Rockstar: "future updates may not be possible on last generation hardware"
Then don't play an updated GTA V. It's about that simple.
What's up with these dumb responses? He is justified in feeling left out, buying a game and learning you will be missing out on content because of your platform choice is disheartening. In this case though its understandable.

It might not seem like it but the ps3 and 360 are outdated as hell, and have been for some time.
While I believe a 300$ pc could be decent, that is not.
Considering my old Core 2 Duo E8400 system works just fine for simple tasks, such as Facebook, YouTube, text editing, etc. etc., I fail to see why a faster processor coupled with twice the PM would have any problems? You won't be able to find a better-performing CPU for the price than that. (Apart from the G3220, but then you'll have to spend 20 dollars extra on a 100% compatible motherboard)
Sure, Pentiums used to pretty much be two Pentium 4's duct-taped together, but that's not the case anymore. They're excellent for low-demanding tasks.
And you may look at AMD's ~quad core~ A6 processors, but the Pentium actually out-performs them, while at the same time drawing less power. The only budget CPU's AMD have that are able to beat the Pentium are the ones in the A8 and the A10 series, but then you're in the 80-100 dollar price range, and at that point you'll just get a 100 dollar i3 that completely obliterates everything below it
As sad as it is to say it, Intel pretty much has a complete monopoly of the CPU market right now
No. People like me who were only able to scrounge up enough to upgrade from PS2 to PS3 10 months or so ago would have been unable to buy it.
Shit nigga have you upgraded your rotary dialing phone to one with buttons yet?
Nope, I'd just be more pissed off about the wait 'till PC.
Because there's more important shit in life?
"YOU HAD A WHOLE WINTER BREAK TO GET THIS PROJECT DONE, WHY DIDN'T YOU?"
"My dad died and we had to arrange a funeral."
Like, differing situations, obviously, but that's a really dumb statement. What if someone wanted to go to college or something? That's probably more worth saving up for than a console that has a minimal amount of games anyone cares about as of right now.
Gaming is obviously the wrong hobby for you if you can't afford to buy a new console that allows you to play games for the next 8 years.

I never implied that. If you can't afford to spend $400 every 8 years, maybe gaming is the wrong hobby for you. Maybe going out and throwing a ball might cater to your dire financial situations a bit more.

Like for real implying hobbies can be wrong, especially gaming, where you could buy a fucking cheap PC and have every game from before 2004 run just fine lol

So you're saying that because not everybody has the money or the priority to buy a next-gen as soon as it comes out, that they should not be allowed to be gamers?
lol you've never paid a fuckin' bill in your life
Pc and Console are about equal in price.
I got sleeping dogs for 10 bucks off steam. It waa 60 dollars on console. When you consider all of the games I buy at extreme discounts on steam, I'm saving a lot with pc.

I buy games used, or during PSN sales.
The prices are close to what I get on Steam.
The only PS3 games I got full price are Portal 2 and Wolfenstein: The New Order.

Get fucking over yourself, lad. Not everyone is born into money.
I sometimes wonder that.
I just built a newer gaming PC for about the cost of an XBone.
I suppose some people like having less maintenance, about the only bonus about consoles IMO.
No virus scanning, defragging, etc.
I bought a console so I could game from my couch more comfortably. Yes I know Steam BPM exists, I use it, but it's not perfect yet and some games can be a little awkward
Pretty clear from this and past slip ups that they got paid massively to 1) release on the last gen, and 2) keep the wraps on the release of the next gen versions as well as the PC one.
Basically got paid to release an unfinished game on old hardware before Xmas to sell the consoles

That kind of seems the case. GTA 5 on PS3 has a sub 30 framerate constantly, its virtually never at 30 when you are doing anything besides standing still.

If all you're wanting to do is play games before 2004, then you're not exactly the target demographic for GTAV now, are you?

Wrong. Also, if you can't afford a next generation console, you shouldn't be playing next generation games. Expecting a game released in 2014/2015 to be held back because of your financial situation is bullshit.
I'm still a bit heartbroken because GTA5 for the 360 was the first thing I ever queued up at midnight for, and it was the first full-price game I bought for a while before that, and the only one since. I brought it home, plopped it into my (very old) xbox and played for 15 minutes before it crashed. It was complete chance, sometimes I could play for hours before it crashed, sometimes only a few minutes. I actually managed to do the first few Trevor missions before I gave up on it. I didn't get a refund because I assumed that it was something they'd release patches for, but apparently it was the hardware and all Rockstar could do was say "sorry".
It was just a bit shit that I played on console so that I don't have to worry about my machine being too old to run a new title, and towards the end of the current-gen life cycle there were games that were fucking up on older systems.

