It depends on the size. Smaller ones may burn up.
@Everyone talking about using nukes on it: You'd shatter it, what's easier to dodge, a bullet or buckshot? And it would fuck up any other space craft near by with the radiation.

When it's shattered it will just incinerate when it hits the atmosphere.

How about we make a giant ball of chavs/hicks and send them off with a rocket to hit the Asteroid?
