Someone care to explain what exactly is going to happen if USA keeps getting deeper and deeper into debt?
When China finally calls upon interest payments, the United States won't be able to pay it. Won't be able to borrow more money. Standard of living decreases.
Someone care to explain what exactly is going to happen if USA keeps getting deeper and deeper into debt?
China gets angry, push leads to nukes, the rest is bottlecaps
Someone care to explain what exactly is going to happen if USA keeps getting deeper and deeper into debt?
US losses superpower status and becomes a regular 1st world country with an overproduced nuclear stockpile. [editline]19th February 2011[/editline] Oh yeah and poverty and unemployment will skyrocket.
Oh, so its Soviet Collapse mk.2?
I'm not particularly concerned for the people who are actually stupid enough to start drinking bleach and driving off cliffs because the government doesn't tell them not too (which despite my most cynical estimation is far from being a majority) But nothing would prevent people from starting a private "don't run with scissors" or "medical pills are not candy" campaign, but I think it would be largely unnecessary, the majority of the population is not mentally retarded.
So if a company were to sell a product that seems alright, but is actually very harmful... then we simply blame it on the consumer? [editline]19th February 2011[/editline]
The fact that as many people have pointed out public schools are horrible, and they are preventing there being a market for mid range education. Thers no competition, theres no innovation only scrambling for government dollars and various bickering unions.
The reason the education system is so fucked up is because of what you advocate. Funding is based on real estate costs, what you want is just that. That the poor get a lesser quality of education.
Oh, so its Soviet Collapse mk.2?
Well no not really cause the Soviet Union collapsed because there was a dictatorship and massive oppressions and unjustified killing for over 80 years, not to mention everyone but a few central asian countries said that this whole union thing isn't working out economically wise so they all just kind of chill-fully said fuck it and so the whole thing just faded away. But debt was hardly a factor in its collapse.
Atleast you can SOMEHOW still spend a fucking fortune on the army.
Atleast you can SOMEHOW still spend a fucking fortune on the army.
as the leader of the free world, america needs to spend as much as it does on the military to preserve freedom around the globe god bless america :patriot:
Spending on military expenditures is actually a decent way to stimulate economic growth.
Spending on military expenditures is actually a decent way to stimulate economic growth.
For a small portion of the population.
For a small portion of the population.
No, it affects the national entity. Problem is military spending doesn't increase the standard of living, which nobody would stand for.
Spending on military expenditures is actually a decent way to stimulate economic growth.
not all of the military expenditures do
ITT people get suckered by ignorant populism
Woohoo Obama has great spending habits. Lets fix this by lowering taxes!
anyway USA is stuck with a military-industrial complex and isn't going to end it any time soon
We already have Iron Triangles from the CIA, FBI, and numerous other offices.
not all of the military expenditures do
There's nothing in the world that can positivity affect everyone within the economy, but almost all of military expenditures affect the economy at a national level, which inturn increases economic growth. Production of military goods affects the industrial sector - which is where much (if not most) of the population is employed.
How bout we stop the stupid drug war, get out of Afghanistan and scale back the defense budget?
While we're at it, lets just cure every disease known to mankind, and give every homeless person in the world food and money. It sounds good but it's easier said then done.
While we're at it, lets just cure every disease known to mankind, and give every homeless person in the world food and money. It sounds good but it's easier said then done.
The three he mentioned are difficult due to government. The two you mentioned are difficult due to resources.
Whatever he increased government spending by 126% when he bought Louisiana
Yea but before that he reduced government size by 75% and reduced the military by 50%, generally halving the government spending by around 50%.
How bout we stop the stupid drug war, get out of Afghanistan and scale back the defense budget?
If only the US Government were as smart as you. Sorry, let me rephrase that, if only the US Government had an ounce of common sense like most of us here.
If only the GOP was as smart as you. Sorry, let me rephrase that, if only the GOP had an ounce of common sense like most of us here.
Fix'd
This is why the democrats politics are completely stupid. It hasn't worked and it won't. If they keep going, they will spend their country into complete bankruptcy. Then our economy will completely collapse. It is why people need to vote in more sensible politicians.
;28139580']This is why the democrats politics are completely stupid. It hasn't worked and it won't.
Haha, what is "the democrats politics", and why are they stupid?
;28139580']If they keep going, they will spend their country into complete bankruptcy. Then our economy will completely collapse.
Well considering the Republicans now have control of the House, they should initiate some appropriation bills and decide what to do. Let's see what they do...

Well considering the Republicans now have control of the House, they should initiate some appropriation bills and decide what to do. Let's see what they do...
If they are not effective they should be out as well. I hope they present something that makes sense though. More spending just won't work.
;28139683']More spending just won't work.
What's the alternative to stimulate a receding, deflationary economy with rising unemployment?
Just print more money, NOT! This debt is going to be hard to get out. Good luck USA.
America needs another World War to get out of Debt.
America needs another World War to get out of Debt.
War doesn't reduce debt, it spurs the economy forward. And it doesn't even do that anymore.
War doesn't reduce debt, it spurs the economy forward.
But the economic growth from the increase in capital created for the war effort does.
And it doesn't even do that anymore.
There hasn't been a war as significant as Vietnam.
