Except not fake.
Pretty sure Alabama wasn't fake
I wonder if this would still have happened if social media hadn't made a shitstorm over it
PLEASE go to the Falkland's!
Well, that would be amusing, given the condition of the roads in the Falkland Islands.
As bad as it is, wanting to provoke the Argentinians over the war is just as bad as they are for pelting the crew with stones and making them leave. A lot of people were killed in what I see as a pointless war, principle was never worth the lives of all those people.
Then Argentina shouldn't have fucking started it then. They started it AND lost, deserves to have a rather neutral ribbing now and again, especially since they kick off now and then about it all.
Disgraceful acts by the Argies there. It's been long enough, you'd think they'd have accepted it by now.
Southern americans can hold stupid grudges for many many many years.
Just look at Bolivia and Chile
I have to agree with you 100% here, they provoked the Argentinians, they wanted this reaction, and they got it.
Familys lost fathers, brothers, and sons in that war and now some guys come down to make a "subtle" reference to be funny to their audience.
I'm not saying the native populations are right, mind you, it's never right to attempt to harm someone even if they offend you.
You guys realize the protest was very likely politically driven right? Argentina has been using the Falklands issue as an attempt to distract the population from their current problems for the last couple years, if anything that is more disrespectful to the population than any subtle joke, using a joke (that isn't even yet confirmed to have been one) to bash one of the big UK corporations is perfect for Argentina's government to make the UK look like shit.
I'm sure this also would have happened had Argentina won the war, and that there not just petty cunts.

I have no doubt that Argentina likes having a protest against an old enemy, but that doesn't mean that people were not actually offended, do you mean to say that the protest was supported by the Argentinian government in order to distract their population?
Was that actually confirmed fake?
I've actually been to that gas station while crossing the country, and my only memory of it was a redneck women getting arrested by five officers for attempting to hump a mascot. Great times.
Well the executive producer said that the incident in Alabama was not staged.

Yeah it fucking was when it's about a nation taking over an island against the wishes of the population and the country that actually owns the fucking islands.
And on that bombshell
Some people say, Argentina invaded the Falklands, but got kicked out.
and that everything wrong in Argentina, is down to the UK standing up for the Falkland's right to self determination.
All we know is, this episode is not finishing in Argentina, but it is finishing in the Falklands instead.
Yeah it fucking was when it's about a nation taking over an island against the wishes of the population and the country that actually owns the fucking islands.
IIRC when the vote was held, didn't all of the falklands vote for the UK except for one vote which had the name of a local pet sheep on it or something.
Actually, we didn't start the war. The dictatorship government which was on charge by the moment did.
To anyone who says we started the war, do some research first. A non democratically chosen, genocidal, dictatorship government declares war on someone, destroys our country's infrastructure, our industry, and we are to be blamed?
Yeah, it's true we say falklands are ours. The thing is, most don't bother, but CFK (our actual president) uses it as a political flag for raising votants.
Jeremy Clarkson mentioned the Alabama thing a few times on twitter and interviews, and insists that it wasn't staged and seemed pretty sincere when he said it was one of the most frightening things he had experienced while filming the show.
I'm not sure what brought some people to think it's staged, honestly. It feels quite real to me.

I don't think anyone meant the people of Argentina started the war. Usually when someone says X country started Y war, it is in relation to the government of said country.

Whenever your snake of a president makes her rallying cry though it just ignites tensions and I think you should get rid of her.

I think people are misinterpreting my post a bit, yes the Argentinians started the war (Probably to get the public attention away from the disastrous economic policy that was internally destroying their nation) War happened, Britain retook and defended it's territory legitimately. hundreds of people were killed senselessly. What i'm saying is that no more should be said about it, remember it yes, commemorate and give the Argentinians as one user put " a neutral ribbing" Fuck no, what kind of arrogance is that? The Argentinians need to learn a bit of complicity too however, they started it with no mandate and no clear reasoning behind it (And they need to get over it)
The fate of James' car

Fucking retarded reaction to something so small. We don't like something so we're gonna attempt to stone you to death, what is this the fucking dark ages?
Everyone knows they take the piss out of everything and most of the time its the BBC forcing them to do these things as proven by Clarkson saying multiple times he doesn't agree with some of the shit on the script they want him to say, he refuses, they tell him to do it otherwise X happens, he says it and gets into shit.
Wow, way to be, Argentina.
Look at all the jokes we throw around about Germany and the war. Everyone cracks them constantly. Yet Germany laughs and shrugs it off, tosses jokes right back, and when the chips are on the table, they'll back your ass up with troops and support of their own, and vise versa
Argentina being a bunch of cry babies, just like the 2 people who complained to the BBC about Clarkson's Slope comment

Hammond has the face I imagine he'd have after trying to get Clarkson killed during an episode
Local councillor Juan Manuel Romano said the digits 269 on the number plate of the Ford Mustang were close to the 255 Britons killed during the 1982 war - and the numbers 646 on the Lotus could be taken as a reference to the 649 Argentinian casualties.
Talk about grasping for straws, jesus christ

Way to fucking generalize, because a group of veterans did this to them does not fucking mean the whole country thinks this is ok. Holy fuck, the amount of ignorance i get to see on this thread.
Richard Hammond's plate had digits 269 while James May's contained 646

ok ya this is just grasping at straws

The only time I ever hear about argentina it's because of some pent up grief about England. Always. And for any excuse
i mean its like someone driving through poland with a plate WS1939 and people branding the driver as a neo-nazi

Three top gear presenters. That's just one more than two.
This could be taken as a reference to world war 1 and world war 2.

kinda hard for everybody else to know anything more about argentina since all that makes the news is stuff about how shit it is or how they vow to take back the Falklands

So you base your opinion on just what gets posted on a news subforum?

He didn't even grasp at the straw that was Clarkson driving in a German car. If they are that nitpicky, I half-expected it to be taken too.
This is going to be a really funny episode. Like that time they got chased by a bunch of pissed off rednecks in Alabama.
Reminds me of Clarkson finding an AMG tire in some backwoods county. Brits in the deep south- that's comedy.
