mhm, and it's neat and splits it up by apps, documents, or files!
fucking yaldi, is it pretty much instant?
faster than win7 start menu search, in my experience.
Hold on, are they seriously releasing a new OS for something that's only worth an update? or am I missing something about 8.1?
from my (albeit limited) experience of metro, how do you do it?
Scroll wheel to scroll left and right, click on the program you want to open and it boots you to the desktop and the program opens.
Hold on, are they seriously releasing a new OS for something that's only worth an update? or am I missing something about 8.1?
It's just a small update with the name "Blue".
Hold on, are they seriously releasing a new OS for something that's only worth an update? or am I missing something about 8.1?
OSX style of OS releases. Nothing really worth a new OS, but more than a service pack would give you. They are upgrading Metro with more options and changing some stuff with the tiles, I believe.
People arent reading the thread, metro is not going away, you can just bring up Metro with a start button God it really shows who hasnt used Windows 8 here

I'm still waiting for them to bring back Progman.
Even if they give an option for the start menu (which I predict will just be the windows 7 menu recylced to shut people up), I will continue to use the metro UI. People who haven't used it really can't say they hate it, it's completely unjustified. I love the metro UI, and I don't think I'd be able to go back
The biggest problems is that there's no search.
There is one. This is just typical of all these people bashing metro.
I think could use the metro screen instead of the start menu (in fact it would be very nice for all my games shortcuts) but I just can't deal with how it's made to be used with a touch screen and not a mouse. Just look at the right click menu (unless they changed that, but last time I saw it it looked terrible). If I'm paying for a professionally made desktop OS I expect something better than that. [editline]16th April 2013[/editline]
I use metro and there's no search bar on the start screen.
IIRC you can just start typing in metro and it brings up the search page.
Not giving a selection between Start Menu and Start Screen is what it made Win8 so unpopular(hell even in Windows 95 you could use Progman). But it is too late. Metro is thought to be what it is thought to be by masses, and Microsoft will have a hard time convincing people to switch. In fact, that one decision may have sealed 7's position as "second XP".
Why don't they support 'metro' apps in windowed mode?
Hahaha, I've been using metro for months and I haven't noticed that yet.
Please don't tell me in 7 you seriously clicked the search box to start searching. You've been able to click start and start typing since Vista.
Where in the article does it say that they are bringing the start menu back?
Where in the article does it say that they are bringing the start menu back?
It doesn't. Sensationalist misleading OP.
Where in the article does it say that they are bringing the start menu back?
It doesn't. They're adding options to bring back the start button and a boot to desktop mode.
Why are people rating dumb if they have different opinions than you or if they think Metro looks hideous? [sp] Which it does. [/sp]
Why are people rating dumb if they have different opinions than you or if they think Metro looks hideous? [sp] Which it does. [/sp]
ugh! boxes that can be flopped and zoomed and categorized and let you have any amount of programs you'd ever want right in front of you in half a second! makes me sick!
I like the boot straight to desktop option, since the first thing I do is click the Desktop icon anyway. I know they're not actually bringing back start menu, but even if they were I wouldn't use it. The start screen is a hell of a lot better, it only takes a few minutes of playing around to get it set up for your needs and after that it's a lot faster to get to stuff you use a lot.
ugh! boxes that can be flopped and zoomed and categorized and let you have any amount of programs you'd ever want right in front of you in half a second! makes me sick!
But it's [sp] ugly [/sp] Also [sp] it looks like a tablet / touch screen computer, which I'm not used to at all, and is really my only real turn-off about Windows 8, and the reason I still have 7 even though I was offered a free Windows 8. [/sp]

[/sp]
can you elaborate on the ugly bit? they're boxes with a slick little animation and they don't do anything but sit there after that.
can you elaborate on the ugly bit? they're boxes with a slick little animation and they don't do anything but sit there after that.
They're just little boxes with flat, bland colors. No patterns, no designs. It's just 110% simplicity. [sp] Also I tried Win. 8 on a touch screen computer a few weeks ago, and it's not as quick or fast as you try to say it is in your post, I barely could find my way around in the tablet window. Also, why do you keep antagonizing, I'm just trying to speak an opinion and you keep being a fuckin' Win8 Nazi[/sp]
Why are people rating dumb if they have different opinions than you or if they think Metro looks hideous? [sp] Which it does. [/sp]
man I wish there was a word that explained how some people like thing and some don't like thing wait!! opinion
so it's not ugly, it's just simple? wow you're calling me a nazi because i want you to flesh out your beliefs a bit so that i can understand them better?
I just don't like how it looks. Is it that hard to understand? [editline]16th April 2013[/editline]
man I wish there was a word that explained how some people like thing and some don't like thing wait!! why the fuck are you speaking in spoiler tags
why the fuck are you speaking in spoiler tags
Don't want to offend anyone, since I have an opinion.
On Facepunch? Yeah, right.
This is always the reaction someone has on here whenever no one likes what they have to say. Legitimate, Facepunch is a regular place if you're not saying stupid things that give others reason to flip you shit
