While Microsoft opted for daisies in Windows 8 and an aurora in Windows Vista, the default Windows 10 wallpaper uses a Windows logo just like Windows 7 did. It's not just any old logo, either. Microsoft travelled to a San Francisco studio to build two installations to create the Windows logo out of light. The software company used camera mapping techniques, lasers, and projectors to create the new hero image that will be used on millions of PCs that ship with Windows 10. The result is a dark and misty logo with light that beams out and around the edges of the famous Windows logo. It matches the dark theme of Windows 10 well.
http://www.theverge.com/2015/6/25/8845379/windows-10-desktop-wallpaper
looks fucking sick but i wish it could be animated
looks fucking sick but i wish it could be animated
Does Windows even natively support animated backgrounds?
would have been 1000x easier to make in c4d / ae but then their target market wouldnt see the perceived value of some designer doing his things
I wish I could have animated backgrounds without killing my memory :(
Does Windows even natively support animated backgrounds?
Dreamscenes son.
Does Windows even natively support animated backgrounds?
No, and to my understanding windows 10 hasn't added any support for it which is shit because I would love to have that as a live wallpaper
Give us dreamscene please
Yeah that does seem like a feature that should be in Windows 10. We live in 2015 and we have oodles of RAM to play with, not to mention we've had screensavers since the 80s, yet we still don't have animated wallpapers as a standard.
Does Windows even natively support animated backgrounds?
Windows Vista's DreamScene, but it was removed for Windows 7. Presumably there is a way to install it for 7, but I'm not sure. 3rd party software can do essentially the same thing as well. From personal experience, as neat a premise as it is, in practice they are more distracting than anything else.
Animated desktops are in Windows Feedback with a fair few votes so maybe MS has got the message but ignored it? [t]http://i.imgur.com/CXvNBz9.png[/t] [editline]29th June 2015[/editline] even tho i had animated wallpapers in the search box, it's at third place on upvotes
while its cool and all that video is pretentious as fuck
It's no Bliss, but it does look nice.
Still waiting for the official Windows 10 OS-tan wallpaper.
I forgot the date of when they are sending those out
I wish I could have animated backgrounds without killing my memory :(
xp supported gif backgrounds
So how do I downgrade to XP.
By upgrading your downgrade
I want live wallpapers :)
would have been 1000x easier to make in c4d / ae but then their target market wouldnt see the perceived value of some designer doing his things
they wasted so much money not hiring a random schmuck who makes intros for their game guilds frag vids with aftereffects, just goes to show microsoft are the pretentious ones pandering to creative snobs. [editline]e[/editline] Who even needs to hire the creative director from tron to put on a lightshow
"hey guys instead of using all these cameras and shit, lets just make something cool in photoshop(TM)!" "woah there sir im gonna have to ask you to leave immediately" [editline]28th June 2015[/editline] guess they cant afford photoshop
I think it's really cool they decided to use lightning and photography instead of digitally making a wallpaper?
Ooh, I like it.
It's no Bliss, but it does look nice.
I like Energy Bliss better; like Royale, it came with MCE rather than the Luna/Bliss in normal XP. [t]http://wallpoper.com/images/00/43/09/75/energy-bliss-wallpaper-landscape-nature_00430975.jpg[/t] I also love Aurora, Vista's default wallpaper. Had that greenish teal that was popular in tech around 2007. Very cozy. [t]http://www.wallpapersdb.org/wallpapers/computers/windows_vista_aurora_1920x1440.jpg[/t]
Aurora is the best default wallpaper for Windows.
I think it's really cool they decided to use lightning and photography instead of digitally making a wallpaper?
its not like microsoft doesn't have the money or resources to do this, they might as well
Aurora is the best default wallpaper for Windows.
I don't know.
I also love Aurora, Vista's default wallpaper. Had that greenish teal that was popular in tech around 2007. Very cozy.
Longhorn/Vista era of Windows was pretty interesting in terms of the ui design. For example first version of Aurora was one of the first things to use then-new XAML for rendering and animation. [img_thumb]http://s9.postimg.org/p18tob60v/Aurora.png[/img_thumb]
It would be super cool if Windows 10 eventually supported animated wallpapers. This new background with subtle lights traveling along the edges of the squares similar to 1:49 in the video would be sweet.
would have been 1000x easier to make in c4d / ae but then their target market wouldnt see the perceived value of some designer doing his things
Maybe, but Gmunk has done a lot of stuff like this before, so I have a feeling MS knew what they wanted.
