That sweet 100%
My horrifying theory: "These Write-Ins are fabricated! Gotta just discard all of them and then do a recount where we juuuuuust tip the votes a little by declaring a vote here or there invalid. Boy, it sure is a shame we don't have any digital records either! Welp!" Just knocking out the write-ins brings things from +21331 Jones to -1466 Jones.
More like 20k [editline]13th December 2017[/editline] I don't go there for my own mental health so someone will have to describe what is going on.
Here you are; fresh off the presses. [thumb]https://imgur.com/YHU5weE.png[/thumb]
Im curious about how many disenchanted republicans voted dem as a lesser of two evils
I see more than half a percent separating them there. No automatic recount for him!
isn't that after the write-ins? i am very leery of celebrating too early -- it's entirely plausible for the alabama repubs to start working overtime with other people's signatures

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. I’m worried though that the Democrats will take this as gospel that the only thing they have to do to win is not be the other guy.
looks like alabama might turn blue in the future.
It just turned blue tonight.
It just turned blue tonight.
Well, there are 2 Senate seats in every state. Who's the other guy and what do we need to do to get rid of him?
This shit really brought the lingering racism the republican party still has bubbling pretty close to the surface They couldn't be more obvious with how upset they are about the black vote, they couldn't be more obvious about how much they tried to suppress or didn't want black people voting, without going full "We must prevent the Nigger from influencing american politics"
It just turned blue tonight.
There's still one GOP senator and the state legislature is heavily GOP leaning. This is a pretty big upset but Alabama isn't even close to being a blue state.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. I’m worried though that the Democrats will take this as gospel that the only thing they have to do to win is not be the other guy.
They already tried that in 2016, didn't pan out.
You know, despite Doug Jones's victory, I still think that Roy Moore got too many votes. In all seriousness though, a big thanks to those who voted Doug in.
Well, there are 2 Senate seats in every state. Who's the other guy and what do we need to do to get rid of him?
Richard Shelby. Apparently he didn't even vote for Moore, he wrote in a vote lol.

I feel like the results of this poll is proof that a decent amount of young voters took the lesson we learned in 2016 to heart. Maybe every generation needs a big upset or event to encourage a majority participation in the voting process. Fuck yes Alabama.
I'm still in complete disbelief my state didn't fuck everything up, it's such a relief.

The write-ins didn't go to either candidate. Removing the write-ins would still have Jones be +21331.
SNIP NEVERMIND I'M DUMB To contribute though, even if Jones won (which is good), there's still the fact that almost 50% voted for a pedophile. It's kind of a bitterseet victory: It's a sign that there's still hope, and a sign of good things to come, but it's also a battle that shouldn't have even been fought in the first place, let alone been this close.
Just tuned in, did Dougie Not-Demuro win? It's good that the old racist kiddie fucker is out of the picture.
How does that make any sense? The write-ins didn't go to either candidate. Removing the write-ins would still have Jones be +21331.
Ah, it's late. I mixed 'write ins' with whatever it is when you have to submit a replacement ballot vote rather than being able to vote at a machine.
Of the voters in this election, only 25% were under 40 years old. I don't know..
Now imagine if more of them came out to vote, this could have easily been a landslide victory rather than a by the skin of our teeth victory.
I like how Fox has unintentionally called those who voted for Moore "Babies".
Great job, Alabamans, and congrats to all Americans for not electing the racist pedo into the Senate
