Gay is fine and all... But damn is transgender annoying.
You're not a woman trapped in a man's body. Stop being so delusional. You have a hormone imbalance, coupled with some psychological factors accounting for the delusion. To believe you're a woman trapped in a man's body, you're going to have to start arguing ridiculous things like souls and religion.
Houston, we have a problem.

What is so hard to understand: some times the genitalia don't match the mind. They develop separately, with the thousands of fetus malformations out there, why is it so impossible that someone could develop a female brain in a male body?
Again, she is lesbian. Read people, read!

Care to post proof of this condition instead of speculation?
Klinefelter's syndrome doesn't even make someone transgender... Yet if anyone would have an excuse to be, it would be someone with it.
I guess Texas isn't full of super religious people after all.
Yea, tails is a furry too incase you missed that.

A gay mayor? it's a Gayor.
Don't think this is Texas changing as a whole, Houston is like the San Francisco of Texas.

Just being honest, this probably wouldn't have happened if it was a gay man.
no it is
Unless you have lived there, stop post.
I lived in Austin for 7 years (which is one of the most openly gay cities in the US)
And this proves Houston isn't intolerant
and I know San Antonio isn't intolerant. That's three major cities in Texas that are majorly tolerant. (And this is all based on personal experience)

Why does this have to be a city over..
i dont mind gays, but i dont want them stuffing it down my throat, and certainly not my childrens!
Explain.
umm besides the fact that everyone's an asshole, its all around a shitty industrialized city
galveston is pretty nice however, despite storm damage at the moment, and san antonio is a nice place too
You're all thinking of Georgia.
Texas is full of gays and other "cool" groups of people.

Is being transgender a mental disorder?
A psychological condition is considered a mental disorder only if it causes distress or disability. Many transgender people do not experience their transgender feelings and traits to be distressing or disabling, which implies that being transgender does not constitute a mental disorder per se. For these people, the significant problem is finding the resources, such as hormone treatment, surgery, and the social support they need, in order to express their gender identity and minimize discrimination. However, some transgender people do find their transgender feelings to be distressing or disabling. This is particularly true of transsexuals, who experience their gender identity as incongruent with their birth sex or with the gender role associated with that sex. This distressing feeling of incongruity is called gender dysphoria.
According to the diagnostic standards of American psychiatry, as set forth in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, people who experience intense, persistent gender dysphoria can be given the diagnosis of Gender Identity Disorder. This diagnosis is highly controversial among some mental health professionals and transgender people. Some contend that the diagnosis inappropriately pathologizes gender variance and should be eliminated. Others argue that, because the health care system in the United States requires a diagnosis to justify medical or psychological treatment, it is essential to retain the diagnosis to ensure access to care.
In other words, it's a delusion. Whether you see it as a positive one or a negative one is up to you.

That says nothing about them being delusional. However, it does say:
A psychological condition is considered a mental disorder only if it causes distress or disability. If it were a delusion, it could be fixed by therapy alone, which is most definitely not the case.
Isn't Houston in Texas?
I hope it doesn't get murdered like the last gay mayor/government-anything was that was elected.
ps: aren't Texans southern-super-christians, aka would never elect gays, or anything that goes against their religion?
you fucking kids, you're not looking for Texas, what you described is called Alabama. STOP CONFUSING THE TWO
