No. Apple is a company. They make products, people buy them, and they use the money to make more products. So does Microsoft. So does <millions of worldwide companies>, and some people like one better than the other. And that's okay.
And how the MacOS GUI was completely original and totally not Xerox's idea.
Do explain
Haven't heard this one

The window, mouse pointer and icon interface was developed by xerox for their (SPARC?) workstations.
Apple stole the design and eventualy payed Xerox royalties for it.
In this day and age, originality is becoming harder and harder to get, without it exiting the realm of acceptable design, technology, and price to the masses.
I foresee much more patent chucking in the future because many companies share the same ideas; it's just how they're deployed is what makes the sales. And making new ideas is limited by the progress of technology. ... And how imaginative companies are, which it seems, not very.
Apple? I guess Steve Jobs just uses his products to cast Charm on anyone who buys it so they keep on buying and praise them like everything they make is new, original and so innovative :v: /badjoke

What about Microsoft? Did they pay Xerox?
...like everything they make is new, original and so innovative...
Nope, but Apple sued them for it and failed.

Phew, my work monitors don't have rounded edges.
Oh god mine have curved edges, but it has a curved bottom edge, am I safe?
See the big problem is the fact that Apple has patented the basic design of a tablet. A design that is not really unique in any way. Most people if they were to design a tablet around the time the iPad first came out would have came up with a near identical shape and size.
To make the problems worse, many tech sites do not actually tell you what the problem is when posting these things, leaving you unsure what the issue was, whether it is a software issue hardware issue, or look a like issue.
To top it off the patent system regarding technology needs reworking. Sure you are protecting your ideas. But when your idea is now obsolete it is still protected as though it was just released. If any person touches this patent despite it being old, it can be just as bad when the thing was new.
I got a macbook as a graduation present, and really it opened my opinion on it. I probably wouldn't of bought it out of my own money, but Im realizing there are a lot of convenient little things that I find my self using everyday, that I didn't on a PC. But this doesn't mean that Im an apple fanboy or anything. It does not hide the fact that I am about to order a copy of windows 7 to dual boot.
Apple however as a company is a baby (but Microsoft has shown its immaturity before too). Really Apple needs to stop worrying about its competitors, and just work on improving their products, as all other businesses should, especially businesses selling technology. If they do that, people take notice.

But still, software patents need to die.
Apple's been suing a new company like every month.
i thought Apple was manly, i guessed wrong
How can there be a Mac only user on Facepunch? This is a PC gaming forum with a side of general discussion and some hobby forums snuck in.

Well, if a company owns a specific item, one does not have to improve on it.
Also, how come it's ok to hate on every other company but Apple? No one complains when EA, Activision, Microsoft, Sony, etc are absolutly slaughtered on these forums, but so much as a "I don't care for Apple products" is inviting a wave of Apple Apologists who will analyze each and every part of your post and start getting all vicious?
the xoom sucks & and the manufacturers deserve to get sued for trying to sell it
