And what are you? And angsty religious teen who uses homophobic slurs in the place of real arguments?

Some people say using money for games and computers is a waste.

If you're entertained by a wooden boat then watch pirates of the Caribbean. We've got plenty of wooden boats so CHILL
how can you make a replica of something that never existed
How can you make a replica of something no one knows actually existed, has never seen pictures or drawings of, or building plans.
Well we know the supposed lengths, although they're hilariously wrong (half the length of an aircraft carrier or so).
"And God said to Noah . . . Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch. And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks. "
Very poorly :P
great, a bunch of money and building materials (probably mostly wood) is being used to try to convince people a plagiarized fictional story was true.
There's a huge number of rich idiots in America.
Even if they built it to the tenth of what the real thing would be like, if it would fall it would probably break the museum next to it.
Actually, I completely agree with building this now. Do it.
I like my state even less now.
I'm sorry, can I and all of the starving children in the world have that $24.5 million instead of you religious imbeciles building a boat that doesn't even work?
Thanks.
Also, aren't replicas supposed to be of something that exists/once existed?
You could say that about ton's of things that people spend their money on.
Just say they're idiots, no need to come up with hypocritical reasons for yourself.
i'm tired of hearing this every time someone mentions agnosticism
it's not a strictly defined and scientific term, you can stop trying to enforce one definition above the others
what do you mean
in the context of god and the supernatural? no that's the dictionary definition, sorry
ag·nos·ti·cism
–noun
1.
the doctrine or belief of an agnostic.
2.
an intellectual doctrine or attitude affirming the uncertainty of all claims to ultimate knowledge.

agnostic
—n
1. a person who holds that knowledge of a Supreme Being, ultimate cause, etc, is impossible
2. a person who claims, with respect to any particular question, that the answer cannot be known with certainty

agnosticism
A denial of knowledge about whether there is or is not a God. An agnostic insists that it is impossible to prove that there is no God and impossible to prove that there is one.
[editline]1st December 2010[/editline]
besides it seems pretty idiotic to tell someone that you know better than they do what they believe in
again, agnosticism is not about belief it's about knowledge. I don't know any more about the god they choose to believe in any more than they do - nobody does, and it's inherently unknowable and cannot be proved
I mean sure they know more about the scripture and dogma they believe in but that has nothing to do with agnosticism

Yet the poor, who are smarter, suffer.
awesome.
According to the bible the ark was 300 cubits by 50 cubits wide by 30 cubits high.
Do these people really think two of every species on this planet could fit on a boat that big?
No, they just needed enough space for a few common ancestors :v:
Well, you clean out the oil, and convert it to a zoological preservation vessel.
Duh, stupid.
That actually sounds like a good idea. BP should do that to some old tanker near retirement, it'd give them some of their good name back.
No, they just needed enough space for a few common ancestors :v:
We already discussed this. Even taking "common ancestors" doesn't work out because evolution has still happened.
Horses and cattle can't have fertile offspring. Tigers and lions can't produce fertile offspring. They are similar, but not the same species. This is true across the board.
Either you buy into the concept of evolution totally, in which case you recognize that the bible's timeline is retarded and that most things which exist today existed then as well. Not their "common ancestor".
Or you buy into the Bible's timeline and believe that a "common ancestor" existed during the creation of the Ark and that they were placed on the boat. After which macro evolution would have STILL HAD TO OCCUR to produce the animals we have today.

So the animals are going to live on a boat.
Really.

Considering they're talking about a ship roughly the size of a naval frigate, nope.
:10bux: says somebody will burn it down.

Oh guys, guys, he's figured us out guys
Yeah, I'll admit. Atheism is simply the product of nonconformity. Has nothing to do with the fact that it is the only logical conclusion you can reach given the current understanding of the universe, nope, not at all
Pack up and go back to church everyone, the gravy train is done
One guy building that boat by hand would take like 1000 years.

Well gravity is just a theory.
That actually sounds like a good idea. BP should do that to some old tanker near retirement, it'd give them some of their good name back.
It is impractical, it would take several years to remove all of the petroleum, sludge, heavy metals, and other toxic substances completely from the storage areas. This is why older tankers are scrapped, it is far cheaper and practical to disassemble, and replace the ship with a newer, specialized vessel.
