We just call it "Winter" here in Canada.
hear ye, hear ye, self proclaimed expert of the seasons! tell us your secrets to having snow edit: i built a badass foot and a half snow pusher out of plywood. i'll take a picture of it tomorrow, it's boss
I live right in between where all the major snow blizzards are hitting, and where all the major rainstorms are hitting in the south. So basically, for the first time since I've lived in Ohio, we've got an ice storm. Literally every inch of everything is covered in a solid sheet of ice, even the snow that was on the ground previously. Pretty funny walking your dog in it. Kicking up snow causes ice chunks to fly across the snow like it's a lake of ice - pretty cool.
We got our High school canceled tomorrow because it was going to be a low of 14 Fahrenheit and possibly icy in Northern Texas, wow. I guess I find it weird, having lived in Michigan and Wisconsin for half my life.
14F = -10C, damn you guys are pussies. Schools never close here even when it's -30C (-22F) Jesus Christ.

This is the view from my back door. You can't easily see it in the picture, but that snow is seriously deep.
I do not understand how entire cities can just shut down because of a little bit of snow, driving isn't hard if you're not stupid
Cities have lots of dumb people, sadly.
Cities have lots of dumb people, sadly.
Especially in positions of power.
Nothing happens here in California. :sigh:
It's times like these that make me glad I don't live in New England anymore. Though California has pretty inconsistent weather.
Hmmm, snow is piling up. Still snowing. Snow plows haven't been by my house in hours. Food supplies dwindling. I love you Facepunch, please remember me.
no school tomorrow ! :buddy:
Raining in England. Yep. Some grass...fields maybe.
Virginia VA did not get shit.
All joking aside, it's unsafe to leave your house in New York City. I can't leave my front door, the ground is covered with ice. It's worse to attempt driving, even in my mom's Jeep it's practically impossible.
That was the weakest "monster storm" ever. I live in upstate new york and the reports were so bad they canceled school ahead of time. We have not had a snow day in five years. It just doesn't happen, and they closed it thinking this storm might be half as bad as predicted. We got like three inches of snow and the roads are fine. [editline]2nd February 2011[/editline]
I have never driven on anything other than all-season radials and have never had an accident on icy roads I do not understand how entire cities can just shut down because of a little bit of snow, driving isn't hard if you're not stupid
Driving on snow barely even requires any more thought than driving on normal roads. If you drive how you are supposed to be driving anyways (not slamming on the brakes, not taking turns at 50 mph) there is pretty much no way you're going to have a problem until the whole road has ice, and that is solid ice, not snow. Snow actually gives pretty damn good traction.
We had pretty heavy snow here in Germany too in December but it fell over 3 weeks so nothing too serious. Man I wish like half a metre or more would fall over night just to see how society would react.
This is a common blizzard up in Ottawa. Like it's just another day.

In fact, I have maybe two long sleeve shirts.
Mother of God. Texas here, we've got three inches of solid ice on the ground, rolling blackouts and the high for today is 18 degrees Fahrenheit.
Hah, I was talking to a guy on Skype who lives in Ohio last night. It pretty much went like this "Holy shit a tree just fell over!" "BRB holy crap branches are hitting my house!" "Holy crap I'm gonna take pictures!" "Shit a tree just fell on the powerline to my ho-" And that was the end of that. He's gonna be gone for the next week.
Mother of God. We got some more snow last night and we're also having rolling blackouts as well. :frown:
Virginia VA did not get shit.
I feel you bro.
ILLINOIS HOLLa snow everywhere
It just rained here all day. Literally 20 minutes away it was ice everywhere. Also this bastard of a storm stopped the shipping of my new GTX 580, which is stuck in Illinois!
In southeast Kansas there are 20 foot tall mounds of snow in town from plowing only major roads. It took my family and I a day and a half to dig out of our house, we just now managed to pull an F250 Superduty truck out of the driveway. There are cars and semi-trucks flipped over into drifts so deep they're nearly buried. Everything is shut down. We're very, very fortunate this hit us two years ago and our power companies took major preventative steps to stop blackouts.
There's like 5 snowstorms piled on top of each other here on Long Island, it's nuts
