Megaupload commissions a song by major artists, UMG repeatedly tries to take it down and brands them
Isn't sending copyright takedown notices on stuff you don't own against the law in the US and a few other countries?
Considering the fact that you send DMCA takedown requests under penelty of perjury, yes. UMG committed perjury, which is punishable by hefty fines and at least five years in prison.
Well the intent was accomplished, why make it too deep for plebs to misunderstand?
Why make it so shallow no one can really appreciate it?
Stay classy UMG.

Jeez did you expect a charts topper?
It's made to spread awareness about MegaUpload, and it does that perfectly.
Sorry it isn't hit of the year.

The reason people like Goodfellas more than The Godfather is that it is easier for it to sink in.
It would have been much better if it was an actual compilation type song with an "Endorsed by Megaupload, free to download" and a small fact sheet at the end rather than
MEEEEEGA. MEGA UPLOAD. for 4 minutes.

Also I highly doubt any of those artists know what Megaupload is and few of them probably actually know about what they're endorsing, since they definitely got paid to do it. Not that UMG had any right to do that, but still.

Obviously I didn't expect it to be anything good, but it's like they didn't even try. Generally the reason these sort of things work is because the music is good as well as the message. The only reason this is even getting attention now is because of the UMG thing.

That's a pretty retarded comparison. I'm pretty sure The Godfather is generally seen as the superior film.
I'm starting to see a similarity between Apple and UMG (if you've been keeping up with some Apple related threads you'll know what I'm talking about).
this it why something saying that websites can ignore all DMCA requests from a company if it is found they send false DMCA take down requests 3 or 4 times
Nice going UMG, and remember that I sued you last week for stealing my self-made sandwich, bought all the salami and cheese myself.
Youtube should move all its servers and the entire hosting system to Switzerland so it can say "fuck you UMG."
That would be so great, having people uploading all these videos that UMG wouldn't allow and UMG sits overseas crying all over their oceans of $$$ while people watch and listen to whatever they want on the site.

Moving from US wouldn't really do google any good.

I do prefer The Godfather, but people prefer Goodfellas.
We can't argue because it's what is preferred. Who cares.
Also as a free user?
I don't see what your getting at. I can understand that you may know of similar sharing websites that offer the same services for free but it useless when you are bound to what content providers choose to upload to. Perhaps what you are looking for wouldn't be on any other service which is often the case. If you are a user of sharing websites you would know about the consistant rivalry between sharing websites for the leading capital service. Distributed between them all is the content which costs the user. The trend in providers using megaupload as a prime source of content convinced me enough to buy their services going back years, not for what benefits their services gives me.
Megaupload is terrible and I hate it when people use such a terrible service for files I want.
Why is everyone arguing about the song. Trying to argue over how good a song is just happens to be stupid, pleasure is subjective, some people like it, some people don't, get over it.

EDIT: "..is a German conman who has generated much publicity and was convicted of credit card fraud, computer fraud, insider trading, and embezzlement. Schmitz is also one of the leaders of the website Megaupload."
holy shit, do not want him anywhere near my credit card details.

There are some genuinely bad songs though but this isn't one of them.
They don't give a damn about copyright, only money.
Though copyright can be used as a tool to fetch them more money, even when it isn't even their business
In that case they are thieves; thus UMG must have it's "hands" removed from YouTube.
And buying out senators is something that should be punished most severely. (but not as severely as a sharp edge, if that's what you think I mean by "most severely")
I enjoyed the song
I liked the animations.
The takedown reason was changed. Apparently the reason is now because it "violated YouTube's Terms of Service."
