it doesn't make it sound any better though :\
Neither did the first phone, the first rifles weren't that powerful either, they pretty much made this without any knowledge on how to do it before starting on it, since it's the first of its kind. Give it a few years and it will sound a shit ton better, it's also based on how good the artist working with the program is.
They're getting pretty close with the holographic stuff. I'd like to see them get to the point where they don't have to use the screen any more.
WOW how deliciously generic and uninspired.
It's bound to grow, not only does the Vocaloid act as a replacement for a singer, it allow people who don't have the voice, or looks to become hit songwriters. This:
This actually pissed me off for some reason.

HERE'S the video I was looking for. This is a prime example of everything I love about the technology both in vocaloid synth'd voices, the projection integration with a live band, and the fact she manages to get an entire crowd to move more than I've actually seen at any REAL live concert I've been to. the synth allows for harmonizing within itself, attaining a level of sound that the ever-growing population of autotune-raping idiots could only dream of, and the fact she doesn't need to breath allows for calm and even singing even if it's super fast-paced and she's dancing on top of it.
What a waste of good holograms. This should be weaponized. I swear this waste of technology is so bad it could potential cause a tsunami.

I didn't move, I didn't even watch a quarter because my ears bled. Also NO FUCKING SHIT SHE'S MOVING WHILE SINGING! She's fucking fake. That doesn't mean shit, infact it only makes it seem more fucking fake. When will you realize that a group of people will hate this because its so god damn fake its not even funny. Atleast those who try to hide the autotune are hilarious to watch. This just makes me grind my teeth in rage. you're angrily protesting something that you admit doesn't even exist like it's a species bent on replacing humanity as a whole
Of course, your entire argument falls down when you consider that enough people like it that they are able to hold a concert.
Ad populum.
you're angrily protesting something that you admit doesn't even exist like it's a species bent on replacing humanity as a whole
No I'm protesting this whole synthized direction our culture is headed. I don't care about instruments or the like because you can never really replace the real thing (You just ignore it instead.) I protest this over zealous use of technology to create the same sounding vocalist OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND FUCKING OVER AGAIN.

I would love the day when they perfect this technology and with other advances manage to have computers create music and songs of their own, with holograms to perform them or sing. Imagine a holographic orchestra, playing music created by a computer. It would be amazing.

We get that you don't like it, cool. Why can't other people like it? I don't like a majority of modern music but I don't go screaming about it; I just continue to enjoy what I enjoy.
Ad populum. You're wrong.
Except it's regarding people who, in their opinion, think something is good. It would be ad populum if everyone believed in some incorrect fact, but fact is not opinion. What's fact is that enough people like something to the point where it's popular enough to feature sold-out concerts. :v: Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that it is, in fact, bad and that nobody else could possibly like it.
Eh, rage is rage. Its just the misconceptions in this thread that annoy me. Not everyone has them but there are things like the idea that if given to the right person the voice will sound different. It won't, because it pre-recorded sounds from the same singer, ergo, it won't sound different. There done...I'll poof away now. I'm going to go blow shit up :neckbeard:
you highly underestimate the range of voices that can be produced. Any voice can be simulated given the right algorithms, tonality isn't pre-recorded with real voices in this stuff. Hell, the vocaloid series already showcases nearly a dozen different 'characters', each based on a voice that's been tuned out. So....they are soulless moving model animations that are rendered horribly? Also Range of voices=/=lifelike Just a bit humor *tries throwing hammer through computer screen*

One last thing and I'm done, if you tone out the voice, why would need different characters, ie different libraries?

-snip,didn't read lol-
only douchebags brofist also tell me that that doesn't sound human
Misconceptions? Care to give some examples? So far I'm underimpressed by the way they're presenting this new found innovation with crappy models with clipping issues in cookie cutter anime style that seems to be a back drop to the cookie cutter style of singing this will lead to. I can make a laundry list if you want. Its superficial but its just to prove a point that what some people hear will differ from others. You may think it sounds human, I think it still sounds like a machine.
because anime is disgusting and wrong :downs:
I actually do like anime, so before you try that road I'll cut you off. That's the misconception. Note:At this point I'm not trying.
That its something different. That's the misconception.
Name for me another fictional robo-voiced anime-styled girl who has 'holographically' held a successful concert.
Name for me another fictional robo-voiced anime-styled girl who has 'holographically' held a successful concert.
Its not the action, cause that is different. Its the style and that's half the real appeal of it, not the singing. But that's for music in general so it wouldn't be fair to slam them on that front.
