Protip: Don't post plans like this on the internet in a public form. This can really bite you in the ass down the line, if they find evidence of you marrying for citizenship it'll be declared fraudulent and you'll be legally fucked.
But that hasn't been my experience at all. Keep in mind, I've lived in the Greater Toronto Area - one of Canada's most diverse urban sprawls - for all fifteen years of my time here. I find that - to use your example of the Chinese - almost every store in Chinatown has english lettering as well as Chinese, to draw business of westerners. Their employees speak at least passable English, even if not great. Gotta give them credit for trying, considering how different the languages are, and that all of them are first-gen immigrants. I should know all this - I shop there with my folks regularly, because there's a couple of places that make spring rolls to die for, and because many of their grocers sell great cuts of meat for cheap. And the only people I've noticed who don't really seem to learn the language are people above the age of 70 - and even some of those do. Given how hard it is to learn a totally new language at that point, I'm willing to forgive them that. These older folk tend to rely on their sons, daughters and grandchildren to translate for them. And from what I've seen even they tend to adopt Canadian culture, if not the language.
Every single thing I've seen in a decade and a half indicates that immigrants to Canada of all faiths ages, mothertongues and ethnicities truly do their best to acclimatize and assimilate. There are always going to be outliers, but they're the exception - not the rule.
Whats weird is that when a nations fresh foods opened up near me my are just got flooded with asians, I've never seen so many customers in one grocery store let alone asians.
What is it with asian food?
