I expect a fallout game where Ill find a big world with plenty of locations to explore, a variety of enemies to fight, less-than-top-notch graphics, shoddy animations, bad-to-alright writing, decent gameplay, and lots of bugs and glitches.
And Im going to enjoy playing it a lot

No clue why anyone expected any better. That's how Bethesda's games have been for a full decade, people's expectations got so ridiculously lofty, nothing they did would satisfy them.
The moment I hear about a special edition I'll buy it.
The special editions had the coolest stuff in them.

I wish I got those playing cards...
I think you're an idiot if you suggest they aren't putting work into this. In the trailer, there are no reused assets. They reimagined and redesigned literally every object in the game. Even super simple shit like bridges gained a space age touch with rocket fin looking support structures.
I really don't understand these complaints about the "theme park" aesthetic. That was always in Fallout to some extent. It's inspired by the 50s' silly vision of the future - it's just more present now, and I think that's a good thing, because they clearly put a lot of work into the aesthetic. It means attention to detail, and that means, even if the graphics are outdated, that the game itself will have heart.
And on the engine; as much as I hate Bethbryo it's kind of charmingly awful at times with the goofy physics and silly glitches. If they buckle down and fix the save corrupting bugs I think it'll be fine. It is, at least, very easy to mod.
But in the first two games it really wasn't like that. The vaults were like that, a lot of the old world background stuff was like that, Vault City is kinda like that, if only as an extension of how they're politically and culturally continuous from a vault, but take a walk around The Den, The Hub, Arroyo, or any of the small towns that were out there on the map and there's nothing really 'Classics 50s Retro-Futuristic' about them.
I dont understand what people have against bethesda engines .. i played so much oblivion, fallout 3 , fallout new vegas, skyrim etc and 90% of what made those games so replayable were because of the engine.. or more specifically how customizable it is.. i dont know any rpg that has close to as many mods and the variety that bethesda games offer. someone mentioned witcher 3 and it looks great , but does it have close ot the amount of variety of mods that bethesda games do ?? there is so many you can do with those games.. as for me i dont care if fallout 4 doesnt look great , as long as it has really good writing , open world and good mod support

Yeah Witcher 3 has a full modding kit and unlike Creation kit it actually works most of the time you use it.
And the Creation Engine (okay it's Gamebyro) is just not too much fun to play on.
And Bethesda is writing it, so everything points at it really not having good writing.
whoever dumbed me.. dont do it again

i see i looked at the nexus and all i see are crappy weight limit mods and other things that barely affect gameplay.. yea its early since release but i remember skyrim already had some great mods in the beginning .. but yea maybe im wrong i just dont think ANY games even come close to the variety of mods that bethesda games release , thats why i really like their engine

Because they blew a wad of cash on computer-gear and a good story line isn't going to validate that purchase.

gamer entitlement you say?
Am I the only one who's wondering why the fuck everyone's so upset that Bethesda finally revealed a new Fallout?
Like, hell, we've been waiting for this for nine years. And now we're all upset because... Why? Why are we upset? Because it doesn't match the hype we had for it?
It's not something you can control. Play it or don't, but don't spend time pouring out your negativity where people don't want to hear it.
EDIT: I mean, here's what I think. We all know how Bethesda games play out. The writing's mediocre, the graphics are bland, and we're all going to play it excessively. If you don't like Bethesda's games, why are you complaining about this one? Just... don't buy it. Don't play it. Stop caring.
I'm guessing it's the same mentality which makes all your friends shit on the new Arcade Fire single. Being excited about a video-game with flaws means you might be the mythical n00b, like thinking the doggie looks cool it's a laughable statement because "lol haven't u seen the dogs in GTAV? you nooblette," and now everyone is competing with performative statements for who is the least n00b and least impressed by a video-game.
Guys look at the first few seconds of the trailer and note the lighting on the walls of the interiors before you judge the overall quality of the graphics.
I think that's real-time radiosity.
Who fucking cares about the graphics if the gameplay is shit. And it seems that the better the graphics, the less quality the game has because they just have so much work to do and fucking deadlines and people demand pay and you get paid when the game sells and all that bullshit, so they cut corners and leave out a bunch of cool stuff because little boys and girls want better graphics.
ok
but what forefronts have they been at in the past decade exactly?
Fun games that are worth the money asked for them.

I like Arcade Fire too. Maybe there's a connection.

There are several teams at Bethesda, comprised of dozens of people each. Graphics do not affect gameplay. You can't just take people from the gameplay team and shuffle them over to the graphics department, that's not how game development works.
I'm so excited for this already. But:
A. It's sad that we got this faster than HL3
B. It really looks like they're running on the Creation engine, which is a disappointment. The animations look stiff and wooden and the shaders look dated.
Regardless I'll play the living shit out of this game. I have over 500 hours between both Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

The best I can determine is people are desperate to have every game on the market justify the credit card debt their GPU put them in even if that means the game is worse off for it. I'm quite happy they're not focusing on graphics, Fallout has never been a series about graphics anyway and it means they've got more of their dev cycle freed up to make the game good.

I honestly find the dog in this trailer to be a better rendition of Fido than the ones in V were. V's animals in general were very stiffly animated and looked more like those DARPA robots than actual critters.
There are several teams at Bethesda, comprised of hundreds of people each.
As much as I agree with the other thing you said, this really isn't true. The largest team Bethesda has ever had was Skyrim's 90 something.

And yet studios always end up with a duller, more mediocre game when the focus is on graphics. Gee, I wonder why they couldn't pull a miracle out of their ass in three years...

You'll have to forgive me, then. I assumed they were working with more manpower.
That said, it's still individual teams made of specialists. I'll fix it.
Can someone point out how apparently Fallout 4 is graphically similar to Fallout 3/New Vegas?

Agreed, out of all the special editions I've bought in the past. Fallout seems to have the best ones.

I don't know but two isolated images of random things isn't a great way to gauge graphical similarity.

They're both buses though, and he's proving they're not graphically similar.

So... What's your explanation, then? Do you have a reasonable idea of why having the graphics team make better graphics would affect the independent gameplay or lore teams?
And if you say "budgets," know that the Bethesda people are salaried.
I don't know but two isolated images of random things isn't a great way to gauge graphical similarity.
Well we are talking about graphics, what we are looking at is a prop in all games.
I'm pretty sure the one on the left doesn't look like complete shit like the one on the right.
I'm not saying fallout 4 is the most amazing thing since sliced bread. I'm just saying I'm pretty sure its not Fallout 3/New Vegas quality.
I don't understand how the graphics not looking as good as they could matters as long as the art direction's in the right place. The graphics won't make or break the game, if you think it would have been a better game 5 years ago or it won't be as good 5 years down the line because of how graphics age then you're stupid. As long as it's not ass ugly then it won't impair your enjoyment.
I agree, I prefer good art direction over making the textures slightly less pixely by adding more pixels :v:.
Even if terms of content, I don't care how the main questline for Fallout 4 is, Fallout 3 was fun just for exploring a desolate wasteland.
Skyrim's main Questline was meh, but my favorite questlines were stuff like the Thieves guild and the Dark Brotherhood, quests and questlines with interesting stories of their own.
Honestly sometimes I feel like we're all just sitting at our desks with microscopes in hand to nitpick the shit out of some small detail or two.
