They already said they were waiting for Microsoft to announce the next Xbox so I don't think so.
Maybe they changed their mind; they're announcing a live event a month in advance an attempt to gain a lot of attention. What else could possible warrant so much hype in PlayStation land?
Imagine if they show off games that support 4k resolution or full 1080p with aa one can dream.
Imagine if they show off games that support 4k resolution or full 1080p with aa one can dream.
Or next-gen engines *cough* Source 2 *cough*
As a Playstation Fanboy, this makes me hard. [editline]1st February 2013[/editline] Only going to buy a Vita after a price drop tho.
Or a fruity biscuit bar.
All I know is that it keeps me regular -ly away from the section of the store that sells the Vita heyo I should write for saturday night live
PS home ported to the vita announcement
Imagine if they show off games that support 4k resolution or full 1080p with aa one can dream.
They wont have any games that play at 4k, even high end PCs struggle to do that (with decent graphics settings). It might output 4k video though, considering the big 4k push recently.
I can hear it now: NINE HUNDRED AND NINETY-NINE US DOLLLARS!
Oh come on! I get a PS3 and now they are announcing PS4?!
New ridge racer version of PS3, $59.99 price increase
They already said they were waiting for Microsoft to announce the next Xbox so I don't think so.
Have you ever heard of the phrase bait and switch? I wouldn't count out Sony from doing any kind of crazy shit this year. They've got to make this new console work or it's game over for them.
Imagine if they show off games that support 4k resolution or full 1080p with aa one can dream.
Yeah it's going to be a wee bit o time before games have 4k Let's wait until 1080p actually is a standard in games first with AA lol
I don't think people realize a lot of the games they play are 720p upscaled. I think if we see 1080p with AA in the next generation of consoles, it's going to be just as amazing as seeing 4k resolution.

COD games for example play at around 600p on consoles and then are upscaled [editline]31st January 2013[/editline] I hope the next generation of consoles focuses on putting out 1080p with a good framerate before they start adding all kinds of new shaders and effects. Resolution & Framerate > Fancy shaders and the like
Vita price drop? Why? It's worth the price, plus it's only like $50 more than a 3DS. If anything related to a price drop, it should be the memory cards for the Vita. I hope this announcement is that they're going to overhaul the OS for both the PS3 and Vita, and make them actually good. None of that account locking bullshit.
"Introducing the new 'PlayStation Connect+™'!" "For only $69.99 a month, you can enjoy multiplayer games with other people in the world!"
Ah yes, 20 days to announcement, 10 months to release, and 3 years until the games come out!
They wont have any games that play at 4k, even high end PCs struggle to do that (with decent graphics settings). It might output 4k video though, considering the big 4k push recently.
It's upscaled obviously.
didn't they say they were going to wait for microsoft to make the first move?
actually that was nintendo
Oh come on! I get a PS3 and now they are announcing PS4?!
It's been seven years, of course.
How about ps2 games for the Vita? I've wanted one for a while, but haven't been interested in any of the games.
WSJ said that it's gonna be a PS4 announcement. "The WSJ is confirming what we all saw in Sony's slick video teaser for its upcoming February 20th event: Sony will be announcing the PlayStation 4. Citing the ol' reliable 'people familiar with the matter', the WSJ says that the PS4 will be announced on February 20th and be released later this year. The WSJ also reports that Sony will try to throw in more "social gaming aspects" in the PS4, focusing more on how people "interact with the machine" than the sheer hardware power of the system. Sony had considered ditching the disk drive and using game downloads but decided that video game file sizes would be too large and Internet connections may be too slow to handle the load. Which means we can still expect the ol' disk bay to be in the PS4. The announcement of the PS4 will beat Microsoft's Xbox 360 successor to the punch, it's unclear if the actual next generation system will too. Both are expected to launch by this holiday season." This is from Gizmodo of course. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323701904578276672168365276.html " Sony Corp. is planning to unveil its next-generation home videogame console during a February event, showing off a successor to its current PlayStation 3 system. The Japanese electronics giant Thursday unveiled plans for a special PlayStation-themed event set for Feb. 20, teasing fans to "see the future" at the event. People familiar with the matter have said the new device will make its debut there, beating Microsoft Corp. to the punch in announcing its own next-generation game machine. Sony's device will be released later this year, these people said, and will spar against Microsoft's own machine, which is also expected ..." is what WSJ said.
Please no gimmicks or paid online, just upgraded specs and better menu screen. And of course, a good selection of release titles. And at a reasonable price. please sony i still love you
Please no gimmicks or paid online, just upgraded specs and better menu screen. And of course, a good selection of release titles. And at a reasonable price. please sony i still love you
Did the Move sell well? There will be some gimmick to the 4 but hopefully it'll be a nice side feature or something. What they need to know is that their console is fine, the controller is fucking awesome (I swear to god if they dare change it...) and that it is one of the best media center solutions out there. They need to build up on their strengths and worry not about being radically new.
I hope there might be some info of MGS Ground Zeroes, though I don't think MGS is Sony exclusive nowadays
Only interested in new consoles for better PC ports
It's upscaled obviously.
Would you really want a 1900x1080 image upscaled to 4k? That's stretching it to over 4 times the size of the original image.
