German courts rule that ISPs shouldn't have to block websites.
well this is good but there is still the little issue of censoring violence.
Little is an understatement.
Any censoring is bad, really bad. At least in the 21st century.

well atleast they're not banning them for violence unlike a certain country(which is also a continent) in the southern hemisphere.
Ach ja. Deutschland ist ein sehr gut bundesland.

Of course, as soon as the legislature comes round, this ruling will be meaningless. And if Germany follows the trends of other EU nations, then it will.
It's a short victory in a lost war.
Neat.
Now let's push for this to be adopted EU-wide and it'll be a small victory for the internet
The EU have been hinting that this is the correct thing to do over the last year or so, I would love for the EU parliament to officially say that censoring things on the internet is bad.
How is UK internet censored. Asking because I don't know and would like to know more.
There is a voluntary system used for blocking CP (which isn't run by the police and is technically illegal but that's another matter) used by many ISPs but its issues come from the fact it silently blocks pages with fake 404's. It came to the public attention when they blocked Wikipedia a couple of years ago. There's also the recent block of Newzbin because its a "bad" site.
Finally some sensible courts.
Actually we have one of the least censored Internet. Less censored than that of Australia, the UK and many other countries.
Umm, no.
Umm, no.
Umm, yes. Read the PDF a few posts above.
Except EU legislature tends to be anti-clamp down. The courts on the other hand tend to be more happy to do it.
