You seriously should not have graduated Law school and i am insanely surprised you would ever be able to do anything related to Law professionally.
Hey tell me more about how one case overrules another case which supported its decision.
Clearly you know a lot about it because you've decided to stop talking about it and just insult me.
It's kinda hard to have a real argument with someone who isn't having a real argument.
There is nothing about homosexual conduct in the New Testament. Nowhere in the New Testament does it say "don't fuck dudes or children."
Let me tell you about a place in the bible called Sodom. Basically it was San Fransisco's Castro district x100, homosexuality everywhere. And what happened to it? It was burnt to the ground by God because of the sinfullness of the people, most specifically, their homosexuality.

The OT still stood but what wasn't talked about or "Changed" in the NT, was still valid from the OT. It's like when legislature uses a line-item veto.

Neither the Old Testament story of Sodom and Gommorah nor the references in the New Testament once mention homosexual conduct. Make up your god damn mind.

Because God didn't like the way it looked?

[editline]17th June 2012[/editline]
Yeah sorry about that, I meant to say the OT law went away.
Homosexuality is only explicitly mentioned once in the bible, and that is in Leviticus. If OT law no longer applies, then homosexuality is as much a sin as shaving and touching a football. Or would you care to explain to me how the entirety of Leviticus is invalid save for that ONE line which justifies homophobia.
OT LAW DIDNT GO AWAY. Jesus came and amended the law in the OT. Homosexuality is still a sin, Jesus didn't have to mention it to not be a sin. Anything he didn't comment on, was still law. However, he did change things that the OT previously made law.
I love it when people try to argue law with Lankist. These people don't seem to realize that Lankist is a lawyer. Unless they themselves are lawyers (and I highly doubt F T is a lawyer), they really shouldn't try to argue law with Lankist. In fact, Lankist, your title should be "Resident Lawyer." If I had the money, I would buy it for you myself if you wanted it. I can understand why you'd be reluctant to give up your current title, though. :v:
But still, why else would that city have been destroyed? Because God didn't like the way it looked?
You do realize God sort of did that shit all of the time for absolutely no good reason. He flooded the entire world because they were worshiping other idols. Old Testament God didn't need a reason to be a genocidal asshole.
So then why are you allowed to touch the skin of a pig, shave your facial hair and have bowl-shaped-haircuts without burning in hell forever?
Because people like you don't understand the purpose of the law. The law is just a list of duties that God knows we will break and fail to do just to show how frail and sinful man is. Hence, why Jesus said he came to "fulfill" the law, not to replace it.

That law is still in place, then, and you are going to fucking hell if you've ever touched a football or eaten a rack of ribs. Unless you're saying homosexuality as a sin has been forgiven with all the rest, in which case I don't get what your beef is.
Jesus didn't mention pigskin.
But the law did. And going with what i'm saying, we aren't judged by how many commandmants or laws we break, but rather our faith in him.

Mrs. Moon and L T, you do realize this thread is about religious taxation, and not about religion, right?
Mrs. Moon and L T, you do realize this thread is about religious taxation, and not about religion, right?
Boy, it's gone completely off the rails.

He said enough is enough and removed that rule because it had no meaning to the world anymore and was merely exploited by through the pharisees. He generalized on that by the way.
But the law did.
HE GENERALIZED on those things and said they were not law any longer.
Then why is it wrong to rape young boys so long as you are faithful in Jesus (i.e. a priest?)
Because the law of God (not the OT law) is written on the hearts of man. We know it's wrong naturally.
Because the law of God (not the OT law) is written on the hearts of man. Doesn't that mean faith does not forgive you for touching the impure skin of swine or shaving your beard? I'm sorry, but you're saying that crimes are forgiven for faith in Christ, but also that you wouldn't be committing the crimes if you had faith in Christ. Choose one.
Because the law of God (not the OT law) is written on the hearts of man. We know it's wrong naturally.
I don't have words carved into my heart, sorry.
How do you not get this. Okay. So The Pharisees were the top priest guys. They were all high and mighty and were corrupt. They took advantage of their position and utilized the Bible for their own benefit. They used things like the pig and the hair cut rule to punish people who offended that and they would reap the benefits. Jesus came and said that that the meaning behind those laws was ruined because of them. So he generalized all the smaller laws in the OT *pigs, hair cuts* and said that the only true way to be saved is to follow him. He kind of just went "Screw it, forget that, here is what you need to do"
You are twisting what I am saying. I said the Law of God, not the Old Testament laws.
Uhh, I'm not twisting what you're saying. You're just saying completely contradictory things. If your faith in Christ is written in your heart, then if you have broken God's law of shaving your face, cutting your hair or touching pigskin, then does that mean your faith is false? [editline]17th June 2012[/editline]
How do you not get this.
Probably because you're saying different things every five minutes.
