I'd argue but I'm so broken I can't really type Liking the music = coolio Having concerts = what the fuck
Of course, your entire argument falls down when you consider that enough people like it that they are able to hold a concert.
Isn't this Hastune Miku the one who "made" that vegetable song?
what vegetable song? That's a pretty vague description for a song.
I'd argue but I'm so broken I can't really type Liking the music = coolio Having concerts = what the fuck
And you didn't go to said concert. A lot of people who like the music did. Your point...?
Yeah, but most simplistic, catchy Vocaloid songs like that are rather old and are only still around because they're popular mainstays from when the Vocaloid 'genre' was young. Most recent Vocaloid hits are a lot more fleshed out and dramatic; it's growing all the time.
It's bound to grow, not only does the Vocaloid act as a replacement for a singer, it allow people who don't have the voice, or looks to become hit songwriters.
what vegetable song? That's a pretty vague description for a song.
This:
What the flying fuck is wrong with people? Who the hell goes to a concert to watch a giant screen of a fictitious person perform pre-recorded and uninspired garbage? There's no artistry or allure, there's no performance, no excersize of talent and exhibition of practice and hard work, it's pre-rendered. It's fine for a youtube video but what the fuck, people attend "concerts" for this shit? What the hell? I'm dying inside watching this. I didn't think the world could get any better at destroying everything good about music after Bieber and Boy Bands and BOTDF and Brokencyde, but I was just wrong, so wrong. I think I'm going to go cry.
Try recording insane amount of voice files, have them be synthesized on the fly, and make millions of dollars by selling it, then get it to be extremely popular in other countries. This technology is amazing! Were at the point were lazy bums can type in lyrics and have a computer synthesize it instantly

One of my favorite Vocaloid groups, Supercell, were just a normal band trying to get by without a singer when they discovered the Vocaloid software. Their music combined with the popularity of Miku's image made them take off like a rocket after that. It's a really interesting phenomenon to read about. And the best part is that it doesn't sound bad, especially when used right. You'd think a 'robo-voice' would totally degrade the quality of the production, but in a way it actually creates its own unique sound.

Wake me up when they use it for something more substantial...
yeah its from japan

Again, like I said in the Video Subforum thread about this. When they can do this Please call me to be amazed. I'm not talking about the instruments, just the feeling behind the words. Even Carl Sagan's voice auto tuned seems to have more feeling then these synthetic ones. Hell, GLaDos has more feeling.
I still remember five or so years ago I was messing with prototype Augmented Reality toolkits and she was one of the test models that used a bunch of fancy plugins like relative velocity and gravity.

The 'magic' of Vocaloid is more about the community behind it and how totally unknown musicians without access to a good singer can use the software to give the vocal element to their songs that they previously couldn't. And even though it does lack 'feeling', it's generated its own unique sound that separates it from songs with regular vocals. Vocaloid is definitely imperfect in many aspects, but like any other instrument with limitations, I think that adds to its feeling of uniqueness.
I don't mean to gripe, but how is this news?

Back in the 80's and back, everyone had their own voices. You could tell which band was which from how the main singer sounded and and how the instruments were put together. You couldn't confuse the Clash with Led Zeppelin, or A Flock of Seagulls or any other band. Every one had a unique voice. That uniqueness is slowly being washed away with autotuning and now we can just illuminate that with this. This just doesn't click with me, its the whole idea of perfect that just doesn't click because imperfection is what gives something character. The waver of a singer's voice adds emotion and you just don't get the same omph from vocaloids.
Bitch is totally lip syncing.
So this is what this stupid thing I see every now and then is
Augh, weeaboo BS. EDIT: Ok, bit of an ignorant/misstated post when I made this post. I more meant "Augh, incoming weeaboo BS" Dumbs, now. NOW!

Vocaloid definitely can't match up to the soul, oomph, and waver of a real singer; those things can only be simulated to the best of the Vocaloid program user's ability rather than naturally produced. But I prefer to see Vocaloid more as an instrument rather than a full replacement or competitor for real vocals. And when you get used to the unique sound that it has in its own right you begin to appreciate it more for its own style. Some people have done a spectacular job with bending the limitations of the Vocaloid software to make it sound realistic, though. Just look at this (weird intro and visuals aside...): And yet most major Vocaloid users continue to use the same old imperfect sound because it's become sort of its own thing. If people wanted real vocals at this point, they'd go elsewhere. But in the end, it's all a matter of opinion. To each his own. There are definitely a lot of examples of modern music trends that I myself could also rant about, but what's really the point? People will like what they like and complaining about it won't stop anybody from liking it. v:v:v
Agreed, its not the worst but I definitely wouldn't consider it an instrument. That's giving it an excuse to stay the same soulless way it is.
Sharon Apple anyone?

My only interest in holographic technology is the intergration of laser tag against Holographic AI.
Japan needs to confederate, like from the whole planet.
This is so fucking dystopian. I fucking love it, I want one in Times Square going 24/7. Maybe the presidents giant head shouting out laws.
This is auto-tune taken to the next level. No singing required
Why let the people support artist when WE CAN BUILD THEM?
Hatsune Miku is awful
