Lord Howe, NSW (island far off coast) is being evacuated after JATWC announced a land thread from a possible tsunami.
I ask how are they supposed to evacuate? THEY ARE A FEW HUNDRED KILOMETRES OF THE COAST OF AUSTRALIA!
Planes/helicopters and boats maybe?

A small tsunami of 0.17m was recorded at Jackson Bay. Based on that information the potential threat warning is now lifted.
No further tsunami threat exists for New Zealand coastlines as a result of the 7.8 earthquake that occurred near Tuatapere today at 2123 NZST.

The warning has now been cancelled, but there was and abnormal tide here and it was really high, but it didn't last long!
