So people are fighting to legalize it then when it comes time it sees light people start bitching about it?
Also, do you guys realize that it will still be illegal on the FEDERAL level? Meaning that a Federal Marshall or Agent can still arrest you and make busts

Will federal agents really care about someone smoking weed in their home?

Not everyone makes a living off supplying cannabis to large portions of continents...
Will federal agents really care about someone smoking weed in their home?
Yes, I think federal agents would be pissed off if you smoked weed in their home. :smug:
Will federal agents really care about someone smoking weed in their home?
They will if they're a minority.
what kind of federal agent walks into someone's house just to arrest them

"That's not my dime bag baby"
Actually it would be a lot harder.
no, it really wouldn't.
Weed is pretty widespread but nowhere near as much as booze is in high schools.
Whenever this is on the ballot here in CA it gets a +1 from me.
no, it really wouldn't.

are you kidding me? what high school do you go to? it takes me a while to find someone to get booze but it takes me 5 minutes to get myself some bud. it's a huge hassle to get booze, weed not so much.

You're crazy, when I was in high school finding someone over 21 to buy you alcohol was a lot harder. I knew at least 1 guy who could get weed in 5 minutes in all my classes.
Edit: Then again I went to a shitty high school, maybe rich neighborhoods are different.

generic northeastern suburb #12
Booze takes about a quarter of a day to find in my old high school, weed took a few days
suppose we were just an outlier

who would you get to buy you alcohol? a friend's brother or something?
either way you're kind of lucky :P
around here we end up pressuring the parents to buying it for us
You would think this is common knowledge.

Either that or you have a couple stupid friends who will run up in a store and jack a couple of handles.

nostalgia bomb. has it really been 4 years?

That's been my source for years, great friends and Safeway.
Assuming it would be 21.
Whats cigarettes? 19?
The California Law would be 21.
nostalgia bomb. has it really been 4 years?
Yeah, unfortunately, I won't change it because its me dedicating something of my life to him, even if it is a facepunch avatar.
Anyways lets reminisce on this and get stoned. The only thing I see wrong with legalizing it this way, is if it came into stores it could mess up something that could fix a lot of peoples lives. As in if it was only made distributable by common folk and not business, as I see it people could start supporting them selves with this with out having to quit jobs and it could be run on the side.
When weed is legalized I can't help but think that the faces of Californians will really light up

It would hurt them but I'd be willing to bet most of them will carry on operating.
It's Funny, I was thinking about this earlier and from a logical standpoint it makes total sense to legalize pot.
Every recent study has concluded that Weed is safer and less addictive than Alcohol and Tobacco,
really Alcohol and Tobacco should be banned because THEY'RE ACTUALLY PROVEN WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT TO HARM YOU. but no why would we do the smart thing? naw that would be easy!,
It's so hypocritical it's ridiculous.
The amount of money people throw at this is jaw-dropping (on both sides). governments spend millions on fighting a pointless battle what with the police to apprehend these "criminals" and the prisons to house, feed them and that's not even the good bit. the Cartels rake in ridiculous amounts of money off this easy to grow and relatively inexpensive to produce product that sells at an ABSURD price. and with that kind of income you can pay people a King's ransom to sell it for you. as you might expect You give desperate ignorant poor folks a way to make money lots of money fast and they'll fight people over it, Fuck They'll kill People over it without batting and Eyelash. This is the real rift in our society, People killing each other OVER A GOD DAMN PLANT.
Legalize and stop this lunacy.
I think you should all watch this:

it's an unbiased view of legalizing marijuana, it's also full of interesting facts and history.
There are no good arguments against legalizing weed.
No one should be surprised that its prohibition is feeding the Mexican gangs and their violence.
The Office of National Drug Control Policy employs a LOT of people. Making marijuana legal would mean a substantial cut in the number people the ONDCP employs and, therefore, more people without a job. This decrease in size also means that the agency would also receive considerably less funding from the federal government.
While I'm not saying that legalized marijuana would be a bad thing (smaller ONDCP means less government spending (hopefully)), there is a very legitimate reason for not legalizing it.
People who work for the state don't usually have a hard time finding an equivalent job elsewhere. Also marijuana legalization will creare many jobs.

The immobility of labour for goverment workers is lower than that of the people who would gain jobs from legalizing marijuana. I'm sure some people would continue to grow illegally or move to other drugs as once they become legal I'd imagine the competition would make the profits not as good (however taxation may make the end product more expensive). That and the fact that it's one out of many drugs means that not that many jobs would be lost at the ONDCP.
I don't know why you're saying goverment spending is bad but yeah there'd be less of it, not to mention the income from any taxation of marijuana, which I imagine would outweigh the costs of enforcing these laws.

I semi agree here, it's quicker to get weed than to get alcohol although I'd say that's probably more to do with it being smaller and easier to carry around than bottles of alcohol.
About fucking time they figured that out.
I say legalize it for a bit, see how things happen and if they get better keep it legalized, if somehow worse, make it illegal again. But I'm staying the fuck away from it no matter what, I have no respect for people that smoke it.
Can I ask why that's your opinion?

It depends. Weed can be bulky if you buy a lot, and it can smell pretty bad and that isn't easy to hide at all. Alcohol doesn't. Also, you can conceal alcohol in something like a water bottle so it looks like water. I've used that method to drink in school before, its pretty easy. It doesn't stink and looks like water.
Schools also have a bigger demand for weed then booze. Its much more profitable.
