That's the point. Until we find it. "Home to the Coldest Temperatures in our Solar System" until we go explore new planets.
Or dwarf planets or asteroids or the interiors of planets and their moons. :science:
Cool
No. Until we have the means to detect colder temperatures, we can't verify that statement. You're doing it wrong.
We have the means to detect very cold temperatures. We just haven't found any colder than the Moon. You sir, are doing it wrong.
I thought the near-absolute vacuum of space was just a few degrees away from absolute zero.
On a planet/moon I think it means.
Just because we can't prove something, doesn't mean it can't exist.
When did I ever say that a colder place doesn't exist?
I thought the near-absolute vacuum of space was just a few degrees away from absolute zero.
Where there is no matter there can not be temperature. So really the temperature depends on the amount of matter and it's heat capacity. So really it's a variable. [editline]08:53PM[/editline]
When did I ever say that a colder place doesn't exist?
"Until we find something colder, it's the coldest." That's like saying if someone puts a cat in a box and I don't know about it, the cat isn't there until I open the box and find it.
What about craters on pluto?
Oh. Dammit, I was hoping we could finally find something that hit 100% chemical inertness.
I thought the near-absolute vacuum of space was just a few degrees away from absolute zero.
Space isn't a place.
We have the means to detect very cold temperatures. We just haven't found any colder than the Moon. You sir, are doing it wrong.
Learn to read. UNTIL WE HAVE THE MEANS TO DETECT COLDER TEMPERATURES doesn't mean that we can't. It means that we don't have the means to go out to these locations and record temperatures. Meaning that we can't go out to the dark side of an asteroid in the cupiter belt and measure it's temperature because we have nothing out there to do it. WE DON'T HAVE THE MEANS.
Grabe da mace goin on a chase [editline]12:55AM[/editline] oh god double post rhyme this isnt funny without the other post above it
Grabe da mace goin on a chase [editline]12:55AM[/editline] oh god double post rhyme
I broke your automerge.

That's like saying if someone puts a cat in a box and I don't know about it, the cat isn't there until I open the box and find it.
I'm pretty sure astronomers don't doubt that there is some spot in our solar system that is colder. With the given information, it IS the coldest spot.
Ufck [editline]12:57AM[/editline] Fuck*
I'm pretty sure astronomers don't doubt that there is some spot in our solar system that is colder. With the given information, it IS the coldest spot.
No it's not. It's the coldest spot we know of. You're saying it's the coldest because we don't know of anything colder, which is wrong. You can't determine it. It is an unknown. And if I read you right, you just said that there is probably a spot colder. Which basically means that you contradicted yourself. [editline]08:58PM[/editline]
Poor kitty.
Oh sorry I won't reason anymore. Happy? :downs:
yah yah fuck pluto that stupid dog
:pluto:

In-fact, I believe we have a probe that is headed towards Pluto that was launched some years ago.
EVERYONE SHUT THE FUCK UP The point is that the Moon is colder then Pluto, and that's cool
Damn. 'What's cooler than bein' cool?' "THE MOON MOTHER FUCKER."
Take note of what was used. A probe. We indeed have the means to record colder temperatures. In-fact, I believe we have a probe that is headed towards Pluto that was launched some years ago.
Uhh. We don't have the means to record colder temperatures because we have no probe out behind pluto to measure those temperatures. So you're wrong. I'm not saying that we are not technologically capable of recording temperatures lower than the one posted. I'm saying that we don't have something out in space that is in place to record them.
No it's not. It's the coldest spot we know of. You're saying it's the coldest because we don't know of anything colder, which is wrong. You can't determine it.
And if I read you right, you just said that there is probably a spot colder. Which basically means that you contradicted yourself.
There most likely IS a spot colder, but with the given information, it is the coldest.
So I guess humans aren't the most intelligent being on Earth because we've yet to find an animal smarter. There most likely IS a spot colder, but with the given information, it is the coldest.
No it's not the coldest just because we haven't found a colder spot. It's just the coldest we know of. My main point is that your thread title, and the news, and you are wrong in that you can't prove either way. As for your analogy of humans, that's not applicable because if there was a smarter animal then we would surely know of them. Therefore we can disprove that. [editline]09:08PM[/editline]
.
No.
there COULD feasibly some portion of Pluto that has the same situation as this crater, but as far as we know, there isn't. so quit arguing.
As for your analogy of humans, that's not applicable because if there was a smarter animal then we would surely know of them. Therefore we can disprove that.
Who's to say. If we're still discovering species of animal, which would have a lower intelligence than us, why would a higher intelligent being be anymore easy to find? Done fighting, you're not worth the time.

[editline]09:08PM[/editline] No.
Yes. this isn't about your guys' argument about the coldest place in the universe
Who's to say. If we're still discovering species of animal, which would have a lower intelligence than us, why would a higher intelligent being be anymore easy to find?
Because if you look at our species, we've made quite a significant mark on the planet. And a MORE intelligent species would have made an even bigger mark.
there COULD feasibly some portion of Pluto that has the same situation as this crater, but as far as we know, there isn't. so quit arguing.
Thanks bro
