frankly(and unfortunately), votes don't matter unless they sway the electoral college. although you can't claim overwhelming support, you can claim a landslide since the counted votes gave him a 24% spread and the fact obama won every state that mattered in the election.

its funny how people were saying Obama got 100% of the votes / had a 90% spread
Who on Earth has said that?
I never understood the point of the electorial colleges.
If the final say in who wins lays with those, what does it matter if the average joe votes?
I'm Swedish so I don't know very much about how the system works across the pond.
isn't white no longer a majority anyways?
White Americans were the majority in 2010, so I'd assume they still are. IIRC, the majority of births in the US are now non-white, but those aren't voters.

It was in response to raidyr's post so context is important here

The first was simply because trying to gather and tally votes from a new nation spread out across a massive body of land was hard. It was easier to have people vote locally, and then they'd send out a representative who would report who had won amongst their constituents. The other was because it was felt that overall it should be the states who should elect the president, not the people themselves. The first part is understandable and even makes sense when you consider the time it was implemented and the conditions around it, but it is entirely unnecessary in this day and age. The second part was just stupid.
It's so good to see Blake Lively getting off his butt especially after the election.
Maybe you need a campaign with actual policies and not just 'hi i'm not obama vote for me please'.

santorum would be funner to talk to tbh
santorum would be funner to talk to tbh
I don't think I could stand to be around him for very long without clawing my own ears out. And with Romney, I couldn't imagine it being a very interesting conversation. I'd probably be better off talking to Cleverbot, since at least it sounds vaguely human sometimes.
i think romney would be really interesting to hold a conversation with. considering he used to have pretty liberal views and then all of a sudden switched around, did some shady corporate deals, ran for president as the world's finest flip flopper conservative.
santorum would be boring to have a conversation with because he's just a lucky idiot.
plus i fucking love honey nut cheerios
I honestly half expected him to talk about organising more rallies and thinking the election hasn't ended.
"We are going to establish a rally in Indianapolis on Thursday, then going down to Cincinnati on next Mo-
"Mr. Romney, the election's over."
"What?"
"You lost."
"Like I said, we're going to rally at Ohio next Monday. I believe we can finally get more people on our side."
I wonder if he is still pissed off about losing the election.

Phil's BBQ is so damn good.
I never get why people care about what failed nominees or ex politicians say especially considering that iirc Romney isn't a/governor anymore, either
So really this article is just 'old white rich guy can still talk'

Insight into why the campaign was run a certain way, how people inside the campaign reacted when x happened
IMO, he lost on purpose. He looked scared out of his mind whenever he spoke about him being the next president. And "alienating black and latino workers really hurt my campaign", is as obvious as a mistake as you can get, almost like they knew they were making it whilst campaigning. I mean c'mon.

When you think about it it's genial
I'm surprised he didn't announce the launch of his 2016 campaign. He's been running for president his entire life, why stop now?
