How is religion a lie? Sure, some use it for the wrong reasons, sure, some are corrupt, but that doesn't necessarily make it a lie. Evolution may have more physical evidence, but no one knows it absolutely, no-chance-of-it-not happened, so in a way, you put your faith in scientific belief, whereas we put faith in religion. As for the rest of what you said, he said religion is a Dark Age-ideal, and that people "must get out of the Dark Age". I take it that he's saying people would be better off/more intelligent without it, though he fails to regard at all other peoples' beliefs or the fact that many religious people are intelligent.
Faith is a belief, trust, or confidence, not based merely on logic, reason, or empirical data. So no. I don't put my faith in science.
They spent thousands of dollars manufacturing, buying and shipping BIBLES. That is downright shameful.
Hey, it's not that bad. Right?
If I was a Haitian, I'd scrap the book and put the solar panel to good use.
even on the moon!"
Sound can't travel without air, unless they expect it to go through the ground. Stupid people :science:
Maybe they should be broadcasting science lessons instead.
Maybe they should be broadcasting science lessons instead.
Or maybe, just maybe, they should send food and antibiotics.

They can tell them all about how earthquakes happen.
Or maybe, just maybe, they should send food and antibiotics.
Maybe they should send fungus that is both food and antibiotics. :smug:
Maybe they could make bible shaped food.
Or maybe, just maybe, they should send food and antibiotics.
Well, supposedly they have supplies but they aren't being effectively distributed. Even still, the money that went to make these books still could have been used better. [editline]05:17PM[/editline] In terms of public good
hahaha they're still people in this thread complaining how the evil americans are trying to convert the innocent haitians in their time of need, despite the fact that the majority of the population is religious
hahaha they're still people in this thread complaining how the evil americans are trying to convert the innocent haitians in their time of need, despite the fact that the majority of the population is religious
More complaining is going on about which belief is superior more-so than complaining about converting. 1/4 the people arguing are Atheist, maybe 1/4 are religion, 1/2 are "HERP RELIGION IZ 4 IDIOTZ" bandwagoners.

This image entails a narrow view of Christianity. I can't even count the number of times I've heard a sermon on how you can't just pray for something to occur, you have to actually do something about too. By allowing suffering, he also allows for joy. :catholic:
I know a lot of people here wouldn't understand, but look at it this way. Haiti is a very Christian country. I know religion has many problems, but it is also very good at consoling and inspiring people in times of trouble. Hearing the bible might be the only comfort these people can get right now.
But dey dun maed a deel wiith the devbil Dang ol' devbil man [editline]02:22AM[/editline]
This image entails a narrow view of Christianity. this is dumber than texas changing history.

But they chose to send solar powered bibles instead.

There is none to be found there. That's the point. We know hardship, so we are able to realize when things aren't bad at all. Otherwise we'd never be satisfied because we would not have experienced dissatisfaction. You cannot have one without the other.
hahaha they're still people in this thread complaining how the evil americans are trying to convert the innocent haitians in their time of need, despite the fact that the majority of the population is religious
We're complaining that those pallets of bibles could have been pallets of water, food, and medicine instead.

No, because you would have nothing else to compare that with, so that would seem normal, not special. EDIT- Besides, coconut juice is awful.
No, because you would have nothing else to compare that with, so that would seem normal, not special.
That's the perfect paradise. If God is all loving and powerful as he is, he make us live this way and make sure I never be dissatisfied. Or are you saying God isn't powerful?
Not the worst time for a bit of hope. At least Christians are trying to spread the word unlike some users here.
I'm not saying that. I'm saying you can't have happiness if you've never known anything else. A zero gravity environment would seem natural if you've never been around gravity. A perfect world would be considered normal because there would never have been an imperfect world. You would not be able to tell the difference.

Well yes, but he could also not give us free will. Would you want Him controlling your every thought and action? Edit- Well actually yes, you would, because he would make you. Oops.
Well yes, but he could also not give us free will. Would you want Him controlling your every thought and action?
He seems to have that effect on some people.
Well yes, but he could also not give us free will. Would you want Him controlling your every thought and action?
Would I care? A powerful God can make me not care.
Oh hey it's this thread again. Enjoy your shitstorm
