How are my state reps getting paid to fuck with it then? I don't fully understand it.
[editline]13th December 2017[/editline]
I was told around ~4 of my state reps were paid amounts ranging $10k-28k to vote in favor of repeal or something, including Todd Young, but if they don't actually have any voting power at the moment, what is this for? Insurance? I thought it could go to the senate
It’s mainly to encourage them to introduce bills of their own and have them signed into law as a secondary defense rather than to fight the decision of the FCC
Also Moore isn't the first pedophile that the GOP has supported, if you count Dennis Hastert.
That only came out 8 years after he left Congress though?
oh my fucking god that is the dumbest thing I've ever seen.
Obama was largely responsible for the drone strikes on ISIS' warehouses full of treasure to pay their fighters with. Literally the opposite is true oh my god I'm done
Their mindset is literally
brown foreigner / foreign-sounding name = ISIS

So the gop is going to try to pass their tax ripoff bill before jones can be sworn in which is probably now among the sleeziest things that mconnel has done, still not quite scotus seat bullshit levels but close

Yeh, he called for a recount.
Or well, it seems he's relying on military ballots and write-ins to bring him within .5% of doug jones, in which a recount would automatically happen. He can call for one himself but he'd have to pay for it.
Moore still hasn't conceded? I mean I'd be pretty butthurt too if I was the reason a 20+ year streak of red victories was finally broken.
Let this be a warning to the GOP that they can't prop up a cretin piece of shit and expect a victory.

It's even funnier because Trump is congratulating Jones now, sealing the deal basically

time to pack up bitch, ya lost

Imagine being the reason that the reddest state in the union turned blue. Dude must be humiliated.
No sympathy for him, of course. He must be burning up right now. It's great.

Man imagine being racist, homophobic or sexist, like imagine hating people for literally no reason and arbitrarily want to make their lives harder.
His career and legacy is basically over since he lost and the private sector ain't gonna touch him, any protection he might of had from the GOP is now gone.
So yeah, dude is gonna hold out. But it seems like everyone (including trump and the GOP) is just eager to move on without him lol

Well the reason is to fit in with others. It always starts as a few crazies, but human beings are attracted to being a part of a group of others. Much like cults specifically prey on the weak willed and vulnerable, things like neo-nazis prey on the stupid and hateful.
[editline]13th December 2017[/editline]
Either way, they're despicable people.

As disappointing as it was that we never got to see what happened if Donald Trump refused to concede a lost election, at least we can vicariously get some belated laughs through this.

I really doubt it's going to happen, but sadly I can imagine that Donald might contemplate cancelling or at least delaying the 2020 election by eg claiming that too many 'illegals' would otherwise vote in it.
he's still not conceding

So basically he's waiting on the military and provisional ballots to come in since idk he thinks that they all voted for him i guess. Apparently that happens on the 7th day after the election, so guess we've gotta put up with his bitching for at least a little while longer lol.
Jeez, give up Moore. Or don't, so you can embarrass yourself even more.
(fyi, voted Moore on this poll because I had almost 0 faith in Alabama voting for Jones, and if I lived in Alabama, I would vote for Jones)

Christ, he's a living caricature of the GOP. So delusional.
The stubborn cunt won't accept that he lost fair and square.
Christ.
It's better than that, he lost with serious voter suppression and dick moves on his side.
My worry is that he's waiting for a surprise upset victory from military and provisional votes not because he expects them to vote for him, but because he expects the numbers to swing well in his favor regardless of how people actually voted.
Moore only lost by a margin of 21,000 votes. Could military and provisional votes, even if they all went to him, swing the election? I'm not sure of the numbers there, and this election was exceedingly close. I'm a little sad largely because while this is a huge turn of events with a traditionally conservative stronghold flipping to voting for a democrat, the margins are so tight that a solid 50% of the voting populace in Alabama supported Moore. That suggests that no matter who won, Alabama is more or less still undecided who it would like as a representative. This is a victory for the democrats in Alabama, but a pyrrhic victory at that, and while I'm glad that Jones won, I'm sure that he's going to have a tough road ahead of him.

