I wanna go there
Id love to meditate in there.
They should have a trapdoor in the floor that drops you into a nightclub at some random point in time after half an hour.
They should base an SCP on this.
Snip, doublepost somehow

stupid video tags wont work

That was my first thought after reading this.
"This looks like an SCP story"
Apparently i live less than 6 miles away from this, but they have no information readily available online about visiting it. I'm emailing them now to see if they'll let some random college student tour their facility.
edit:
So I guess they either share their building with a video production service, or they went out of business a while ago?

Wonder what being locked in there for a day would be like.

Horrible.
If they gave you food and stuff, I would make music with the forks and plates and glasses.

Hell, judging by what people have described about it.
Can I bring my iPod in with me?
[editline]6th April 2012[/editline]
By the way, is the room by any chance called 1408?
It's so quiet.....
NEGATIVE DECIBELS!
Fun fact: dBA refers to the the sound's effects on human and animals and is seperate from the typical decibel (dB-SPL), which is used for pressure levels.
I would imagine that being in there with the lights off would be pretty close to what being dead would be like

That goddamn scene made me remember the times when I was a kid and at my caretaker's farm during the summer, and I couldn't go to the fields and lay down because I could be bitten by snakes.
:c
Minnesota Pride!
I'd love to try and beat that record.
Didn't the Japanese lock people up in similar cells during WWII?
I mean we have people who are completely deaf, but function fine despite being unable to hear. Sounds like a crock really. Especially that sitting in the dark bit.

The darkness is so you don't hear the light bulb buzzing when it's on
Wonder if LED's have an audible sound when you're in a room like that..
Cut off all sensory input, and your brain starts filling in the gaps.
The brain's screensaver.
This would be great for a horror house
going down a long super silent hallway and BOOM something jumps out and startles you
Now make a room that's 100% sound reflective. The echos would drive a man insane.
So is this record without yourself making any noise as well? I really think If you gave me a pencil and a book i could just tap on it and make some drum beats to pass the time.... maybe then Ill hallucinate some guitar... hours later ill have god damn orchestra going in my head.
I want this.
ALSO:
Im going to build one of these and instead of buying drugs im just going to jump in there for an hour
Reading this article makes me want to get noise cancelling headphones. You would be so into your game.
Reading this article makes me want to get noise cancelling headphones. You would be so into your game.
Higher Tier headphones are pretty noise canceling. It indeed is immerse, but it feels kind of "heavy", and one isn't always up for such a "heavy play".
45 minutes is a joke. Look I am sure its disconcerting to be in that room as the article explained. But I am also sure that if someone was mentally prepared and trained to break that record they could be in there for hours and hours. Hallucinations or not, I'm pretty sure I could last an hour.
I think the only reason the "record" is 45 minutes because no one legitimately tried to break it and the fact that it is a "record" is overstated by the article. There probably isn't really a record, that is just the longest any of the press or scientists have stayed.
It not being an olympic branch still doesn't rule out the fact that it's a record. People don't strive towards it because there is simply nothing to strive against.
Congratulations, you can sit in a soundless room for an hour here's your complimentary shirt.
id probably break into song to keep myself distracted
How would it make you hallucinate? Would you ear things banging?
I was born with middle ear problems, so i always hear ringing in quite situations. Heheh i got this down pat, 45 minutes i challenge you.