How naive you are, hurts my brain.
You can literally budget a computer that will last twice as long as any console. And cost the same if not a tiny fraction more.
It will last longer, you have infinite more possiblities with it.
Next Gen also comes to PC. GTA V is going to be the same on PC as it is for One and PS4.
So not sure what your point is.

Not true. Go try playing Sleeping Dogs or Hitman Absolution on a high-end gaming PC from 2005. I don't think people remember what 2005 was actually like.
My point is, at some level, 10 year old hardware held back a game released last year and people keep justifying cross generation releases in 2015 because "you don't know what people's financial situations are".

Actually I played Hitman: Absolution on a 2.8ghz AMD Phenom II and a 1GB ATI Radeon HD 3790 with 2gb ram, ran perfectly fine.
INFACT hell. I remember playing Crysis 1 on a 3ghz Pentium 4, 2gb ram and a ATI 9600. Once again ran fine...ish till I got towards the end of the game.
You don't know what peoples Finacial situations are. Why would you release a game that has ABSURD recommendations hardware wise. And cut out a MASSIVE portion of potential gamers whom can't afford that?
When you can accomadate it towards multiple platforms and levels of tech and get an even bigger user base.
Your justification seems to be. "If you can't afford to buy super high tech hardware you shouldn't game"
The more you speak. The more I feel like you've grown up in a rich household and not had to actually struggle or pay any real bills in your life. That or you simply cannot grasp the value of money and differences between people and how their money worrys are.

The Phenom II was a line from like 2008/2009. The reason why I argue that GTAV should have been released as a next generation exclusive is because the game ran terribly and the hardware's age was showing unlike anything else released on the platform. If there's any game out there that is capable of getting people to upgrade their hardware on launch day, it was GTAV. Even if it didn't sell as well in the first month, people who eventually are going to get next generation hardware would pick up GTAV because "I never got a chance to play that and it's fucking Grand Theft Auto"
Even Red Dead Redemption/Max Payne 3 struggled to run on the PS3/360 so I don't know why they'd release something even more technically demanding on such archaic hardware three years later.
I've never had problems running RDR or GTA V on my PS3. Never played Max Payne 3 on PS3 as I grabbed it on PC.
Either way. I'm done with this argument.

that doesn't even make any sense AT ALL
how could EITHER become that?
[editline]21st December 2014[/editline]
unless you're one of those people that actually believe phones and tablets will "Rule gaming" (which is the biggest load of bullshit anyones ever said)
but it's probably 99% likely just a miswording

Or you know, they released it on last gen because there are a shitton of those systems out there. They wouldn't have sold even half the copies they have now if they only released on current gen.
[editline]21st December 2014[/editline]
And a lot of early PS4/XBone adopters probably even ended up buying it twice.

GTAV dips down to 20-15FPS all the time. Max Payne has insane loading times and low frame rates and RDR suffers from the same issues and that's at 1280x720.

Arguably, GTA V would have been the push people needed to get onto the next generation of consoles and other developers would have followed their lead. Instead, we're having AAA releases in 2015 coming to consoles released in 2005.
honestly though, outside of money, if xbone could run xbox 360 games, the 360 truly would be pointless to even own, there would be no excuse
I wish this were the case, because it was outdated to hell even before we know about the xbone
at that point buying it is like buying a SNES, or ps2, or atari. Just for the collection and novelty.
I'm actually kind of surprised it isn't backwards compatible. I'm guessing it's hardware?

I really feel like next gen isn't next gen with consoles either
look at how shit consoles run with their major titled games right now. We haven't optimized nearly enough. Most major titles are currently a complete joke. There isn't any thing that major.
[editline]21st December 2014[/editline]
You spend far less in the long run with a PC so you end up saving money, plus you can't really compare a console to a PC when a PC does so much more.
lets not forget that around the same time a 800-1000$ pc becomes outdated, a console will have become vastly even more outdated, and already would have been less powerful from day one.