I don't think we have any way of knowing how many provisional ballots there are right now, but there are only 8,700 Alabamans serving in the military so even if they all voted for him it still wouldn't be close enough for a recount. Alabama's Secretary of State says it's highly unlikely the result will change

8,700 votes would be more than enough to tip the scale just ever so slightly past the 0.5% automatic recount trigger - Jones only won by about 0.6%.
With Alabama's courts saying it's A-OK to delete vote records, there's still a potential chance that Moore could use provisional/military votes to eke out the most bullshit victory of all time through a massive display of voter fraud. Force a recount, oops some of the votes were deleted, whoa look, Moore wins.
Very unlikely, but with how wildly corrupt the GOP is, it's still a potential reality.

0.6%? He won by 1.5% as far as I know
edit: did you mean 0.6% is what he'd be left with after these extra votes?
My grandfather worked as the main technician on the voting machines in this county before he retired. On at least one occasion he found where the machines had been tampered with to a degree that altered the outcome of a county election. So yeah, actual election rigging isn't unheard of here, even in recent memory.
he's still not conceding

My god the bullshit he's spewing. He does have a couple points, though, some things that are undeniable.
* He claims that Washington is infested with corrupt and out-of-touch politicians. This is very much true. What he doesn't want to admit is that he would +1 the corruption.
* He mentions that we've started drifting away from religion. This, also true, more and more Americans are losing their faith. And that's fine. He needs to stop thumping his bible long enough to look over the Constitution, he'd quickly find that we are not a theocracy and that the US Government, officially, has no religion. Furthermore, he'd find out that religious freedom, that is, the sovereign right of every citizen to pray to whatever the fuck they want to...including nothing at all...is literally right there.
* He is right about materialism, and it's a HUGE gripe of mine about society in general, but that hasn't replaced the American Dream. What has done so? Crippling debt, horrible prospects for improvement, awful healthcare, and corrupt shitlords like Judge Roy Moore in government.
Other things that I wanna touch on:
* He singled out sodomy as a bad thing, antithetical to the American Dream. What if the pursuit of happiness includes a lot of buttfucking, hrm?! Wouldn't happiness for two gay men be, ya know, bonin' each other senseless in a loving marriage just like it is for hetero couples? LAst I checked...and being a man myself I'm pretty sure I can just look in my own pants to do so...we aren't designed with a natural receptacle like women are, so we have to make do with what we do have.
* He mentions murdering 60,000,000 unborn children. This is patently false, the vast majority of those embryos were not sufficiently developed to qualify as a child at the time of being aborted, but goes along with the typical anti-abortion rhetoric so I shouldn't be surprised he said it.
* He lamented the expansion of gay rights as an affront to the family. Bullshit. Go find any homeless orphan, two loving gay folk, make the three become one household, and I guaran-fucking-tee you that kid will be on cloud nine for the rest of their childhood. What makes a good family good is not the gender of the people in it, but the way it functions, the love exchanged between the two parents, between the parents and child, and back again. And that is gender agnostic, hell, it could happen between two people who through some freak of nature ended up not having a gender at all!
* He touched on the upcoming trans rights movement. He did so with derision in his tone, like it was a bad thing. It's not. It's a good thing. People deserve to be happy in their bodies. I do wish they'd be a bit less touchy about pronouns(If you look like a man people will use masculine ones, and vice versa, that's just how it works they're not gonna telepathically know you're trans), but I think it's good that they're finally getting recognized as what they are, that they're finally starting to gain access to the legal and medical services they need to be what they truly are.
What we have here is an excellent, hi-def, video showing what a bold-faced lie looks like.
What's really funny? He disabled comments on the video. He knew damn well he was spewing horseshit and, predictably, muted the primary way people would respond to this garbage.
He may have disabled comments, but I'm glad he didn't disable ratings.

Fucking hell, the little rant of his just oozes with moral superiority, going on about sodomites and trans people, reminds me of Rick Perry.

You're referring to the man that was removed from his seat for refusing to take down a monument of the Ten Commandments. Religious equality is a foreign concept to people who are this adamant in their beliefs.
