server browser has ever been.
Punkbuster can burn in hell though, it still kicks me for having motionjoy installed cause apparently using a PS3 controller instead of an xbox one is a hack.

Browsers in their basest forms are fairly lightweight. The BF2 one was a tightly packed cluster fuck of shit that took a while to finish updating. The BC2 one was somehow worse than the BF2 one in that it took even longer to actually show any servers during an update, but at least it looked reasonable. BattleLog is the best server browser DICE have ever made in my experience, they just suck at UI that contains a lot of data in general it seems.
TBH BF4 isn't on a great path either. The defibrillator should not even be an unlock in the first place for instance. The only reason they finally claim that their unlock system was shit in BF3 is to glorify their upcoming game.
The defib is nearly worthless anyways because you only have like 3 seconds to actually revive someone before they 'die' and then respawn literally 3 seconds later. There is ALOT wrong with BF4, this beta is incredibly rough, balancing is out the window with shit like instantly spawning vehicles (probably to help devs test them) and you can even open the developer's console. I wouldn't be surprised if literally everything changed come release.

The beta was nearly nothing like the alpha, and the release was a ton more playable than the beta from what I understand (I barely touched the beta due to shitty internet).

Everything is likely to be different when it releases.
They should really be slapped for how crappy this beta runs.
I get the feeling that most of the people who that really hate Battlelog only experienced it during the BF3 alpha/beta and first week or two after launch. It's gotten so much better since then. Behind Source, Battlelog is definitely my favourite server browser.
I'm so glad they said this, it gives me hope in BF4. I swear the BF3 team where a bunch of incompetent idiots
I'm so glad they said this, it gives me hope in BF4. All air vehicles should have had one type of every weapon unlocked from the start in BF3. I mean, it was indeed very fun not being able to do jack shit with jets because everyone else had locking missiles and I only had to use this fart-sound making pea-shooter to not kill ace-pilots doing flips and 90-degree turns and shit.
The BF2 menu music still gives me mental anguish because of punkbuster [editline]4th October 2013[/editline] When that music start's up you know it's game over because apparently you're a hacker
Still better than getting kicked and ambushed by that fucking loud-ass orchestra

Battlelog isn't as bad people make it out to be but I just had a few instances where refreshing server list would be a pain in the ass and most times Chrome hog up half of the processors so I'd have to use internet explorer to at least let my computer breathe tho PB will always be a pain in the ass
Did anyone else fucking struggle to unlock anything in a jet? You have a piddly little gun on the front that you have to get a certain amount of points with before you unlock anything that actually does any damage.

Back when EAUK forum was still a thing, there were a lot of daily debates on what a terrible piece of shit DICE's politics on DLC was. Anyone remembers how every "free map dlc" on BC2 were just unlocking the "new" modes for maps that were already totally prepared for it? So called, On-disc "DLC". People complained about DICE's smug "free DLC for everyone" attitude. And then some dev came out on twitter (sadly, I don't remember who that was, and obviously I can't find links now) with something close to this: "Well, look at the forums and on twitter, people obviously don't appreciate free totally new maps!". So now it's "People didn't like free maps, now they do like paid maps, go figure". The amount of free new maps BF game has ever recieved since BFBC1, ONE. And that single one was a port. I've never had a problem with Battlelog, and I like not having to boot up the game just to see if there's a server worth joining. I don't see why they can't have an ingame browser as well though.
noshahr canals, kharg island, caspian border, operation firestorm and damavand peak were fantastic, it was only operation metro, grand bazaar, seine crossing and tehran highway that were bad.
Tehran highway and operation metro are some of the best maps in bf3 what are you talking about.
OH OKAY
ive tried connecting 4 times now and the game stops responding on the loading screen this is fucking awful

Now days though you don't stand a chance.
Almost everything in BF3 was fucking terrible, but it's nice to know the dev finally realized how bad of a job they did. Just too bad they didn't have the foresight to realize how bad they had it in the first place.
DICE should be slapped for the existence of BF3
