Well that has a lot to do with the silly little self image problem "Canada" seems to have where instead of trying to invent its own identity it just tries to be "not america".
Its like an angsty teenager rebelling against its Dad.
Also the reason that Canadian politicians are homogeneous in ideology and only engage in nit picking dose not change the fact that they do it, which was my assertation.
"Not America" is a good identity to have since most modern american ideals are terrible
Frankly I'd prefer the identity of "Like Sweden but bigger", but baby steps
America needs some dosh

That's my pipe dream for America.
How bout we stop the stupid drug war, get out of Afghanistan and scale back the defense budget?
That might solve half the problem.

But sweden is filled with godless commies and america is capitalist jesus land why would you want a downgrade
But sweden is filled with godless commies and america is capitalist jesus land why would you want a downgrade
Because I'm sane.
Doesn't help, the banks are the problem. Inflation is built-into the federal reserve banking system through the system of Fractional Reserve-banking.
They would simply shout COMMUNIST LIES!!! like they normally would. :colbert:
I think this, as well as the debts of other countries, shows pretty effectively that current economics and monetary systems fail really hard and need to be replaced or amended.
You'd think with a massive debt, such as this one, that there would be some kind of really negative consequences but look at the debts of any country in general then look at the types of conditions and society that are able to exist continually within it.
It doesn't fucking add up.

Twelve, to be exact.
and you base this unfounded claim on exactly what evidence?
I agree with Novistador, public education in this country is a piece of shit. I'm a Junior in high school and the problems with our educational system are becoming all too apparent to me. I don't think 100% private schools is a better option though.
I think high schools should have an admissions process like colleges do, and the schools should be able to kick out kids who preform consistently poorly and make it a dangerous place for others. Right now we have high schools with metal detectors because our laws force people who don't want to be there to come there. Imagine if Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold had the option of just not coming to school.
That's a terrible idea.
Not spending won't bring us out. Obviously spending it in the wrong way will drive us further into debt. But not spending at all will make it even worse.
I'm sure they store the debt in a Double precision floating point number so if we keep spending it cause it to go out of bounds we won't have any debt anymore!
Maybe they can pray for everything to go away... right?
Guys?
:v:

If that was the case, why not just a byte? No debt could be larger than $255.

I really don't think the perpetrators of the columbine massacre killed all those people because they didn't want to go to school and were being forced.

But of course! How could we be so naive?
We need to stop forcing students to go to school at gunpoint and then chaining them to their desks while they are there. What's that? We don't do this? Students DO have the choice to not show up if they don't want to?
Oh dear it appears you are wrong, I'm sorry
USA actually had no debt 175 years ago today. What happened? I'm embarrassed to be American.
That's a lot of time.
All of the money in the world is debt.
Indeed, Toothpick.
You seen 'Money as Debt' by any chance?
If not, it's a pretty good animated documentary and I'm sure it's on youtube.

Are you talking about fiat currency,
or any form of material exchange.
because the first one is perhaps understandable but the second is totally asinine.
Also, Germany is supporting most of the rest of the fucked up EU nations, so it's only a matter of time until the shit hits the fan there.
We have huge dept here also: Nearly 1.900.000.000.000, and we are smaller than the US.

Blame your state. It's not the federal government's job to regulate education. Even though it would make a hell of a lot more sense if everyone around the country learned the same things at generally the same rate.
USA actually had no debt 175 years ago today. What happened? I'm embarrassed to be American.
It's because the United States imports more than it exports - this creates debt.
Do you want to maintain your cheap cost of living? Then shut it, and deal with it.
Looks like they are taking the Colbert way of getting out of debt

Someone care to explain what exactly is going to happen if USA keeps getting deeper and deeper into debt?
I really don't think the perpetrators of the columbine massacre killed all those people because they didn't want to go to school and were being forced.
No, they killed all those people because they were so caught up in the bullshit superficial life of high school and either bullied or excluded by their peers on a daily basis as a result of being obligated to attend the institution facilitating it.
But of course! How could we be so naive?

Oh dear it appears you lack any sort of understanding of the situation and aren't even taking it seriously, have a box. How about you take a minute to actually look past a problem and see its root cause?
We just aren't forced to attend a broken institution by laws, in most cases its seen as the only way to make it in life. They obviously aren't being chained to their desks, not physically, and not always legally, but the chain is still there.
Most often it hurts more to say screw the system than anything else, its being stuck between a rock and a hard place. I think alternative options should be available to those who want to succeed in life, and they should have some measure of protection in their endeavors.
