Han Song Ryol, the director general of U.S. affairs at North Korea’s Foreign Ministry, said the Obama administration “crossed the red line” by personally sanctioning Kim. “The Obama administration went so far to have the impudence to challenge the supreme dignity of the DPRK in order to get rid of its unfavorable position during the political and military showdown with the DPRK,” Han said. “The United States has crossed the red line in our showdown. We regard this thrice-cursed crime as a declaration of war.”
That time of year again (User was banned for this post ("Crap thread title" - postal))
That's a pretty clickbait-y thread title. Like, at least word it a little differently.
That time of year again? More like that time of week again.
Title is not accurate. NK is claiming the US declared war on them, not that they themselves are declaring war on the US. Not the same thing at all.
um well actually they declared war first by um... declaring war in like 1950 and never agreeing to end said war. we declared war on them kind of for actual reasons back then seeing as how their troops were about 50 miles from Seoul SK
Good luck Kim you're gunna need it if you assume that means war.
Homefront?
If north Korea actually gets a bomb onto us soil, there will be one less country on this planet.
Title is not accurate. NK is claiming the US declared war on them, not that they themselves are declaring war on the US. Not the same thing at all.
I tried to change the title but it's no longer working
I'll wait until an actual declaration of war to start panicking. And when I say panic I mean continue playing Overwatch as I hear an ICBM fly overhead
I expect to see them parachuting into our midwestern towns by next week.
Get your Wolverines jackets, beanies, and bumper stickers on my etsy shop!
Thanks for the clickbait title m8, scared me
that title is more than a little misleading
If we go to war with NK can we claim it as our own when we win? I hear they have a lot of megacities that are empty, we'd be happy to fill them
If we go to war with NK can we claim it as our own when we win? I hear they have a lot of megacities that are empty, we'd be happy to fill them
because putting a population of americans in the most anti-american place in the world is a good idea.
because putting a population of americans in the most anti-american place in the world is a good idea.
it worked for the romans
Get your Wolverines jackets, beanies, and bumper stickers on my etsy shop!
To be fair, I'd hope every person would identify themselves as Wolverines if fhat actually happened. Red Dawn is fucking dope
Get your Wolverines jackets, beanies, and bumper stickers on my etsy shop!
I thought Red Dawn was just the Soviets and Cubans though?
If we go to war with NK can we claim it as our own when we win? I hear they have a lot of megacities that are empty, we'd be happy to fill them
I think your thinking of China. Also OP scared the shit outta me with that title.
What a terrible title.
Well, they do this every year, so it's like 50 Wars Combo by now?
I thought Red Dawn was just the Soviets and Cubans though?
I think it's NK in the new one? I don't remember, only watched it for Adrianne Palicki.
they're DEFINITELY gonna do it this time, guys! before was a warning, this is for real!
Hypothetically, how long would a war with North Korea even last? Not even fucking entertaining the idea of who would win that fight, its so one sided its hilarious, but how long would it last?
help indeed. my european comrades, I'll miss you guys. Keep the torch of civilization going.
Hypothetically, how long would a war with North Korea even last? North korea does have more troops in the military, but they have trash equipment and trash morale.

North korea does have more troops in the military, but they have trash equipment and trash morale.
They also have an untold number of bunkers and tunnel systems, a stockpile of both dirty bomb and nuclear weapons, chemical, and if some reports are to be believed, biological weapons as well. Think Vietnam with less jungle and more hills and valleys, but a NorK could pop up right beneath your feet. The only way that anything wouldn't be affected would be the Chinese stepping in and either defusing or setting up a coup. Even then 2.5 million soldiers who have been fed by the state for years would probably still have some ties to the state. In all likelihood, Wed see something like a two to three year campaign with a 30 year occupancy followed by rouge soldiers popping up for years afterwards like what happened with the Japanese. Farther from that the economic as well as military aftermath would be a nightmare. It's safe to assume the highways and freeways built by the north wouldn't be able to hold the heavier American equipment in any manner. A prolonged air campaign would also render them useless for the lighter tanks and APCs as well. One of the main dangers is actually the artillery strikes the north is capable of. Their artillery can both hit Seoul as well as it's surrounding areas. One of the biggest concerns would be getting civilians out of the area. Another reason for the prolonged air campaign that would probably be in the best interest of all parties would be because of the amount of rockets and artillery the north possesses
followed by rogue soldiers popping up for years afterwards like what happened with the Japanese
I can't imagine North Korea having holdouts for very long. Not in this day and age on the Korean mainland, rather than scattered islands in the 40's and 50's.
a stockpile of both dirty bomb and nuclear weapons, chemical, and if some reports are to be believed, biological weapons as well.
