Male and female aren't insults though, they're ancient words that no one has used an as insult. Until now apparently.
It depends on context, if someone asked you to do something as small as that, because it makes them feel like shit, then you'd do it out of common courtesy.
Depends on context. Insults aren't designed to fit into your neat little categories, they're designed to insult people.
Yeah, but imo it's no different to when little kids call each other the opposite sex as an insult and we all get over being offended by stuff like that by the time we're mature
It's a guy. He can live whatever fairy tale he wants, he was born a guy and will always be.
go fuck yourself
The person taking offense is the only one qualified to judge the statement's offensiveness
But some people are irrational idiots who take offence to everything, but that doesn't mean everything you say to them is universally offensive
But some people are irrational idiots who take offence to everything, but that doesn't mean everything you say to them is universally offensive
This is the excuse people use in an attempt to justify the offensive things they say
Using the wrong pronoun on purpose is extremely hateful. You can't pass it off as saving time/effort or anything, it's just blatant bigotry. Imagine calling a disabled person an "it". That's essentially what you're doing here
Calling someone 'it' though is dehumanising them. That's completely different to calling someone a 'he' or 'she'. At least you're implying they have feelings
"man up and stop being so thin skinned, faggot"
-snip- wrong thread sorry
This might not be completely relevant here, but what are the actual differences between the conditions during the development of a fetus that cause gender dysphoria and homosexuality, assuming both of these originate during the time in the womb because of hormones and stuff?
Science is working to answer this question, but they can't, yet. BUT at least they're sure it happens before birth, so any claims of wrong upbringing being the cause are plain WRONG
As for the actual debate, seeing as the mother has custody, shouldn't it be her say? Or did I read the article incorrectly?
It's true that only one (german) article explained this, and I am struggling finding the words (english is not my first language, in case you can't tell) The mother has custody over the child in most cases, BUT both parents agreed at some point (long before this really started) that they couldn't agree over some questions, so they gave some amount of custody over to the youth welfare office in berlin. I admit I had never heard of this happening before this, but that's why things are so complicated in this case.
Science is working to answer this question, but they can't, yet. BUT at least they're sure it happens before birth, so any claims of wrong upbringing being the cause are plain WRONG
hmm, hopefully that also means that it might be possible to find out before birth, and potentially take appropriate measures when it is easiest to do so
Calling someone 'it' though is dehumanising them. That's completely different to calling someone a 'he' or 'she'. At least you're implying they have feelings
Is there really a difference between dehumanizing someone and denying their identity?
The pronouns in this article are absolutely mind fucking me.
Is there really a difference between dehumanizing someone and denying their identity?
You're not 'denying' them of anything. Like I said, imo it's no different to when little kids call each other the opposite sex as an insult and we all get over being offended by stuff like that by the time we're mature

[editline]31st January 2012[/editline]
You're not 'denying' them of anything. Like I said, imo it's no different to when little kids call each other the opposite sex as an insult and we all get over being offended by stuff like that by the time we're mature
Except most fo the kids that call each other the opposite sex don't have a mental condition that they're incredibly self conscious about.
Re-reading the article, it feels very much like Germany is playing "nanny-state" where it definitely should not be. I think that they should very carefully watch over the situation and maybe confirm the thoughts and opinions of the girl in order to determine whether or not she truly believes in her thoughts on gender or not. All that is needed is a determination of gender on the part of the child. And when I say gender, I MEAN gender, not sex.
You're saying he; can't take anything you say seriously after that to be honest.
Honestly, you got a dick, you're a guy whether you like it or not. :v:
Male and female aren't insults though, they're ancient words that no one has used an as insult.
The same could be said for black, white, gay... Oh, how about (and I apologise in advance) motherf*cker? It describes a person who, at least once, had sex with another (usually female) person who had at some point before the actual act, given birth to a child. It's HOW you use them, bitch! (which means female dog, if I am not mistaken?)
Isn't homosexuality thought to be more of a subconscious matter than it is genetic?
WHAT
You're not 'denying' them of anything. Like I said, imo it's no different to when little kids call each other the opposite sex as an insult and we all get over being offended by stuff like that by the time we're mature
Also the kids doing the name-calling usually grow out of it too, but when it happens all day every day, it does start to get a little irritating.
Some of the people in this thread are just absolutely disgusting people. I am of course talking about you acds.
WHAT
Well yeah, whats wrong with that idea? Also in case you misunderstood what I said as homosexuality being subconscious, I meant sexuality as a whole being developed subconsciously.
I don't get some of you folks You say racists are dicks, homophobes are morons and sexists are bad, yet you say transgender folks are born the way they are and shouldn't pretend to be something else? Holy shit
I'm confused as to how you think that contradicts itself in any way. [editline]31st January 2012[/editline] Oh wait now I do, sorry
Isn't homosexuality thought to be more of a subconscious matter than it is genetic? [editline]31st January 2012[/editline] Except most fo the kids that call each other the opposite sex don't have a mental condition that they're incredibly self conscious about.
I don't know if anyone else's definition is the same, but if it's got a penis it should generally be referred to as a he, and if it's got a vagina it should generally be referred to as a she. Unless a transgender has personally asked to be called a 'he' or 'she' I don't really see the problem. End of.

Well yes but transgendered people don't work like that, in their mind they are a woman and want to be referred too as such, I think it's best that people do.
I love how FP goes ape shit over anything involving gay rights, or trans genders.
I love how FP goes ape shit over anything involving gay rights, or trans genders.
Because they're still fairly contested issues that are still very much hurting people to this day.
Honestly, you got a dick, you're a guy whether you like it or not. :v:
Please go away and educate yourself.
Honestly, you got a dick, you're a guy whether you like it or not. :v:
you are wrong
you are wrong
Half wrong actually. Their sex is male while their gender is female. And vice versa.
