I posted my response to this on Twitter and it took 7 entire minutes for someone to disregard the topic entirely and assume I was celebrating a black persons death.
You think it's OK to have a deadly weapon just because you're supposedly healthy?
Well I own 5, even a dreaded 9mm Hi-Point, a firearm of choice of criminals.
But he used a gun because it's designed to effectively kill people, which it did and they had no chance.
Guns are also widely used for sport.
He could have used another thing to kill them. Like waited until they were loading the van up and hit them with his car.
he could have used a bow and arrow too but he didn't use either the car or the bow... I wonder why??
he could have used a bow and arrow too but he didn't use either the car or the bow... I wonder why??
You want to attack symptoms. I want to deal with the disease. The gun did not make him go shoot those people.
just want to say not all americans are dented in the head about guns, it's always just the same 15 obsessives on FP
http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/live/2015/aug/26/virginia-reporter-cameraman-shot-dead
WDBJ7 station manager Jeff Marks has described Flanigan as “an unhappy man”. “Vester was an unhappy man. We employed him as a reporter, and he had some talent in that respect and some experience, although he’d been out of the business for a while.” “He quickly gathered a reputation as someone who was difficult to work with,” Marks continued, saying that he would quickly “take offense”. “Eventually after many incidents of his anger coming to the fore, we dismissed him. And he did not take that well, we had to call the police to escort him from the building. “Since then, well, he then filed an action with the Equal Opportunity Employment Committee in which he made all kinds of complaints” about the staff. Flanigan alleged that the staff had made “racial comments”, Marks said, but “none of them could be corroborated by anyone, we think they were fabricated.” The complaint was dismissed, and although employees continued to occasionally see Flanigan “at the grocery store or something”, interaction was limited and rare, Marks said. He added that Vicki Gardner, the third gunshot victim, has had emergency surgery and is in stable condition.
Well that's something to be thankful for.
All I've learned from threads like these is that discussing guns with americans is like if a lion could speak.
he could have used a bow and arrow too but he didn't use either the car or the bow... I wonder why??
Him having a gun didn't make him a murderous lunatic. Your argument is invalid.
All I've learned from these threads is that discussing guns with americans is like if a lion could speak.
It's not my fault you want to use a tragedy as a springboard to splooge your fearmongering bullshit over a demographic of some 200 million people, while flatly disregarding hard facts.
The shooter isn't dead, just in crit condition.
You want to attack symptoms. I want to deal with the disease. The gun did not make him go shoot those people.
real easy to say you want to deal with the disease when a) that doesn't involve taking away something you like b) it means you get to make vague, unassailable hollow statements like 'we should just blanket improve mental healthcare throughout the entire country!!'
Yes. I own six, and two assault rifles. I've been shooting for over 20 years. I have no intent to harm anyone unless my life is in danger.
Well hopefully after this event they will be illegal and you will have zero.
I think he means the opposite of what you think he means. https://twitter.com/atownbrown08/with_replies
Yeah, looks like a troll. Good bait. I fell for it.
Well hopefully after this event they will be illegal and you will have zero.
Lol. Okay man, whatever you say. :v: There have been far worse events in very recent history and I still have them. Pretty sure the second amendment ain't going anywhere. Just stop with this "ban all guns" bullshit. It won't happen because it can't work.
I posted my response to this on Twitter and it took 7 entire minutes for someone to disregard the topic entirely and assume I was celebrating a black persons death. [t]http://i.imgur.com/rVPgMul.png[/t] Stay classy.
Not everyone's a passive aggressive douche tho. That guy's being a literal fucko
So how long before they stop being stupid and ban guns already?

You think it's OK to have a deadly weapon just because you're supposedly healthy?

Well hopefully after this event they will be illegal and you will have zero.

But he used a gun because it's designed to effectively kill people, which it did and they had no chance.
You do realize people get killed in your country too, right?
This nigga was tryin to ban swords and crossbows in 1600 I bet too
lmao you're out of your mind if think your crossbows will save you when the lord and his knights come to fuck you up. Nobody needs a crossbow, a longbow is just fine for hunting.
Guns are also widely used for sport.
They're weapons, your point is invalid.
just want to say not all americans are dented in the head about guns, it's always just the same 15 obsessives on FP
I'm not obsessed over guns, Infact I own no guns, I just think its stupid for people to actually think that banning guns and gun control are plausible ideas on such a large scale as the US.
They're weapons, your point is invalid.
Knives are weapons, so should we ban them?
It's not my fault you want to use a tragedy as a springboard to splooge your fearmongering bullshit over a demographic of some 200 million people, while flatly disregarding hard facts.
i did that? damn ive been busy
real easy to say you want to deal with the disease when a) that doesn't involve taking away something you like b) it means you get to make vague, unassailable hollow statements like 'we should just blanket improve mental healthcare throughout the entire country!!'

I definitely see a problem with it - even as a beneficiary of it. I was able to buy a 109 year old shotgun with no paperwork and no prior knowledge of firearms. Regardless of my intent for buying it, it could have been dangerous to me, so there's at least two serious red flags with gun show sales. Wait times are silly and haven't been shown to slow or stop crime, they only inconvenience people who are going through the trouble of buying through an FFL. But yes - the paperwork needs to be there. Most gun owners in the US will agree with you - that any measures that could be taken without harming law abiding citizens should be taken. But there haven't been any good solutions proposed, let alone implemented. We still have shit like NFA on the books and that's not helping anything. I think I read somewhere that most violent crimes are actually committed with hunting rifles and shotguns, but handguns are either equal or a close second. Keep in mind though that those handguns are generally $150 Hi-points, not more expensive or collectible guns. I would start by repealing NFA and the '86 machine gun ban (which has criminalized people for owning shoe strings), form a modern firearm classification system and work from there. At the very least, the cutoff for "antique" guns needs to be moved from 1899 to 1959 before we start cracking down on handguns and stuff.
I'm not going to support a blanket measure that results in the destruction of millions of legally owned firearms, including mine. But I will support any measure that makes it more difficulty to use them in a crime. But, you know, disregard facts, spew bullshit, the Euro way.
They're weapons, your point is invalid.
Sport and hunting. Two perfectly mundane uses for them. What next, ban knives?
always find it funny that the same people that say it would be infeasible to ban guns are the same people saying that mental healthcare should have some sort of blanket immediate improvement around the entire country as if thats somehow more achievable
real easy to say you want to deal with the disease when a) that doesn't involve taking away something you like b) it means you get to make vague, unassailable hollow statements like 'we should just blanket improve mental healthcare throughout the entire country!!'
Most Americans - including myself - are not comfortable with being completely defenseless against a corrupt from top-to-bottom state, and criminals. I'm assuming since all current Brits stated hunkered down through the oppression of the time that you guys are all okay with being defenseless and surrending your wives to prima noctis, but not here. Bring me my utopia and then you can have my guns.
Lol. Okay man, whatever you say. :v:
Let me guess, if they where banned you'd happily use them to stop them being taken from you. Seems like everyone who owns guns has a secret agenda.
gun didn't make him go out and murder, but guns are far too easy for deranged psychopaths to acquire. I mean, this only happens regularly in America. in super violent places like Venezuela this kinda crazy shit doesn't happen. like, it's not just the guns that are at fault but to think that the gun culture and killing sprees are not related seems ignorant to me.
