And you still don't understand that what happens online can still affect your personal life outside your own house, especially when the people bullying online are also the ones irl. Pathetic.
Except for the fact that she moved away from them. Unless you're saying she went back to them, which isn't exactly the best idea ever, if I recall...

It's online, anyone can see it, if she moves to a school close to her house, since there's nothing on her moving out, just about moving school, it could spread there.

The best she could have done was lay low for a while, get completely new friends and never ever even look back. Stuff like this isn't uncommon, except for the part where it ends in suicide... If things were that serious, there should have been more attention from the parents or the school, but it was a very stupid idea to go back on messaging services.

They'll be so much happier afterwards."
Everyone please stop post You are not as smart as you think
She secretly signed onto new apps and the bullying resumed. This is a terribly depressing story, but I can't help but facepalm at that detail.
At one point, the mother had pulled her daughter out of school and transferred her to another, closed down the girl's Facebook page and took away her cellphone.
Posting this, thread is 8 pages long so it's probably already been posted but you people are dumb so I think it would help to post it again This is not just an online thing

There's always gonna be that one douche who starts it all up again. Oh yeah, and schools won't do JACK SHIT about the situation.
incoming social warriors calling for bills to imprison people who say mean things over the internet.
The people in this thread absolutely disgust me I just cannot believe some of you
She secretly signed onto new apps and the bullying resumed. This is a terribly depressing story, but I can't help but facepalm at that detail.
Why was it stupid to do that? The burden isn't on her to isolate herself from her friends, its on them to stop bullying her. She was at a new school, probably making new friends who wanted to contact her outside of school, chances are she was trying to put it behind her. She got a kik messenger and didn't reactivate her facebook, kik is pretty smalltime so its not unreasonable to assume the people who bullied her wouldn't find her on kik Any sort of reasonable person would not expect these people to care as much as to follow her once she had left the school A reasonable amount of time had passed since she left, so she was probably expecting them to have forgotten - again, a reasonable thing to expect The fact is this girl was 12 years old, making a bunch of new friends she loved after a traumatic experience she had and she wanted to put it behind her. This is not an unreasonable or stupid thing to want. This girl was 12 years old, she was just a kid. If I was that age I'd probably do the same and so would most people. Anyone who thinks this girl was weak or stupid has absolutely no understanding about the realities of bullying in the modern age. Social media is everywhere now - turning it off is cutting out a big part of your life in terms of your ability to socialise, especially for a girl of 12 years old who is still learning how to socialise and become friends with people. Furthermore online bullying isn't just name calling, it can be incredibly traumatising and isolating as an experience. Suicide is never the choice you want to make but I honestly cannot believe there are people in this thread who believe that the blame is on her for being bullied.
is it me or has this been happening a lot recently
is it me or has this been happening a lot recently
i think it's just been getting more attention than it used to
I'm still wondering as to why she didn't talk to anyone about the fact that the bullying had continued.
Probably was afraid.
You don't get it, do you. Email, cell phones, etc is a social media. I can promise you that you'd probably rather message someone than send them a mail through the post office
No, I don't think you get it. From my understanding of the term Social media, refers to "interactions among people in which they create, share, and exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks." Nowhere did I see it mention mobile phones or other such devices. I consider a mobile phone a form of communication not a social media device, well you could argue that a smart phone might be.
Why was the title changed?
Whichever mod changed the title is really trying for the biggest dick award. I think a good idea is to peg a mod's/admin's name to thread title changes, like what happens when someone gets banned. edit: Mods should also learn to capitalize titles properly.

Nice title change. A fucking 12 year old should be worried about 12yr old shit where were the parents at?
If you're able to kill yourself because someone made fun of you online, you're fucking weak. I got bullied a lot too,but suicide...?
Cyberbullying. There's no such fucking thing, jesus. If it's people who know you in real life, then it's just harrasment and bullying, with no cyber-, and that's the whole problem. If it's random people who try to harrasss you, then quite frankly, you're an idiot to pay attention (and if you're 12 years old, then your parents are idiots). Either way, no such thing as cyber-bullying exists. Why people want to invent shit from thin air so much...
Probably was afraid.
When you've tried that once and it didn't change shit, or just made it worse, you just don't do it. Basic reflex.
haha man you guys are fucking assholes
the irony is incredible
I got bullied a lot too,but suicide...?
People react differently to bullying, something that might seem the same or less severe than something you managed to get through can be the end of the road for others This girl had no way of getting a social life at her age because of the way the bullies harassed her, so she believed she wouldn't ever be able to and killed herself, as nothing that had been done before that made a difference
wow, this is still going on? this fucking thread man. just because you guys are "hardcore bully victims" who pulled it off fine or "ignored it" to prevent bullying doesn't mean that everyone in this world are capable of doing the same thing. everybody has different limits. your limit could stretch as far as being imprisoned for a year in a mudhole with barely any food and water, but not everyones limit goes that far. it isn't "weak" to not be able to go far before falling apart, they can't control that. it's just wrong that everything should fall on the bully victim. oh, she is being bullied over the internet? lets remove her tools of communication which she is dependent on because of someone else! see the logic in that? just because you guys are perfectly fine without social medias and whatnot doesn't mean that this girl was. this girl was born in the 2000's when social medias really skyrocketed. most people who are growing up this day use social medias from young age. they become dependent on it because everyone else has it. there is literally no point in bringing up stories about how you were bullied and use that as an arguement of why it was stupid of her to suicide because you guys pulled it off fine. there are different levels of intensity when it comes to bullying and some just deal with it better than others. she reached her limit, not your limit.
cyberbullying is a real thing and you should feel bad for saying it isn't its not only people who know you offline, when its online, anyone with an internet connection can take part in it and even if you were to block all of those assholes sending messages probably every day, what stops them from making new accounts? so yeah cyberbullying is real please don't say it isn't in the future tia
No it isn't. Because unlike IRL bullying, you can just plainly ignore everything, it's nothing more than a text on the screen. Oh my god, a random guy sent me a text message "you're a fatass gay asshole". Feelings. Hurt. Calling it a real thing just degrades the problem of an actual thing, that can in fact ruin lives (like the case in the OP).

Really, that's quite the achievement.
Good job at ignoring all the posts in this thread contradicting your bullshit. Really, that's quite the achievement.
I don't really care for bullshit, sorry. Saying that "cyber-bullying" is a real separate entity on its own is plain wrong and idiocy. Everyone who believes that is an idiot.
