Hey if you have a lot of that lying around in your house save it
if you ever get a fire... you know the drill, it's CODE RED TIME!
To those of you that don't drink soda: what do you drink instead?
Tea. Lots and lots of tea.
More or less skimmed the article, but did they record the amount of intake people were having in these studies? I find it hard to digest the effects if you're not chugging copious amounts of the crap.
I'm fire-proof, for fucking sure. I wonder what superpowers ramen noodles and doritos give me.
Surely I must be able to levitate or something.
Not sure why people are surprised by this.
I have impaired fine motor skill controls.
My mom was had a Pepsi once.
:tinfoil:
+30% fire resist.
But seriously why is this in those drinks.
I love it. 'This stuff isn't present in coke, but it's present in all the other ones!'
Guys it sounds like a fucking sham to get you to buy less mountain dew/other shit, and more coke.
This actually crushed my spirits a little bit. I instantly recognized Brominated Vegetable Oil by name because it's what makes Fresca look so gray and misty and awesome. I fuckin' love Fresca. As a kid I found out BVO did this and have actually liked that chemical specifically since.
Now this fucking comes along.
I've quit soda all together. A 1-2 cans a week isn't bad, but I really try to stay away from it now.
Oh fuck, I drink soda as my primary hydrating source... what do?
I drink like 2-4 soda cans a day, sometimes even more on weekends. Fuck.
Damn wasn't expecting facepunch to hate soda so much.
Water
What does that taste like and where can I get some?
Juice, Dairy/Almond/Soy milk, Water (Among other things)
And if you are really craving the feel of soda mix some of your favourite variety of juice with some tonic water or club soda.
Eeugh. Honestly now that I think about it the only other thing I really drink is coffee water and milk.
American soft drinks taste like shit anyway, fucking corn syrup make it taste like sand.
I only drink water. So I guess I'm gonna die in a fire. You know, since water doesn't also put out fires.
So I did a bit of research since the article seemed kinda fishy
In one case, a man who drank eight liters of Ruby-Red Squirt daily had a reaction that caused his skin color to turn red and produced lesions diagnosed as bromoderma. The excessive quantities together with the fact that the man had a higher than normal sensitivity to bromine made this an unusual case.[2] A similar case reported that a man who consumed two to four liters of a cola containing BVO on a daily basis experienced memory loss, tremors, fatigue, loss of muscle coordination, headache, ptosis of the right eyelid as well as elevated serum chloride.[3] In the two months it took to correctly diagnose the problem, the patient also lost the ability to walk. Eventually bromism was diagnosed and hemodialysis was prescribed which resulted in a reversal of the disorder.
Don't drink four fucking liters a day and you should be fine. It could be bad for you, but the severe cases here are due to ridiculous amounts of it.
They sometimes sell real cane sugar versions and it basically tastes the same. Not much of a difference in my opinion.

Yeah, and caffeine is already known to be really bad in big amounts anyways.
I use 5 hour energy at times... but for work when I need it. Nothing wrong in that.
I also heard rumors that mountdew reduces your sperm count.
I sure as hell havn't been shooting blanks.
I think pop is vomit-gross. But, I can't stop people from drinking it. At least not all.
I drink water, water, water, and protein drinks that I make myself. Like Arnold Schawrzenegger once said, "Why give the body something it doesn't need?"
You've got to treat your body sometimes, give it a little wine-n-dine, just feeding your body the bare requirements for it to function must be hella boring. Excess shit from soft drinks may not be good for you, but they are a fuck ton more interesting to drink than water.
And hasn't Mtn. Dew been known to cause various problems for like, most of the products lifespan?
This explains why I have so many open wounds without any noticeable reason.
Water
I think that'd be worse for my health than soda. It's tinted brown with sediment at the bottom, ick.
man fuck soda. I was addicted to caffeine (3 or 4 cans of dew erryday) a few months ago and I'm getting over it, and I stopped drinking all other sodas, as well. This makes me feel even better about not drinking that goddamn battery acid anymore.
Its been a joke in my family for years now that Mountain Dew "Looks like Toxic waste, Tastes like toxic waste, glows like toxic waste, and is about as healthy for you as toxic waste." Oh how unintentionally right we were.
I'd rather be unhealthy than go without mountain dew tbh

I'm have a Pepsi Throwback right now.
It's smoother, and leaves you with less gunky taste afterwords.
I thought everyone knew that soda puts out fires.
Without even touching it.
I only drink those drinks in slight moderation so from the sounds of it, I'm alright to keep doing it that way
