wbbuuudsgsgds
Good heavens, this man is having a siezure!
Personally i'm open to a new Star Wars continuity, but erasing the original trilogy is outright just NOPE; and by nope I mean "Stop Right There Criminal Scum" level of NOPE. If they're going to do time travel, then they should keep the original timeline and "new" timeline as two parallel paths that exist, with the traditional Imperial timeline and "continued" Republic timeline (the one that Lucas is planning) in "conflict" with one another, be it with the Empire and Republic being in direct conflict (like Old Republic), or with the two timelines themselves ending up bleeding through into one-another. All in all, I disagree with Lucas wanting to nuke the Classic timeline, but I wouldn't object to having other "canons" (different Star Wars timelines) present.
You know what I'd like to see from a Star Wars TV series? Basically, a police show but with Jedi. Show like, Obi-Wan and Not-Annoying Anakin basically roaming their galaxy together. Something with good action, plenty of room for suspense and drama, and something that would be genuinely fun to watch.
Presumably Anakin would just tell the Jedi council that Palpatines a dick and they'd kill him.
I wonder how that'd work because of how distrustful the council is of Anakin and how Yoda is like the only one that could perhaps beat Palpatine.

If Anakin hadn't picked that exact moment to be a dick, Mace Windu would have killed Palpatine and everything would be done. Mace Windu actually threw Palpatine's own force lightning back on his ass.
I don't get why this matters it's a television series "what if" it doesn't affect the films in any way obviously
Learn. To fucking. Read.
Maybe base it during the time of KOTOR.
Nah, have it follow a group of Mandalorian Mercs during the GCW.
Original Trilogy, good. Prequel-trilogy, bad. Time-travel-prequel-trilogy, I'm not even touching that one with a thousand kilometer rod. Why must everyone use "time travel" as an excuse to reboot a series or saga. Star Trek did this and although the movie was pretty to look at, just isn't the same. I mean, space is NOT that shiney! Every scene had a random light flashing from NOTHING. So now bounty hunters are getting this technology? How does that even work? You'd think a group of scientists would build the time machine, not a couple of gun toting mercenaries.
If it weren't for the brand name on the prequel trilogy, I would bet that it wouldn't have taken off in the first place.
It's his film, he has the money, he can do what he wants with it.
Star Wars was never good in the first place.
I think it's influences are better than the movies themselves. And lots of the extended universe is good. [editline]13th February 2012[/editline]
you think you would at least have the common courtesy to release the original trilogy UNALTERED on DVD or Blu-Ray, but no.
The Ghost in The Shell guy did a remake of the original movie with fancy CGI. I was okay with this because he put the original movie in the special features of the blu ray.
I would love it if this is true but the bounty hunters are like Team Rocket and fuck everything up, leaving the original movies alone completely.
Looks like Team Fett is blasting of again! Wabbaaafettt!
I think he is a little butthurt after the blu-ray release.
I think that it was Palpatine losing on purpose so that Anakin would do his first dark side deed and be officially dark side.
And you know what's funny about this? He's using Time Travel to do it. And, to recap, what do we know about time travel and, more specifically, going back in time and then back to your original time? If you go back in time, change an event, and go back to your original time, you've not changed the outcome at all. Simply split a universe in two. Darth Vader would still exist, as would loving dad Anakin Skywalker. They'd be completely separate, and both canon, because both would exist in two entirely different universes. So this wouldn't kill the original trilogy, simply create a fork in the universe in which both outcomes are canon.
Expect Mr. Lucas to be assassinated by a neckbeard with a sniper rifle if this happens.
Neckbeards with gook snipers.
Now, I'm not old enough to know if it actually is the originals, but the three from this release http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Episode-Versions-Widescreen/dp/B000FQJAJG have the Theatrical Versions. And I have watch all three and they are different from the 2004 releases.

Not to mention that he'll just go "this timeline is canon you're wrong if you think otherwise".
I think that it was Palpatine losing on purpose so that Anakin would do his first dark side deed and be officially dark side.
He wasn't losing on purpose, he got his ass kicked (almost literally, since Windu actually kicked his lightsaber out the window.) He just got lucky that Anakin chose that moment to complete his turn.
George Lucas troll of the year 2012.
Well no, the whole point is that Lucas wants it to be the established timeline in the Star Wars universe and that Lucas is a moron who shouldn't be allowed to make anything more complicated than a slice of toast
that's cool and everything, but it really doesn't matter and you shouldn't care
How are they going to stop Anakin from becoming Vader without the whole "Oh hey, you're going to become evil later on in life, don't do anything stupid" I'm predicting that they will either chop his penis off or give his wife an abortion. There is no way 3 bounty hunters can kill a Sith Lord.
He wasn't losing on purpose, he got his ass kicked (almost literally, since Windu actually kicked his lightsaber out the window.) He just got lucky that Anakin chose that moment to complete his turn.
Bull. Sidious was a Sith Lord, and was manipulating all of the events involving Anakin to bring him closer to the dark side and to convince him that the Jedi were untrustworthy. He was playing the weak old man approach.
in his commentary track for the phantom menace's re-release in ~3d~, harry plinkett said he got stephen hawking to watch the film, or asked him what he thought of the prequels or something, and stephen hawking said that mankind should redirect an asteroid towards earth and launch the original unaltered trilogy out into space b/c that's the only way to permanently destroy the prequel trilogy unless george lucas launches the prequel trilogy first... fuck
i think it would actually be quite interesting to see this alternate timeline.
I never expected him to do this. I expected him to edit Hayden's face onto Luke sometime in the future, but not this.
who cares if it does happen? we have all seen the movies anyway and im excited for any starwars i can get!
