Some of the newer pokemon are really ridiculous though. I mean, this ones got fucking spikey anal beads spinning around it.

Aw, just when I thought he was a cool looking guy.
Actually, I believe Ghost existed in Gen 1. Gen 2 introduced Dark (Which was immune to and was super-effective against Psychic) and Steel (Which resisted Psychic.) I believe Bug was also made to be super-effective against Psychics.
I know, I said that.
I said ghosts that weren't weak to psychics.
For some reason i can't even imagine, in gen 1 the psychic types two counters (ghost and bug) were all filled with pokemon that were also poison type, and therefore weak to psychic types
Dark and steel types were the real true counters to psychic types, look as Scizor, being bug/steel is was the perfect thing to destroy psychic types
Goddammit, not its not.

A little unfair because they're bugs not non-functioning features (That is, it wasn't intended for them to work this way, rather than being intentionally being put in without realising that they're bad).
I suppose that's half of the point of sequels, though.

Ditto can turn into anything.
The icecream will allways be an icecream.
How is this still popular...
Feels like they ran out of ideas once they had those Pokemon with the baggy pants that steal things.
How is this still popular...
Because children still exist. Any other questions?

Because it fun.

Ghost did exist, but it only had three moves; two which did set damage, and the last being incredibly weak.
R/S/E and D/Pe/Pl kind of dropped the ball, but I thought B/W had some really imaginative designs.
That being said, another long-running Japanese series with similar themes but unrelated plots tried a direct sequel to a main series entry, and we got this steaming garbage:

so I don't know what to think about this.
Because it fun.
Yeah there are a lot of fun things what makes this stand out among fun things. I have no idea since I never played any past Red/Blue
why's it need to stand out? can't there be multiple fun things?
Because it's the major force for handheld console sales and has managed to stay around for over a decade and stay popular? There aren't actually that many games that can do that with sequels coming out every year. What about it makes it so popular still?
same reason super mario's still around I guess

Well they change it up somewhat and add lots of features.
It's not exactly the same thing every time and it can get addictive.

Everyone knows about it. Everyone is familiar with it. Everyone will buy it.
It's pretty simple, it's Call of Duty in a nutshell.
people still play pokemon?

I think Psychic always was weak to Bug, but there just weren't goodbug moves that inflicted good damage at the time.
I still have no idea how people don't think Mario hasn't been sucked dry to the bones of its marrow itself and say Pokemon has been milked dry.
GodDAMN, not even cod has these many games.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Mario_video_games
I'm well aware those can be cameos and whatever and so on, but ffs you guys start fires over Activision shooting 3 cod titles that look alike (and are infact, sequels) but don't even wait a second every time Mario shits yet another game.
20 years! Compared to 3 games of cod in a couple or few more years...
I think Psychic always was weak to Bug, but there just weren't goodbug moves that inflicted good damage at the time.
It always was, it's just that bug has almost sucked and in the first two generations most bug types were also poison type and therefore weak to psychic attack
I think it's safe to say the most biggest mistake in Generation l was that almost everything was either pure poison or part-poison.

Difference is that each update/generation has a significant amount of changes compared to the previous releases. That and you won't be paying $15 for access to Kanto in HeartGold/SoulSilver

Seems like a rhetorical question is all.

As far as gameplay went, I kinda liked X-2
As far as gameplay went, I kinda liked X-2
what it had in gameplay mechanics was ruined by the lazy re-use of everything and embarrassing story telling
I didn't get further in White until just after the E4, but does the story leave room for sequel material? Gosh this feels weird, but as long as it isn't 3DS exclusive, I'll probably get it.

N flies off, Ghetsis escapes, and Kyurem remains unexplained so yeah plenty could happen here
