What if it's a distraction to draw attention away from something else?
Knowing anonymous I would say no.
someone with some sense an army of kids, angry that they can't access megaporn anymore, led by teenagers, will ddos FP for a day at max (they're way too "busy" to care), and then what?
An army of kids who took down fbi.gov [editline]20th January 2012[/editline]
Knowing anonymous I would say no.
I doubt that the general anonymous-teens-who-hack-porn-sites that you're thinking of would be capable of a stunt like this. Anyways now watch as they arrest a bunch of people who had absolutely nothing to do with it and say "HURR DURR WE DON JOOSTICE :downs:"
An army of kids who took down fbi.gov
an army of kids smart enough to use a software that dos websites it's a website, it's not like it's gonna have any effect

The FBI are the ones at fault here. The Anti-SOPA movement was entirely peaceful and effective - now they're going to cost the government a whole lot of money.
Guests can't view the forums anymore.
Been like that for a LOOOONG time.
The FBI are the ones at fault here.
“We can expect a great deal of havoc of the sort we saw today. We’re going to see it in a stepped up fashion,” adds Brown.
This is the angriest that I have ever seen anonymous. It is a good thing though, because the takedown of megaupload with no warning marks the first of many and at least they are showing how powerful a bunch of nerds can be when they get their cursor on the refresh button. But in all seriousness the fact that they are bringing down government run websites with ease is most likely making them sweat a little.
The biggest local news station here just posted an article about this and linked it to their facebook page. It's working.
They are doing something good for once ?
They brought this upon themselves really. Up until now SOPA's protests were passive and amicable, Then they went dirty and over our heads. So now while they swing for the head we swing straight for the bollocks. Fight dirty get covered in mud, U.S.
Like spreading awareness of gun violence by tazing people
I'd actually like to see that. It'd work too, I bet ya'.
I miss the days when the slightest thing the government did caused mass riots.
Where were you born, France?
I miss the days when the slightest thing the government did caused mass riots.
Especially when they did something really fucking stupid or did something because they were coerced into doing so by private interests.
The MPAA's site was down for 15 minutes - justice has been served. They'll think twice before they try to enforce the law again!
I was too busy using different upload sites, but last I saw garrysmod.org was packed full of ripped content from just about everywhere.
The MPAA's site was down for 15 minutes - justice has been served. They'll think twice before they try to enforce the law again!
Can we ban garry for trolling?

Ad below the video: "Romney, Lets fight for the america we love!" Strangely ironic.. Edit: doh
Can we ban garry for trolling?
Just banned him from my Gmod server. That'll teach him.
It may surprise you to learn that the FBI website has efficient defenses against cyber attacks.
no shit and you consider ddos a cyber attack?
I just had an idea: lets boycott them
I just had an idea: lets boycott them
They'll just claim the loss of sales on piracy.
I hate it when they say the revenue is illegal even though the site itself is legit. Even if the site isn't legit, they can't claim that revenue is illegally earned because visitors are not only downloaders, and when they are, they are not always downloading illegal files. Downloading any file from megaupload is perfectly legal for me, because courts ruled the anti piracy measures are not good enough, and there's no good alternatives.
The "Mega Conspiracy" only indirectly encouraged pirated material by encouraging popular files and high traffic. Unfortunately, it's still megaupload's responsibility to monitor what goes in and out of their system - unlike Pirate Bay, who does not actually host any files. So, even though MegaUpload really didn't do anything wrong, legally they can be held accountable. And, under the right light, it can look as if those in-charge of MegaUpload encouraged piracy for profit - or, as the case puts it, "racketeering." Unfortunately the whole entire release basically puts MU to be an evil international racketeering organization, which is a load of misunderstood shit.
Guys, I wouldn't be so quick to get angry. Megaupload had a lot of legitimate content, yeah. And shutting it down was a bad move. But if the allegations - The charges, mind you - of money-laundering and racketeering are true, it may just be a good thing the owners of Megaupload are in trouble.

The government should now ensure those who paid for services on Megaupload are compensated if they didn't get the whole term they paid for.
