It is, but if you don't hate on reddit you can't be in the cool kidz club of Facepunch.
reddit is fucking awful and so is facepunch and most of the rest of the internet
Please do it Reddit, my friend might actually stop telling me terrible jokes from you for a day.
Please do it Reddit, my friend might actually stop telling me terrible jokes from you for a day.
The problem is that all of those jokes are in-jokes.
The problem is that all of those jokes are in-jokes.
lol no they aren't
The problem is that all of those jokes are in-jokes.
no they're someone else's jokes
Hopefully Google/Facebook/etc. will finally pull through with their own black-outs, now that reddit finally took the leap of faith.
there is always digg...
I think i'm the only person in the world that does not give a shit about if SOPA passes. We will always find a way to get around it, no matter how hard it is always possible.
literally the worst reason to not oppose SOPA ever
No, the worst reason is thinking it will help anything. Mines just a "lol i dont care" reason.
This is gonna sound a little :tinfoil: but it's an apathetic attitude like yours that allows governments and people in position of power to get what they want. Hence why shit like the Patriot Act passed.
what the hell is reddit
Try walking up to a random person "Did you hear? Reddit is blacking out against SOPA" "What the hell is Reddit?" vs. "Did you hear? Google and Facebook are blacking out against SOPA" "Holy shit, we should do something!"
Trust me if this passes you will definitely care, even if you don't live in the US
If it passes Sweden here I come!
now where are the white male atheist children supposed to post their racism and misogyny [editline]10th January 2012[/editline] oh right facepunch heh
a blackout is appropriate, considering that only white internet nerds post on reddit :smug: :smug: :mugs:
And facebook.
Millions of teen girls commit suicide with pills in the bathroom.
Didn't Wikipedia, Google, Facebook, and Yahoo all say they were going to do the same?
Didn't Wikipedia, Google, Facebook, and Yahoo all say they were going to do the same?
They were considering it. Hence why reddit doing this may make them (read; the sites people actually care about) do it as well.
It's great to see more activism over this. I kind of found out about this late, because I always seem to be late. I just kind of knew that it was something people were talking about, but I never really looked into it. The one day I was wondering what all the fuss was about, and shit, this is terrible. I should think of things to do about it.
Scanned through the thread, didn't see that anyone pointed it out. So. The reason that they're changing the site to this for a short while is probably not to raise awareness about SOPA. I think what is really trying to be shown is what the reality would be like if SOPA was passed, since many people might not think it to be too serious, or just can't imagine some huge site being shut down.
Good, it can stay that way. This is pretty much the only good thing that would come out of SOPA, Reddit being erased from the internet.

Once you get past the repetitious rage comics and reposts, there are some good topics and subforms. /r/earthporn is fucking awesome, for example.

[editline]0[/editline] Earthporn is pretty good, though.
We're gonna need bigger names than Reddit to get involved if this thing is going to be stopped.
Oh my god, what am I going to do without Reddit for an entire day? Most likely go into the fetal position and cry. Only half-joking. But seriously, it should be a good thing to raise awareness, but what we really need to see is Google do a blackout. I'd guess most users/readers of Reddit have some idea of what SOPA/PIPA is already. EDIT: Can someone please explain all the hate for Reddit?
Don't worry, /r/spacedicks isn't going anywhere.
Good. Now we just need Google and Yahoo to come through.
Wikipedia, Google and Facebook would really drive the point home.
Who ever goes there? Why would they go there?
It's nothing but a huge atheist circlejerk filled with nothing by misogyny, hypocrisy, and nothing but echoes of the worst parts of the internet.
Wait... are we talking about facepunch?
