Full-Scale Replica Of Noah's Ark Planned for Kentucky Creation Museum at cost of $24.5 Mil

Noah did it by himself.
Right. I have a feeling they won't be doing it with just one guy building the damn thing.
Also, how exactly would one even build a boat large enough for 2 of every species on Earth?
And how the fuck would it float when fully loaded?
Finally, they can build a replica of the arc to prove how it DID fit all species onboard.
...oh wait.
Fleas are about one thousand species of small insects in the order Siphonaptera, including several hundred species in North America.
I wonder how Noah pulled that off with the tools of his time.
And to think that $24 mil could be spent on something useful....
The museum is entitled to spend money on whatever it wants to.
They are asking for donations. Donations better spent helping I don't know... the homeless or one of the other millions of actual problems we have in this country? I don't remember the lack of a full-sized ark causing people to go hungry in the streets, it'll just be money going towards the ark that will contribute to that.
How very humble of you guys, that amount of money could do wonders helping the poor like your absurd religion supposedly advocates.
Funny how people bitch about deforestation, but Noah made his ark out of what again? Oh yeah.
Suck it Wildlife Conservation Agency.

I don't support giving money to the Church when I see the pastor pull up in an Escalade.
That's bull, and he knows it. Whatever happened to giving back? To respecting others for their own preferences and beliefs, and accepting others how they are?
Honestly, if we like people because of what we had in common, rather than hate them for what we don't, we'd be a lot better off.
I saw the head of the museum on Religulous, he was a real nutter.
I think he's gay too, just had a feeling.
He's also Australian.
Go us.
Waste of money.
Jesus Lord, why would you waste that money. It's just 24.5mil dedicated to making people realize "Oh fuck that can't fit all the animals"
That's why I want them to do it.
"Behold it's finished!"
"Jonah this won't won't fit 2 of every animal"
"...shit you're right"
"What do we do now?"
"Well, I'm going to look for other answers, and perhaps stop my retarded crusade against scientific theories, in fact, I think I may become an evolutionary biologist"
"You're kidding right?"
"Of fucking course I am Dave, clearly god made all the animals into little pygmy animals for them to fit on the ark."
It'll be cool to see in a photo but nothing more.
It's because they are fucking retarded.
I do not understand how atheists manage the unbelievably high levels of cognitive dissonance it would take to not understand this.
We had abortion protesters at my college and the leader came up to me and started trying to "Watchmaker" my ass.
He bastardized the already logically flawed and laughable "theory" by asking me how long it would take the parts of a watch in a box to form a watch.
I was like "Do you know the difference between a living and nonliving thing?" and quizzed him on various objects like birds, cellphones, and anything else in sight until he packed up his signs and left. I schooled them on the theory of evolution, the shit theories they use to support their arguments, and the bible. It is amazing how little they know about their own religion.
If i remember correctly there was a study not so long ago, that proved that atheists knew more about Christianity than hardcore Christians.
The Christians simply only believed in the parts they liked, and ignored the rest.

Well given that they're debating from a position of ignorance they logically (lol) have to believe only the parts that support their position and discard the rest as being metaphorical (god wants you to take that as a life lesson, not literally)
Why build an ark, when we have massive supertankers?
Why build an ark, when we have massive supertankers?
tankers transport oil not animals
stupid
tankers transport oil not animals

Well, you clean out the oil, and convert it to a zoological preservation vessel.
Duh, stupid.
Sure it's a lot of money to spend, but it serves the same purpose as a theme park. This will draw in religious people and they'll have to pay money to see it unless this is a free museum. Sometimes these facepunch 'atheists' really get on my nerve, just because it has to do with religion it's the most retarded thing in the world evar.
Some mentioned earlier that Kentucky also built a basketball stadium, obviously they're trying to get people out of their houses and spend money on these attractions, which isn't a bad idea at all being in the bible belt.
You know for you 'atheists' being so logical, you're dumb as fuck sometimes, stop being such a hivemind it isn't cool.

not that many people are saying it's a bad idea actually. I'm atheist and I don't think it's a terrible idea (as long as it's not funded by the state lol) because it sure as hell would be an interesting attraction and it'll draw religious and non-religious people alike
although you just know the profits will go entirely towards pro-creation goals but again since it's not a state thing, whatever

what does that have to do with anything?
You know for you 'atheists' being so logical, you're dumb as fuck sometimes, stop being such a hivemind it isn't cool.
why did you put 'atheists' in quotes like it's some sort of codeword?
in fact, why are you broadly generalizing everyone in the thread as atheists? nobody except me (in this reply) has admitted to being atheist, and only like three people (gunfox freakyme and maybe one or two others) have implied they are in their posts so I don't know why you're acting like this
what do you identify as, if I may ask?

I say 'atheists' becuse most of the kids on facepunch just do it because it's cool. I grew up christian, even went to a private school for 8 years and I was confirmed in 8th grade which is earlier than most. I identify myself as agnostic, I like a lot of parts of other religions.
but I have to go to school now....
read my updated post before you go
also, agnosticism is not a religious belief, not even close, it's simply the idea that claims as to the truth value of things like god and the supernatural are unknowable
so you can be agnostic atheist or agnostic christian etc.
basically agnosticism and religion are not mutually exclusive
They better put full scale replicas of all 2 billion species on the boat as well.
Whats worse, creationists or furries?
Money well spent indeed. :sigh:
According to the bible the ark was 300 cubits by 50 cubits wide by 30 cubits high.
Do these people really think two of every species on this planet could fit on a boat that big?
There weren't as many animals back then because of evolution.
[editline]1st December 2010[/editline]
Also they got this really tall guy to measure the cubits.
Whats worse, creationists or furries?
Idiots who try to start a flame war.
I live fifteen minutes from here. My friends and I loved to get stoned and drive by with middle fingers out the window... But really, 24 million could be spent on something more useful than this. The Creation Museum, after all. depicts man riding dinosaurs. HOrray IGNorance!

i'm tired of hearing this every time someone mentions agnosticism
it's not a strictly defined and scientific term, you can stop trying to enforce one definition above the others
[editline]1st December 2010[/editline]
besides it seems pretty idiotic to tell someone that you know better than they do what they believe in
Noah must have been a P. rich guy.
"We are rebuilding something from our magic book, so that book must be true!"
