Texas has a pretty strong case too [t]https://media.npr.org/assets/img/2017/03/11/texas-35-25810048abae74e2926130ee177bb5dfd1859e54-s900-c85.png[/t] It gets really ridiculous when you zoom in on places like San Marcos. They picked out specific streets to make sure they got all the places where students live and none of the older neighborhoods.
It's no secret that Texas is set up in a way to where Republicans will always win. Especially when most major cities lean liberal yet republicans are always the ones that are voted in. The middle of nowhere parts of Texas have more say in our politics then most of our population living in cities because of gerrymandering
On the bright side, I think trump's response about franken compared to moore may be the final nail in the coffin in regards to if trump's not impeached and runs for reelection.
On the bright side, I think trump's response about franken compared to moore may be the final nail in the coffin in regards to if trump's not impeached and runs for reelection.
We've been hammering in so many "final nails" into this coffin that at this point the coffin is more nail than wood.
We've been hammering in so many "final nails" into this coffin that at this point the coffin is more nail than wood.
I feel like the only true nail in this coffin is when the ideology dies out, which is a generational thing it looks like. If that is the case, then we have many more years to go before that happens... Akin to waiting for everyone from the 1950s to die out before racist policies stop being proposed.
I think they're starting to call everyone in the state to make sure they vote for Moore. We just got one that was a recording of Trump telling us to vote for him.
I think they're starting to call everyone in the state to make sure they vote for Moore. We just got one that was a recording of Trump telling us to vote for him.
if Trump had taken no active role in promoting Moore for this election, then yeah I could see Jones possibly winning, but the fact they've got recorded calls of Trump's adamant approval being sent to everyone in Alabama pretty much seals the deal here lol. also god i could've just renamed the poll options "i am an optimist" and "I am a pessimist" and the votes would still be the same. I'm amazed we still have so many people being this optimistic about an American election tho.
Well, between Trump holding a rally in Pensacola, which shares a media market with Alabama, where he overtly said "vote for Moore", and this robocall of Trump's voice encouraging people to vote for Moore, Trump is officially campaigning for Moore. Win or lose, this is now a thing the President has done - campaigned for a Republican Senate candidate who is openly racist, believes God has precedence over the Constitution, was removed from his seat as a state supreme court judge over said belief, was removed a second time for refusing to recognize federal authority (the SCOTUS ruling on gay marriage), believes homosexuality should be criminalized, wants to be on the judiciary committee and pick Supreme Court judges to weed out everyone insufficiently hard-conservative, and very likely spent the 70s and 80s trying to get into teen girls' pants as a 30s/40s DA. That's not something you get to take back when it starts becoming inconvenient to your PR, Mr. President. I want to be hopeful but I expect Moore's going to win. This nightmare is softened a bit by the fact that if Moore is sent to the Senate, the Republicans are turbo-fucked because he's going to be a rope around their necks through the 2018 midterms and into 2020. If he gets elected, I expect Senator Roy Moore will be a huge clusterfuck for establishment Republicans the whole damn way from now to the 2020 polls, assuming America is still holding democratic elections by then. He could help tear apart the party, even.
Ouch, kinda crazy to see how tied the vote here on FP is. Honest to goodness, in what way could Jones win? I doubt there's enough young voters in Alabama willing to go out tomorrow, considering that some of them probably have school/jobs and don't want to risk getting dropped/fired.

The polling(which I know you don't trust) shows a narrow race. Not a landslide race. We'll see when we get there but I hope Jones wins by some event.

And don't get me wrong, I want Jones to win. It'd be a hilarious kick in Trump's ego and give another bulwark against the tax bill.

When is voting and when will the results be known, in terms of hours from now? Hard to tell from here in Australia
I think Moore winning would be a travesty, but I voted for him in this poll because I assume Alabama is crazy enough to vote for him.
When is voting and when will the results be known, in terms of hours from now? Hard to tell from here in Australia
Voting is tomorrow, and we should have results likely within 24-48 hours of now, barring any ridiculous occurrences.
Moore is going to win, unfortunately. Even being a sexual predator won't sway hardline Republican voters. But man, imagine the shitshow if Jones won. God that'd be satisfying. Almost Trump-levels of a win.
The vote isn't who you want to win, it's who do you think WILL win
That’s exactly why I’m saying what I’m saying [editline]11th December 2017[/editline]
When is voting and when will the results be known, in terms of hours from now?
Can the rest of you just kick all the Bible belt states out of the union? They can form their own country, and the rest of America embracing progress won't have them holding it back anymore.
I agree with you that the state/regional differences are increasingly greater, but I will say as a resident of South Carolina that there are places in those states that are more sane (i.e. Huntsville for AL, Charleston or Greenville for SC, etc.) that would utterly suffer under that idea. I find it far more likely that people are gonna get dragged kicking and screaming into one of two possible futures from now: 1. Democrats manage to finally get their act together enough to totally flip Congress and impeach Trump, and snowball off that to begin fixing this mess. 2. Everything continues to get fucked, and we devolve into a dark dystopian future in the United States.
I dunno that one fox news poll in favor of Jones is a pretty big deal, their polling is generally pretty good.
it's likely a strategy, and a good one at that. many conservative republicans watch Fox News religiously, and if they see that the polls on Fox News indicate Jones is going to win, they're more likely to get out there and vote against him come the real polling times..sadly.

Roy Moore went to a brothel with under age girls in Vietnam.

Imagine not being surrounded by a sea of idiots and actually having a hope in hell of electing a state governor who didn't have morally abhorrent, anti-Democratic views. Really, what I'm proposing is a way to make the cultural values of both Americas more uniform, so that each country could go its own way, and most federal elections wouldn't be a choice between a slimy crook and a literal cartoon villain. That being said, I'm aware it isn't that simple and could potentially cause more bureaucratic issues than it would solve.
Gerrymandering needs to be a federal crime and run off voting should simply be the universal standard Eliminating the 2 party system would also be great but with the media sucking eachother off that'll never happen
it's likely a strategy, and a good one at that. many conservative republicans watch Fox News religiously, and if they see that the polls on Fox News indicate Jones is going to win, they're more likely to get out there and vote against him come the real polling times..sadly.
except Fox uses a totally independent pollster. they've got an A ranking on 538 as i recall
except Fox uses a totally independent pollster. they've got an A ranking on 538 as i recall
Yeah, Fox News' polling has always been good. Rasmussen is a little dodgy, but despite a presumed right bias, they are normally spot-on too. Put it this way: It serves both the left and right equally to have accurate opinion polling.