They use theirs, we use ours. And we have a lot of ours.
Hypothetically, how long would a war with North Korea even last? Not even fucking entertaining the idea of who would win that fight, its so one sided its hilarious, but how long would it last?
That depends, to what extent are they getting their asses beaten?
In all likelihood, Wed see something like a two to three year campaign with a 30 year occupancy
HAHA oh no, no fucking way. Iraq in 1991 had their shit together a hell of a lot more than the North Koreans do now and it turns out Russian tanks are actually pieces of shit and the 120mm Rheinmetall gun is lethal to everything. That was with Iraqi tanks being uparmored T-72s while North Korea's #1 tank is a T-62 clone. By the way, the T-62 was such utter shit that when the Russians made it nobody wanted to buy it so they pawned it off to Middle Easterners and the North Koreans were the only dumb motherfuckers on the entire planet to actually copy it. Then later when the Pokpung-ho came out they double downed on that shit, so their main (Chonma-ho) and their best (Pokpung-ho) are both copies of a failed replacement of the T-55. A single company of K2 tanks could effectively hold off the entire Nork armored corps for however long they had ammo, it's got armor on par with the Abrams with the same gun. We're not measuring this conflict in years, we're measuring it in days. Anyway, moving on,
They also have an untold number of bunkers and tunnel systems,
Good thing Afghanistan and Iraq shifted our focus precisely to defeating both of these.
a stockpile of both dirty bomb and nuclear weapons, chemical, and if some reports are to be believed, biological weapons as well.
What is MOPP for $400, Alex.
Think Vietnam with less jungle and more hills and valleys, but a NorK could pop up right beneath your feet.
lmao what No, North Koreans are not mole people. Settle down.
Even then 2.5 million soldiers who have been fed by the state for years would probably still have some ties to the state.
You mean the soldiers who routinely forage for food because North Korea's logistic system is run by retards and fuckups? Their number and their "ties to the state" mean jack shit when they're hilariously under-equipped and facing a technologically superior force in a conventional war.
Farther from that the economic as well as military aftermath would be a nightmare.
No, just the economic aftermath would be a nightmare. There wouldn't be a military aftermath, everyone expected Iraq to be bogged down by Republican Guard insurgency but all that happened was celebration, lawlessness, and then that devolved into chaos and spiraled so far out of control it let the jihadists move in. Turns out if you beat a military force so fucking hard they piss themselves it tends to make them not fuck with you. Amidst having no equipment, ammunition, general supplies, food, or just support there isn't any incentive to keep fighting.
It's safe to assume the highways and freeways built by the north wouldn't be able to hold the heavier American equipment in any manner.
It's safe to say any combat in North Korea would demolish their shitty roads anyway. Fortunately the military has these guys called engineers who can figure out solutions in the field.
A prolonged air campaign would also render them useless for the lighter tanks and APCs as well. One of the main dangers is actually the artillery strikes the north is capable of.
I like how you mention air strikes as a reason why the roads would be wrecked so bad in one sentence and then bring up artillery in the second. No, between the ROK counterbattery fire and a constant stream of airstrikes from both the ROKAF and USN/USAF the lifespan of DPRK artillery would be woefully short.
Their artillery can both hit Seoul as well as it's surrounding areas.
Maybe the Koksan can do this but it sure as fuck wouldn't last long enough to do it for long because there's batteries on the border right now at this very minute waiting for somebody to take a potshot at Seoul. Oh, and the Koksan? Can't pack up and move fast enough to avoid the inevitable hardcore big dick prison-style ass fucking it would receive within minutes of firing the first shot.
Another reason for the prolonged air campaign that would probably be in the best interest of all parties would be because of the amount of rockets and artillery the north possesses
That and fucking demolishing the handful of good planes in the KPAAF's inventory. (if they're even able to get off the ground)
