Rumour: George Lucas to kill the original trilogy completely.
I used to love Starwars but I'm sick of it. I'm tired of seeing all the toys and games and movies and board games, and valentines day candy, and Christmas cards and all the other bullshit with STAR WARS shit all over it.
Why the hell has the Lego isle been stocking Starwars Legos perpetually? The last movie was in theaters years ago. "Episode 1 in 3D!" Doesn't count. Even that Cartoon Network Starwars is annoying because it's so milked.
Any possible way to milk more money out of toys or the brand name will be done with prejudice.
With normal movies like Shriek, or Wall-E, or Monsters Inc will grow out of the style eventually and you'll stop seeing them on the shelves. Like Pixar's Cars. That movie is really popular and there are SO MANY toys and blankets and food snacks with Cars on it but in a years time most of those will be off the shelf.
Starwars is a constant and it's just so annoying that you can find something Starwars related in every, single, aisle of the store. Market? Starwars Mac and Cheese! Toys? Forget about it, masks, blasters, legos, figurines, OPERATION and even Starwars toys for 1 year old +
What about bedding? Blankets, pillows, lamps etc. Plastics? Containers, jars, glasses. Clothing? Shirts, Jackets, Pants, Underwear. Stationary? Notepads, planners and calendars etc. I could go on all night.
LOOK AT THIS SHIT

PLAYSKOOL LEGO FIGURES What parent lets their child watch Starwars that young? I doubt they'd even understand half of it. Fucking-A Darthvader CHOPS Lukes fucking arm off in the original trilogy.

What do you mean who lets their child watch star wars that young? It's rated as a U (for all age) here in England so I watched it when I was about 3 or 4.

Well in Episode 3 Anakin goes to the Jedi Temple and slaughters children in cold blood. Than later he's horribly burned and dismembered in a lava pit.
That scene from the original trilogy on Hoth where they cut open the Taun-Taun(?) and crawl inside it and all kinds of other graphic content I wouldn't show to my child that young. He/she wouldn't even understand the movie.
Look at how cutesy they made the Star Wars character for the Playskool figures. It's like the movie they came from was a Pixar movie.

How else were they supposed to market a psychopathic murder and a retarded fish man to children?
Star Wars because at least the terrible movies are noncanon in Resident Evil. And while Resident Evil 5 wasn't the picture of quality, its pretty miniscule in comparison to the others. You can ultimately forgive Resident Evil 5. Nothing makes Phantom Menace forgivable.
Well the RE spinoffs sorta killed the story.
It is the worst star wars movie.
It was bland, boring and ultimately had no real purpose, rhyme or reason as to what the fuck was going on, but it wasn't bad. Just wooden and uninteresting (the pod race and Darth Maul fight are literally the only standout scenes for me anymore). Compare this to the terrible attempts at giving Anakin angst so that he becomes Darth Vader, slowly-decreasing quality in acting as the 2nd and 3rd episodes go along, and other factors that anyone else can probably point out - Jar-Jar Binks is nothing to really bitch about and Phantom Menace looks fucking decent compared to Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
I swear, it's only a mater of time before her starts doing this to everyone.

This post needs more funnies
I don't know what's worse, that people are filling their shit at a rumor that might not be true, or that George Lucas has done such a terrible job and the prequels and the special edition and refuses to release the originals that this rumor is believable.
Even if this happens, do you actually think ANYONE but Lucas would actually go a long with the loss of the old movies timeline? Fuck no they won't, that timeline has spawned so much expanded universe stuff that it can't go away like that.
He can try to change the timeline as much as he wants but NOBODY WOULD BUY INTO IT EVER, for one thing, it's ingrained into the WORLD's pop culture, it's like saying you're going to make superman not an alien.
I don't care what Lucas does at this point. I remember the Original Trilogy without any retarded edits and I'm fine with that.
I'm mostly surprised that he hates the OT. If that's true I almost can't believe that he once started all of this.
I hope few years from now someone will try to reinvent the prequels and maybe if it will look like a good idea, remake the OT, too.
I honestly find it hard to believe this rumor is true. There's no way Lucas would try to write out one of the most iconic fictional villains of the 20th century...even if he did start as a whiny teenager. I think it's possible he might not like the original trilogy for most of the reasons stated in this thread, but he surely understands that it's out there and there's not much he can do about it. I think it's just a rumor someone started, like that one that keeps floating around that Lucas is working on Episodes 7, 8, and 9 still.
I don't know, man.
At least Episode I had some awesome sound, the pod racing scene and Darth Maul. I don't remember much about Episode II other than Anakin's shitty romance and Jango Fett.
The scene introducing the clone army was kind of neat.

Kamino was pretty cool.
Total bullshit. Sounds like a fucking sitcom.
Time travel? Isn't that usually Star Trek's plot device of choice?

Jango Fett was fucking bad ass too. They actually did a decent job on him.
I can't help but imagine it would just be some terrible sitcom when they say it like that.
If it's good I won't give any fucks. I've calmed downed now and am optimistic about it. I'm afraid of Lucas' stubborn-ness though. He needs to accept that the new trilogy was bad. He can redeem himself if he listens to critiques.

That's a good point. If there's one thing from the original trilogy that George Lucas clearly doesn't hate it's Darth Vader. Anakin's fall was pretty much the selling point of the entire Prequel Trilogy and throughout those movies the viewer is constantly reminded of how he's this awesomely super-important space messiah. Of course Vader only appears at the very end of Episode 3, but it's Vader that made people interested in Anakin.
In the words of Yogurt, "Merchandising". The more of these movies Lucas can pump out, the more products can be made, and remade, and remade, ad infinum. He gets a lot of money, while ruining everyone's childhood.

Maybe they can make Anakin badass. I'm sure if Hayden is in it he'll do better, he couldn't really help it with the writing. I'd prefer an actor that's not Hayden, though.
Imagine how much the fans would rage...
All these time-traveling mercs would really need to do is convince Windu to take Anakin with him to arrest the chancellor. Anakin would have watched Palpatine kill his friends, seen the fight (and participated in it), and most likely would not have felt the urge to help him. Alternately they could just nuke the arena on Geonosis, depending on when they end up.
They need to fuck off from the Prequel/Original Trilogy timeline and do a movie centered around the Kotor timeline or beyond the original trilogy.

That's not the point. Even if Lucas hates everything else about the original trilogy, Darth Vader, as he appeared in those movies, seems to be something that George treats as his own. I'm not sure if he'd be willing to replace Darth Vader with anything, even if the replacement is technically the same person. I'm sure he'd be fine with replacing the original Vader with some alternate George Lucas Vader, but disowning the character entirely is not something I can see him doing.

I think he did fine with what he was given.

Just to let everyone know that this is an article based quote taken out of context.
Here is the the Source.
The orginal quote the article is based around is this:
One of the series’ first episodes will involve a group of bandits acquiring the capability of time travel, and using it to travel back in time to stop Darth Vader from ever existing.
Note how it never uses the word successfully. They could imply that destiny cannot be changed or something in the episode.
Most dysfunctional family ever, Well, Except for mine
I admit, Episode II was actually my favourite of the prequels and Episode III was my least.
...and then the show turns out to actually be good.
Wouldn't that be funny.
The Clone Wars series turned out all right in my eyes, so It's possible.
Perhaps they should stick to those kind of series for Star Wars.
After all the bitching George's received he could have learned something.
But that could be wishful thinking, we'll find out soon enough.
